  1. 1825 GVM listed on my NZ ownership papers, very interesting on a technical note that they list the GVM for a car instead of its actual kerb/tare weight. Legally for trucks exceeding the GVM (usually 65tonne for a truck that operates at say 44 tonne legal max in NZ) is a seperate offence from being overloaded as well (you have to be overloaded to exceed a GVM). Another legal trap fro the unwary ???? Five fat people in stagea with boot full of gear and full tank???
  2. Assuming we are talking about the cabin air filter here, air con filter. Yeah that number in photo meant nothing to nissan. Psoted the following in parts thead awhile ago after i sussed it out: Asked the parts girl to grab me a maxima one to measure up on a guess they may be same size. Problem solved. Nissan Part number B727A-79925. (fitted 2001 M35 Stagea 250RS fine) Also while i'm here i recently picked up a K&N ENGINE air filter (panel/original type fitment) part no 33-2031-2 and a veruspeed oil filter #15208 RN010.
  3. A japanese auction site with translate function, heaps of interesting pics of various parts. Good to see what they pay for various bits. Doh! here's the link- http://www.rinkya.com/full_list.php?$result=9000
  4. Thanks guys, re the fuel filter, i think you have given me the part number for the tank screen as per that other thread after having a look at, and after reading the other post i think a part number for the o-ring would be good to thanks and the engine bay fuel filter thanks. Can anyone recommend any online parts retailers for stuff like filters etc that ship to NZ, found one a few weeks ago but cant find it again on search, had like a oz/nz flag banner across top of screen. They seemed to cover many parts and actually had stagea in their search tools.
  5. Forgive me for being lazy, have seen one of these part numbers somewhere in the myriad of threads. Have downloaded FAST and installed but not working for me (error code 53 file not found). so in the meantime can someone do these part numbers for me 2001 M35 Stagea 250RS Engine oil filter Engine Air Filter Spark Plugs Fuel Filter Also the little plastic inserts that hold all the plastic panels together, how much abuse do these things take? Or do you just screwdriver em and replace??? Have sussed how they work with ones you can get at both sides from but wondering how to attack the others I am mechanically minded but most of my work has been on motorbikes and trucks. Also which side of engine is oil filter located as i can not for the life of me see it yet Thanks in advance
  6. No trouble at all, infact the smoothest operation i've ever had. I know what you mean, the wipers on my truck are doing that when there's not much water on window, really annoying! I'd splash out on some new blades.
  7. Totally standard (hence my username shopping trolley!) 2001 M35 Stagea 250RS including the quiet but larger exhaust end cap
  8. Discovered the stagea after searching online trading sites for Caldinas and Legnums. Hmmmmwhats this wagon. Then remembered sitting in a workmates older late 90's model and appreciating the interior room. What did it for me is the modern styling overall, nice headroom and seat size (I find Altezza's, B4's, Mazda 6's too small inside). Before even driving one i knew it was what i was looking for. Would be nice to get a nonturbo with manual and 4wd (hint ahem mr nissan san!)but getting accustomed to my first ever auto trans car. You can see the fuel needle actually moving when thrashing it, the ECU must have been programmed by a fighter jet bomber engineer and does smell a little rich at idle. Got a reasonable 11.8L per 100km without trying to hard tho, now on a nana mission to test ultimate economy, will update in several weeks. Bought this car with the intention of owning for up to ten years and 150 000km as i dont like buying and selling cars all the time. It is a heavy car as its a rear wheel drive wagon but its not bad considering all. Definately very happy with it, will be keeping my eyes out in future for a red one maybe with the 3 or 3.5 engine....
  9. Just done 598km on 71 Litres without trying to be economical. Standard 250RS. Good mix of around town and open road trip to work and drive up in the hills with a bit of blowing out the cobwebs acceleration and not mucking about. Can see 700+ happening easy with some nana driving. Have noticed tho that the fuel gauge drops like a 747 doing an emergency fuel dump if you do a few bursts of hard acceleration from junctions etc, can see how easy the turbo fellas would be down to 300km a tank! Man that reserve is small tho, needle was slow to get to start of E mark, light came on nearly one notch above then starts dropping like a stone. Needle was on bottom edge of E when put 71 litres in. Works out as 11.8L per 100km
  10. Yeah that looks good mate, more photos thanks, with bumper back on etc. Where abouts in NZ? Saw a silver one at hamilton nissan dealer recently that had tow bar, only time in nz so far. Also what have you done with original exhaust, i see you have the twin exit pipes on final muffler. My 250RS came with the big bore look but quiet end pipe, not a fan of that look and doesnt really suit it etc. Would like that twin pipe end mufflar.
  11. Yep thats a real laugh, thought i had better inform my insurer beforehand that my car is left overnight in transport company yard when i'm working. Infact it probably spends more time there in the "bad part" of town than it does at home. But their system has no way of assesing that and all they want to know is where you live and street, driveway, or garaged. Best to inform them of that intercooler thingy dude, you dont know what repairer it will get towed to and normally their is some kind of impound yard for recent wrecks that cops visit a lot to check for stuff they didnt have time to do at scene. Not a good place to get caught unbolting your go fast goodies....
  12. Another possible way to check build dates, that i have used on import motorbikes, hopefully same for cars is to check brake and fuel lines etc. By Law in japan they have to put month/year on brake and fuel lines as they have to be replaced every three of five years or whatever, thats why we get them cheap because of the prohibitive cost of doing all that work. Worth a look. Was quite commen on bike to find year xx bike had actually been built 6-9 months earlier etc....
  13. great info in this thread guys. I took a 100 000km cambelt to 150 000km in a mitsi with no drama thanks to leaving it to family members while overseas! Yeah oils do vary greatly and different engines seem to prefer different oils. A certain major brand once caused my oil pressure gauge to show low pressure on a near brand new motorbike at about 20 000km after changing brands. Changed it out to different brand and prob fixed! That Mobil must be the good stuff tho, even the top of the line Motorcycle version of Mobil 1 full synthetic was awesome and i used to be able to get it wholesale too. Think first oil change will be done early, god knows what the card yard put in the motor and trans when they "serviced" it. Its still looking clean 2000km later but is that good or bad after reading the above posts. Also re the extended service destruction test above, the truck i drive now has a very long service interval which causes problems with oil consumption. After many tests and recording this and that they have decided its just the oil getting dirty due to the longer service interval (25000km) Apparently clean oil doesnt burn but as soon as it gets dirty enough it burns easy, which makes sense as about 20000km after evry oil change it mysteriously starts drinking oil.
  14. 2001 M35 Stagea 250RS Professional truck driver, no accidents last 7 years, standard car, no under 25 drivers, stored in driveway, Alarmed insured for 14000 agreed value (paid a lot less than that but only $20 extra to insure for 14K instead of 11K) prem 520, excess 400. AA insurance NZ All numbers above in NZ dollars. Lady said would be an extra $300 on premium if i was living in auckland again.
  15. Thanks mate. Supercheap auto NZ said they dont do nissan air filters, Repco couldnt find anything with that number on side of filter in pic from that link. Went to nissan dealer, same again that number not in system. Asked the parts girl to grab me a maxima one to measure up on a guess they may be same size. Problem solved. Nissan Part number B727A-79925. Battery is LM40CP (Marshall), gave good charge up seems to be hanging in there ok but will try and shoehorn something bigger in at some stage.
  16. anyone done the cabin air filter on M35 Stagea. Went in to repco here, no listings, que too long at nissan dealership. Took some rough measurements was about 195mmx215mmx30mm. Would like to think it would be same size or part as one of the other more commen models???? forgot to ask them for one to measure up against DOH! Also what is the standard battery fitment for M35 stagea??? Dealer put new one in when purchased 1 month ago (holler for a marshall), looks bit small and sounds slow to crank engine over. Had to get a jump start other day after a 60km non stop trip, no lights on etc. Have since charged it up and recovered, seems ok but that battery looks way to small (will put size up later). Seems plenty of room in box to put something bigger in. Thanks
  17. Hi everyone, newbie here with a boring question but info on stageas seems hard to come by. Anyone know what the standard tyre fitment is for 2001 (M35) stagea. Has standard factory 6 spoke 16inch wheels. Current hard and cracked tyres look like prob originals from japan 205-65-16. Did quick measure rims look like 6 1/2 inch. Judging by our websites here in NZ that looks like an oddball tyre size, not much selection available. Any recommendations for4 average driving but something a little bit extra grippy like Re001's etc... Thanks
