Generally speaking the min ground clearance is 100mm. So nothing (bar the rims and tyres) can hang lower than 100mm. This includes chassis rails, suspension bits, exhaust, body kits etc.. But the best thing to do is check with your local roads and traffic authority. You may find that taking it down to 100mm will have a negative effect on the handling though J

G'day Tia, I found the hadling to be a bit boaty around corners but firmish over bumps (if that makes sense !). Saying that they are really easy to drive. With the boost, it's very linear in the Stagea when they are on stock boost. There isn't any rush of power or anything so at times it's hard to notice that your using it. If the boost has been wound up it'd be different though. I'd check all the usual things when buying a car. Compare KM's on the clock to the wear of the interior and general condition. Get the car into a mechanic and up on a hoist so you can check it for wear on the suspension and oil leaks. Check for rust in all the usual places. Check all the electricals and A/C to make sure they are working etc.. J

Sounds good Term. You could easily fit two 12's in a ported box behind the seat. Make it removable so you can pull it out when you need to etc. Where abouts are you gunna mount the amp ? I've got a MT 280 that'll fit nicely in the spare tyre well. I just need to get some power cable/fuse and a long set of RCA's. J

Na, Japanese use NTSC We use PAL.

Xbox is great cause you get a games console as well, but pretty large and not very portable. It really depends on what you want to do with it etc.. I'll grab some pics tomorrow and post them up. But so far it's played everything I've thrown at it, apart from MOV and WMV. J

Yepp, portable media player. The unit cost me $370 but that was WITH a 60 gig laptop hard drive. I think you can get the unit without the hard drive for about $180. Damn cheap if you have a screen already. The iRivers that have a 20gig drive (but without this res video and DTS 5.1) are around double this price. J

This is one for people that have imported a Jap car that has a TV in it and are stumped on what to do with it. There is a cheap alternative to throwing it all out and starting again My Stagea came with a TV and Sat nav system. I ripped the sat nav out cause there's no way to get it working here But I thought it would be a big shame if I couldn't use the TV. Well, after a heap of searching around I found a media player that will hook up to the video and audio inputs of the TV so I could watch DVD/MPG/AVI files and also play MP3/OGG music files. This is it; http://www.itbox.com.au/catalog/product_in...ed15d58ad58d64c It's a really nifty little thing. Basically it will play any DVD/MPG/AVI video files, including DivX and Xvid, play MP3 and OGG music files, display JPG files, outputs upto 1920x1020 res HD files !!, has 5.1 DTS output (as well as standard stereo) and doubles as a portable mass storage device. This little unit suits me down to a T. I have a heap of backup movies and music that I can play in the car now, also instead of having to convert the files to a standard DVD format to play on a standalone DVD player I just need to load it up the files via USB2 and play them by this unit... I love my new gadget J

friction modifyer in 2 way diff?
Jay95R33 replied to PHATR32's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
G'day Phat, My old R33 GTS-t had a 2 way in it (not sure of the brand). I got the same advice from a few workshops around, and they advised me to try Nissan's fiction modifier. Comes in a plastic bottle of about 60-70mls. They use it in the Nissan patrol diff's to quieten them down - apprently they behave in a simpular way to a 2 way !! So, after buying the 70ml bottle of fluid from Nissan for ~$74 (trade price), I put it in the diff and let it wear in a bit. I noticed a bit of a difference but not a big one. i just learnt to put up with the skipping and the 'what the hell is that' and 'I think your wheels are falling off' comments... J -
Thanks SK, great info there. I'll keep an eye on the Walbro I put in, if it starts to lean out for no reason I'll know where the problem is. J

Anyone Got a Timing Light I can use ??
Jay95R33 replied to Jay95R33's topic in Australian Capital Territory
Cool, thanks Leigh -
I know this sounds wierd, but apparently it works... To stop the air bag light from flashing you press the drivers door light switch (the switch on the door that turns on the interior light) five times within ten seconds of turning the ignition on. I haven't done it myself, but there's a thread somewhere on it. J

The sensors aren't in the front of the car, so you'll be safe pulling the front bar off etc.. The sensors (G force sensors) are located under the centre console. If you take your centre console out you'll see a little metal box with some sort of warning on it. Just don't hit the sensor with a hammer J

Howdy, Anyone in Canberra with a timing light that'll work on the Skyline's ignition system that I can use for about 15 minutes ? I just had a play with the timing and I think I've thrown it right out of wack.. LOL It'll need to be one of those sesitive ones that works on the Skylines ignition systems (got a little loop of wire up the back of the motor etc..) Cheers J

Brazen, I'm running a high flow panel filter in my Stagea and I can hear some induction noise, but it's no where as loud as the HKS pod I used to have !! J

Cool, I just fixed the pictures in the other thread (link above). Cheers J -
On the exhaust stuff. I got a custom made 3 inch turbo back made for mine for $950 fitted. It's not stainless but it's legal !! A lot of the jap stuff is too loud and you'll cop a defect for it Just a thought.

Best way I have found is to get a big allen key (the ones that are 3-4 inches long, then turn 90 degrees and have a further 1-2 inches), slot it into a bolt hole and turn it so it locks it against the flywheel teeth. That will stop the flywheel from turning while you get a loooong extension bar onto the bolts. J

Yepp, I'll give everyone a full run down when I get back from the workshop. It's a bit scary being the first to try a Unichip on a Stagea, but I won't know if I don't try.... J

Wow, I like the AMP mounted inside the spare wheel bit !! I might do that with the amp for the sub ! I wonder how it goes with heat and ventilation ? I just relocated my stacker to that pocket on the left hand side of the car (it was just bolted to the floor on the left hand side. I mounted it as low as I could in that pocket, so the top of the stacker is at the bottom of the pocket, so I can still use all the space that the pocket had before. I just hope the Octane booster bottle doesn't leak into the stacker !!! J

G'day Brazen, Cool that your joining the Stagea group I say if your happy with the look of the new wheels then go for it. $1900 for a wheel tyre package is pretty good. Just make sure you don't get a UmCha brand tyres. I sold my old stock tyres for only $300, and only got $75 for 2 stock rims (still got 2 if anyone wants them !). About the springs.. Might be worth looking at just getting new shocks and cutting a grove in them to lower the ride height. I haven't done it myself, but SydneyKid will be doing it as the spring rates on the stock springs is good, but the stock shocks are crap Swapping the shocks springs over is really easy, and if your mate is good with cars then you'll have no problems. I did the shocks/springs in my old R33 GTS-t (pretty much the same setup in the Stagea) and it was very quick to do. J

The Unichip has a boost control option (add on bit) that uses the factory solenoid to bleed the air. It's good and stable upto 13psi which is heaps enough for me. Not sure how much the boost control add on bit is cause I bought the Unichip and boost control second hand It's pretty much tuned for the set up I have, but will need a check and quick tune on a dyno just to make sure I'm just keen to get it in and see the results. Plus I'm dying to turn the boost up J

This should help you EDIT - D'oh - looks like the pics don't work anymore When I get home I'll fix up the pics... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...read.php?t=9634 -
Cool, looks like everyone is getting some mods done soon. I'm keen to see how everyone goes. I've got mine booked in on 17th Jan for the Unichip and boost controller to be installed and tuned (attempt two !!). Hopefully this time I've got the right ECU pin outs for the Stagea... I 'think' I'm the first person to try a Unichip on a Stagea !! So fingers crossed The only thing I need to do before it goes in for the install and tune is to get the car up on a hoist and make sure the 'get the car into rwd only mode' actually works. Otherwise I'll have to get them to pull the front drive shaft. J
