  1. A bit off topic - but this just caught my eye. http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/privat...id=12AEBB93D4EC If that's not a misprint, and there isn't something wrong with it - that's one helluva bargain (for Tasmania anyway )
  2. Hey Guys, For those that don't have FB (and whom I don't have on FB:P) - here are a few pics of the cruise (17 Oct 2010). Enjoy!
  3. Ah damn, that sucks bro - seems like a bit of BS to me , they should've realised it wasn't your car when they pulled you over (i.e. would have heard your exhaust). Oh well, hope something works out
  4. LOL what happened bro? Was definitely good catching up with all you guys today, sorry I had to leave early, will definitely stick around till the end for the next one!
  5. How much do you want for the headlights mate? My left one is pretty badly oxidised and sadly the previous owner told me he tried to rectify it by sanding etc and has probably made it worse - think the only option is to install new ones. I'm guessing you've got JDM projectors now?
  6. You're better off spending the extra $$$ and replacing the door-lock solenoids and the window motors/regulators. As Victor said, you don't want to be in a random place with windows down and doors which don't lock . I wouldn't ignore these issues if I were U.
  7. Sorry Victor, looks like my mate can't make it - he's gotta go and get his factory alarm system removed (or some BS) in order for him to register it. I've got a mate's B'day BBQ on that arvo so I might leave the cruise by around 3.30-4ish. Just 3 days more
  8. With our Aussie dollar being this good, it's only natural to take advantage of sourcing parts from the US. Have a look at this - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GENUINE-NIS...sQ5fAccessories $AU173 + $AU27 for shipping. $AU200 looks like a good deal to me
  9. Have a read of Chris's fourth post. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/V3...ng-t240794.html If you've got any electrical/audio/suspension etc issues, check that thread before posting, it's quite helpful
  10. There are plenty of different causes mate, just hope that it isn't anything too major. I'm sure your mechanic will diagnose it, but for now (to put your mind to ease) do a Google search and I'm sure you'll find a few threads in relation to this. E.g.: http://www.zdriver.com/forums/showthread.php?p=10584
  11. Agree with Victor - try save up for the coupe. However, if it's fuel economy, travelling with a few mates (coupe can be a bit of a pain for that) and you aren't after the pleasure of going around corners, quick acceleration etc then go the 250GT. Also, another CON for the R34 is that the ride won't be as supple as the 250GT - it'll ride a bit firmer and if you're really after a luxury 4-door and don't care about speed too much - 250GT/300GT/350GT sedans are the way to go. I think the 300GT with the direct injection would be an awesome car - it's got a bit more pwr than the 250GT and has way better fuel economy than the 350GT. OR...If you want sex on wheels - go the coupe ;-)
  12. If you want projectors, you're going to have to buy the '06-'08 projector headlights online. Something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OEM-G35-COU...sQ5fAccessories There are various companies which make after-market projectors with HIDs (e.g. cincity designs) - however, I think they're pretty pricy. Also, if you order them from the US you might have to check if you can adjust them since the light would be directed the other way (cuz they drive on the other side). That's all I know - maybe Jacob has more insight into this. Good Luck
  13. Projector lights are a type of housing for your headlight. They come in both halogen and HID form. They use elliptical reflectors which allow a more accurate light dispersal (some argue 'brighter' too) than normal headlights using parabolic reflectors - in practice they are similar to how a slide projector would work. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Headlamp#Proj...soidal.29_lamps Projectors headlights with HIDs are the bomb!
  14. Mainly when U get new mechanical mods, for example things like resetting the knock sensor so the ignition timing is accurate after you've added say a throttle-body spacer, resetting the O2 sensor if you've installed HFC or even something as minor as a Z-tube. IMO Any kind of mod to the intake/exhaust and engine (i.e. bigger injectors) will require an ECU reset. In doing that, the ECU 'learns' your driving style and makes any necessary adjustments. Also, if you want to clear any error codes (e.g. airbag light flashing) an ECU reset does the job. P.S: I've even heard of people resetting the ECU after an Oil change. I don't, however, I don't have any arguments against it so I won't go into it.
  15. Good turn out! Looks like the Z33s are catching up to us Still no word on my mate Victor, will try contact him - doubt he's registered it though - he's a bit lazy ...
  16. I was reading about this the other day but I know just the basics. I'll keep this brief - E85 runs a higher concentration of ethanol and has an octane rating equivalent to roughly 105. I'd say you'll need to get your ECU remapped (as the V35/V36 aren't FlexFuel vehicles) as E85 will require a different AFR and also compression ratio than your normal engine running on petrol. I read about an R35 GT-R having a NIStune which allowed both regular fuel and E85. You may also need to change your injectors - I've also read that using E85 for a short duration is fine, however, prolonged use may deteriorate the components in your fuel system. There've been a few cases of people running mixtures of fuel (i.e. 50/50 petrol/ethanol) and it works fine for them. Have a read of this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E85_in_standard_engines
  17. I'm running Ferodo Thermoquiet pads in the front and Ferodo DS3000 at the rear. I just told my local mechanic to order pads for the Z33 - just slotted right in. They work really well and complement my slotted rotors brilliantly (previously used Bendix and my slotties ripped them apart in no time, the Ferodos seem to be lasting longer). So +1 to Ferodo. If you're doing regular track work and aren't looking at buying bigger rotors/calipers - go for Project Mu brake pads: http://www.project-mu.com.au/en/products/index_pad.php You can even select 'Nissan Skyline V35' under the model of car.
  18. I would have agreed with you on having parity in the near future, however, given the fact that the RBA has put interest rates on hold (cash rate is still 4.5%), the market has already fallen (by around $US0.01) - so given this recent set-back any predictions about parity in the near future are a bit hard to fathom (for the moment).
  19. Hi guys, Just a quick FYI - the $AU today is sitting at $US0.97. It is expected to drop in the near future though so if any of you are looking at sourcing stuff from the US, today's probably the best day to buy. I think it drops to around $US0.95 tomorrow, not a huge difference really but worth knowing. http://currencies.news.com.au/money/fast_c...SD&period=D Cheers, Tarun
  20. You should do a search at the bottom of the forums page - there are plenty of topics on this. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Mo...amp;hl=headunit That's a DIY one. Which "headunit" are you referring to? There's the double-DIN One that sits on your centre-console and there's the DVD-rom that sits above your glove compartment. Mine are still stock, however from what I've seen you definitely can use the OEM screen. I think Chris Rogers is the best person to ask, PM him if you like. Otherwise if you're from Perth, contact Brian Wallis from Autotainment.
  21. Could be, not too sure mate, the guys at my local Nissan were pretty unhelpful when I asked if a Z33 filter would fit - they kept saying "you'll have to bring in your existing filter and we have to check it etc, we have no idea about V35s (as if)" - didn't have time for that during the week so just added it to my brother's DVD order from Amazon. The same filter in the US is shared on a few cars so I wouldn't be surprised even if Maximas/Xtrails etc use them. I would say the Z33 filters would be the most suitable match.
  22. I just thought I'd add - I got a bit of "hate" from a few people at Powercruise, a few comments like "Oh couldn't afford an R35?" or "tryhard Skyline". All of which I ignored, I pity the uneducated
  23. Oh and if you need a new one. You can try sourcing it from a US supplier (google is the best LOL) - the part number for the OEM filter in the US (Infiniti G35) is 999M1-VP001. I don't have the OEM filter, I sourced a TYC filter from the US through amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/TYC-2003-2008-2003-2...R0#lbhuc_416640
  24. That would be your in-cabin micro filter. If it's flashing it means you need to replace it (or a clean MIGHT suffice, I personally would replace it). It's located behind your glovebox - here's how you do it. Hope this helps. http://www.ehow.com/how_4910504_replace-in...air-filter.html
  25. Interesting you bring up heavily modded Commodores/Falcons. I was the lone V35 representative up at Powercruise this weekend (Barbagallo). The cars there were simply unreal. HSVs/FPVs, classic aussie/american muscle, a lot of s13-s15s and r32-r34 Skylines and even a few Euro heavyweights. However, amidst the company of such highly modified machines, my V35 with mere aftermarket rims pulled A LOT of attention. Had people asking me what the hell it was, if they could sit in it, if they could look under the hood, few taking pictures and even a couple of people wanting to come for a ride around the track. I was actually really surprised even though they're getting more common, there's still a huge number of people who've never seen one before. I took much pleasure basking in all the attention. That being said, I think U guys (Victor, xtc and Paul) should have taken the prize away from the modified locals. Oh well, we know ours looks a million bux so that's what counts
