  1. Just on the subject of little lights. The power/snow button.... When it's in the power mode I get a orange light on the switch light up that lets you know your in power mode. When I put mine into snow mode the green light doesn't light up. I can feel that it's in snow mode cause it doesn't use 1st gear... I've seen the green light light up sometimes so I know there's a green light in there somewhere.. lol Does everyone elses do the same ? Or does the green light come on as soon as you flick the switch into snow mode ? J
  2. Yepp, 6.5's in the back. I've got one of the factory plastic mounts sitting here in the study
  3. Mine came with the TV and sat nav option. Although the it can't pick up the stations and the sat nav don't work in Australia, I still have all the over the gear with it. I've found a video and audio inputs so I'm planning on getting a portable DiVx/MP3 player and plugging it in I scabbed the CD stacker out of the last car which plugged straight into the new one with no problems, and I've also got lined up a nice punchy 10inch sub and a MTX amp for the boot. Apart from that, I'll just replace the speakers with good 6.5 inch 3 ways and that's it. J
  4. Look'n good SK J
  5. D'oh !!
  6. I think Shannons do. I'm pretty certain my policy covers one accidental window damage/replacement per year without having to pay excess etc Might be worth looking into. J
  7. Good stuff Prank - thanks for that. Terminal, cool. One less bulb I need to replace Thanks J
  8. Do'h, I meant the switch next to the constant 4wd button to the left of the sterring wheel - I just re-read my post and it doesn't really make sense what I posted.. LOL J
  9. Yepp, three 52mm gauges fit well Have a look at this thread, down the bottom on the first page; http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=22878 And the PDF document for the plans on how to make them up is here http://users.dart.net.au/~jay77/din_gauges.pdf right click and save as. Big thanks to RB25 for the plans J
  10. Hard to see from those pics. If you could get a pic of inside those holes in the first pic it may help find out. I think inside there are metal rod things that have ramps on them. Have you had this in a car? Or are you thinking about buying it? J
  11. By far the easiest way is to get your hands on a tube of dry lube and then find a bolt that JUST fits inside the spigot bearing. The bolt shouldn't bind on the spigot bearing at all, just needs to be the biggest one that fits without rubbing on the bearing. Fill the spigot bearing with the dry lube, then put the bolt inside the spigot bearing and give it a few taps with the hammer. The dry lube will force the bearing out from behind it as you tap the bolt in. Works a treat and is soooooo much easier than any other way I've tried. J
  12. Cool, I noticed on the Stagea's that it's more of a clear colour than a blue... I had a few go on the R33 too (must be a nissan thing!) I got the clear bulbs and painted them with blue nail varnish !! No, it wasn't my nail varnish. Blue isn't my colour j/k
  13. Yepp, pretty straight forward. A few tips; Top starter motor bolt is a bit of a ****. Just take your time. To get to the top 1 or 2 bolts on the gearbox/engine, lower the back of the gearbox down by jacking the front of the motor up. Keep an eye on the hoses and stuff in the engine bay so you don't stretch anything. Then get four 12 inch long 1/2 inch extension bars and feed them in from the rear of the gearbox to get the two top bolts. Get someone up the front to line it up with the bolt while you undo them. If your not taking the clutch/presure plate out you'll be right, but if you do then it's a pain to get it line up so the box slots in right. If it doesn't then try and get the gab between the gearbox and the motor even all the way around the bellhousing, then get someone at the back of the gearbox pushing forward with their feet while you siggle the crap out of the gearbox This is the hardest part. Sometimes it takes ages, sometimes it slots straight in... J
  14. LOL, I've got two buttons on my air con unit that don't light up too !! Except mine are the A/C and demist buttons... When I change them, should I get new bulbs all round so they all light up at the same intesity ? Also, the button to the right of the 4wd button on the dash doesn't light up either. Should it ? J
  15. They do look pretty trick. I wonder what sort of $$ they are.
  16. Hmm, so it looks like it depends on what head unit you have. Looks like the factory double din radio/CD player has the 2 pin plug, while the factory radio/CD/Sat nav has the smaller and larger (normal) sized plugs. J
  17. G'day SK, Mine had 2 antenna cables coming out of the factory head unit. One normal (Australian sized) connector, and a smaller (thinner) connector. I just plugged the FM converter into the normal sized plug. So you shouldn't have to change any of the plugs etc.. I 'think' the smaller plug could be for the AM stations maybe? Not sure. It's pretty tight behind the stereo. Make sure there's no kids or ladies around when you do it cause if your like me you'll be saying a few choice words when your hand get's stuck in there J
  18. Could be the ECU increasing the revs slightly due to the increased load that the power steering puts on the motor ? Anyone else ?
  19. Ahh, good stuff Ben, thanks for that
  20. We should make this the official 'what the hell is that' thread for Stagea's I've got a switch on the right hand side of the steering wheel that looks like a demist switch but isn't cause the demist switch is on the lefthand side. I'll post a pic of it up later, but it's a momentary switch with a little orange light in it that lights up when pressed. The symbol on the switch 'looks' like a symbol for warming up a water tank or defrosting the wiper blades on the windscreen. hard to discribe..... Cause it's a momentay switch, I'd say it automatically turns itself off after a set time but I'm yet to test it. J
  21. Cool, yeah the funny idle only happens when you move the shifter from D to Park. Doesn't do it when moving from Park to D or when the air con is on. Appart from the funny problem yesterday, pressing the brake has no effect on the idle. The 'idle increasing when the brake is pressed' hasn't happend since yesterday, so I think the valve just needs a clean. I'll rip it out on the weekend and give it a hit of WD40 and brake cleaner J
  22. Thanks for the replies guys. This is the first auto I've owned, so I'm a bit nude when it comes to this wierd transmission stuff OK, drove it home this afternoon (had the arvo off ) and it's stopped doing it which is good. Another good thing is that the pedal feel/hardness hasn't changed a bit. Not even the slightest. So I'm hoping that it's the valve in the vacume line to the brake booster or just a loose clamp. I took the AAC valve off over the weekend and cleaned all the crap out of it, and while I was doing it I was leaning and hanging off a few hoses, so maybe I've loosened one a little or pulled on it a tad to hard and cracked it I'll give it all a good look over and post up how I go. One other thing that I've noticed (and is the reason why I cleaned the ACC valve), is sometimes going from D to park (or even netural) the revs will hunt a little for a few seconds. It sort of drops low then comes up and drops a little then then settles at normal. It's not as bad (or frequent) now that I've cleaned the crap out of the ACC valve, but still does it a little. Oh, and it has never done it when the air conditioner is on. J
  23. lol - I've just got the normal clown shoes that I wear to work But naa, nothing like that. Very strange hay. J
  24. Howdy fellow Stagea owners A strange thing happend this morning when I started the car up. Did the usual and let it warm up a bit before driving off but as soon as I pressed the brake lightly the revs increased from 1100 (cold) to 1500. Take the foot off the brake and the revs dropped back down to 1100 again. Got to work and the car was warm. Normal idle is about 700rpm, lightly press the brake and the revs increased to ~1100rpm. And putting around the car park slowly in D I could feel the revs increase as I pressed the brake, so it does it in D and N/Park (it's an auto !!). Strange... The first thing I thought of was an air leak in the brake booster or vacum hose going to it - but being at work I haven't had a chance to pop the bonnet. Any ideas ? J
