  1. Thanks for the responses guys! SAUWA would be a definite once i get settled, i'm looking to get my R32 out on the track more, since its basically one decent turbo short of being a great machine. and Barbagello is so close I agree about you about being at the start of a new boom. My job is primarily around because lots of companies are ramping up demands and starting new projects, and their database geologists/schleps arent up to the task. Used to be impossible to get an interview with 6 months experience. now i'm getting calls from guys i spoke to once asking if i was available. personally i'd give it 6 months until we're back to a bull market.
  2. 1966 Fiat Abarth OT2000 or Fiat Abarth OT1600 Berlina or 1965 Abarth OT 1000 coupe Pininfarina what... i'm in love. who can argue with 215hp in 655kgs....
  3. I usually drive low key, the bov and exhaust are loud when pushed but i save that for the track where it dosent matter. (Note: i'll be looking for a new exhaust soon, any recommendations for fabricators in perth?) Perths nearly always in a bubble.. the downside of being the closest cap city to the big mines is that there's a huge transient population looking for short term accom. This pushes rental prices and demand up. So many places in perth are just 1bedroom apartments with shitty little bathrooms and kitchens - its quite disappointing. Do most of you guys live in apartment complexes or are you in free titled houses? Is it worth moving out an extra few kays to get a better house?
  4. I'm looking to move to perth in the next few months... got me a job (I'm a geologist... go figure). Wondering if its worth bringing the R32 over, i was staying in Northbridge and i noticed a lack of skylines, and a remarkable concentration of police in frigging dodgy 4x4's. I'm looking to rent short term, then purchase a house. What areas are good in Perth? everyone i've spoken to has had different opinions. Where do most of you guys live? What sort of attention do the police give skylines over in Perth? do they get the full 9 yards, defect notices for pod filters etc, or is more more like what i'm used to, where a cop recently asked me what FMIC stood for. Is it worth shipping the car over, or driving it? (she'd make it no problems) Cheers,
  5. Am a bit curious about this myself. Currently have a stupid veeport bov, looking to get a plumb back/GTR one so i dont piss of the boys in blue. Down side is i have shiney custom piping so i cannot spot the original location (did GTSTs even have them from factory?). Any photos people have would be useful
  6. the best daily driver out of those two is a hilux.
  7. I've never considered the need for cams in my RB20, the standard engine is a great set up destined for boost from inception so the Nissan engineers spent quite a few hours getting it right go with their experience and leave em be EDIT: ""Looking at your other posts, you want to move on from the RB20 anyway, so dont waste the cash."" - i didnt read through em all.
  8. Just reminding that anyone is welcome to come on the cruise. PM me for details!
  9. PM Sent looking forward to meeting you!
  10. I've got a stage 2 petrol RC. Cost me 200 bucks off ebay. How much was your stage 3 turbo? I wonder what comes with a stage 1? a BOV and a taped on turbo housing?

Heh, i dont think Pete will be able to work on your car without laughing his arse off... How hard were you driving it that the bearings let go? I'll PM you the details. +1 for the cruise.
  15. "Why bother stealing rice when there is steak around the corner" - cop i called once because there was 2 guys standing next to my car at 11pm on a tuesday night. I still dont know what he meant by steak
  16. sections are good, sections are bad, mostly ok. Its a B road, so dont expect anything like what you're used to in Melbourne - they arent real roads. If the shoulder looks like its getting bad stick in the middle, you'll be able to see if someones coming miles away. Also your car is white it wont show a few scratches
  17. Check out my fully sick BOV. Came with the car, along with all the chrome. Its all horrid, i hate it all. But i love the engine.
  18. If we buy infamous cars then we can expect the attention. They were probably just running your plates, or maybe a similar car had been reported stolen. Although half the cops in my town think my car IS just a kitted Excel...
  19. Geelong -> Lismore = easier drive, less traffic Geelong -> Colac = still an easy drive, a truck route, also a favourite of caravan owners heading to Warnambool. The prettier route. You'd be better (faster) approaching Portland from the Ballarat -> Hamilton way, if you're coming from melb, more double lane highway... but the drive from Warnambool to Port Fairy and beyond can be pretty fun. some nice stretches.

What were you doing to it? What have you got it tuned at? Info PM me if you want the name and details of a good performance mechanic in Ballarat - builds Targa Tassie cars usually, knows a 10 mill socket from a shifter unlike some of the mechanics in Ballarat.
  21. In follow up to my previous comments (like, page 1 or 2??) about cops in rural areas over christmas - i drove out to a property for a 21st party sunday night with a friend of mines boyfriend (was driving a VZ R8) and hes a complete tool of a driver, cant keep it straight around corners or roundabouts - but he had to follow me because he didnt know the way. Not a single cop, and we drove clear across Ballarat. Try that thing in melb and within 2 minutes you've got the red and blues (thank god imo).

A few of us are hatching some plans, Nick just got his GTR built up and is looking to stretch its legs. think i'll be for sunday the 3rd jan but we're still working out the details. Ballarat is excellently located to take advantage of good regional roads. there are some excellent roads such as the Devils Kitchen, road to daylesford, and in some of the state parks, mt ararat, etc. Lets see some suggestions for some locations; places you've driven that were fun? Any suggestions?
