  1. I too have a nice Japanese lady that talks to me occasionally. The music goes down a few decibels, she says something, but I have no warning lights or messages on the dash. I cannot recreate the circumstances that it occurs in, but I'm considering grabbing a Japanese friend and driving around until they can tell me what she is saying.
  2. As anyone who has been through the process will testify, find the car you want at auction in Japan and import it yourself.
  3. Excellent guide to part numbers. Here's a link for the V36 Coupes translated via GoogleTranslate .
  4. There will be a clause in there somewhere regarding agreed value or fair market value. Suggest you read the fine print. Also suggest you don't commit fraud and post about it on the internet.
  5. There are four specs. If you want leather with heated seats and all the fancy bits you'll want the Type SP. The later models 2009(?) have self-healing paint for minor scratches. Compliance is covered under SEVS so there are no major dramas there. No hassles with my compliance. I went through an insurance broker and have full comprehensive for $1800 (34, perfect history) You should be able to find a low KM car pretty easily Black is the most highly sought after colour. Good luck finding the car you want. I waited three months for the right car to come up at auction and bid on it. Finding someone with access to the auction sites seems to be a LOT better than relying on an importer to notify you when the car you want shows up. Grab the auction ID, talk to your importer, organise someone to inspect the car on the ground in Japan, and get ready to bid. The paddle shift auto is ok, not brilliant. I leave it in auto mode 95% of the time. A bit clunky for my liking but I'm comparing to Ferraris and Porsches I've driven. NFI on towing capacity.
  6. Is that an actual Infiniti with a RHD conversion or has somebody replaced the badges/seats/steering wheel on a 307GT? Impressive work either way as that is a great looking car.
  7. Everything is the same as when it was imported (including the japanese tv tuner in the boot hooked up to the aux video input). Having lived with the car for a year I've figured out what the buttons do and haven't bothered with getting them replaced with laser etched or stickers to cover them with english translations. Most of the buttons are for the Japanese satnav so it doesn't take long to figure out how to navigate everything else. Also 90% of the music functions can be done from the steering wheel. Once you've paired your phone via bluetooth, what else do you need them for? Nice to have, but getting the FM band expander for the Japanese radio should be your first priority.
  8. As far as we know, nobody has been able to do a full conversion. You can rip and replace stuff if you have the time and money, but converting from Japanese to English has NOT been done. I've had my v36 a year and to be honest my dash mounted GPS has done ok. There is a nice translation on how to use the Japanese features stuck at the top of this forum. Bluetooth phone pairing, Ripping CDs to the Hard Drive, etc.
  9. Will you still be able to use the touch screen for CDs and the Jukebox?

  17. So when the car comes back to life it 'knows' where the windows are. You know that little automatic adjustment your car does when the door closes? Yeah you need to reset that. Put window down, put window up and hold the up button for three seconds at the top, put the window back down. You should be good.
