  1. hey mate if you want a NIStune solution and you don't want to tune it yourself (ie, you want to take it to a dyno tuner for a tune), you'll need option 1. Find out first if there's a tuner near you who can tune NIStune first (and find out what they charge at the same time + an estimate of time if they'll give you one). You can either ring around to your desired tuner(s), or visit the NIStune page and click the "Workshops" link. there's some tuners listed there Most importantly though, make sure your ECU has JECS written on it somewhere. If you want, take a photo and we'll be able to tell you if you're running a standard ecu ah! another one I thought i'd replied to! i must have fallen asleep at the pc, haha. i'll reply to you now mate edit: to the best of my knowledge, I've replied to everyone's PM's, except for RBPOWA-(TJ) (trying to find the surcharge for ya). If anyone's sent me a pm that I haven't replied to, please post in here as they're all marked as read
  2. replied sorry for the wait!
  3. no problems mate let me know how you go noted i'll get the first posted updated that's cool mate. I thought the time frame might have been a bit slim for you The NIStune site lists these workshops in NSW (not sure what's near Sydney, don't know NSW too much ): AUSTRALIA - NSW 4B Action Mechanical Services Unit 2/89 Mitchell Road, Cardiff, Newcastle, NSW Contact Tony on (02) 4956 7636 TonyBidner [at] firstchoicebc.com.au Envy Dyno and Imports 15/26 Wattle Road, Brookvale, NSW Contact Cameon on (02) 9907 4144 envy [at] envyimports.com.au http://www.envyimports.com.au Julius Performance 11 Pacific Highway Contact Graeme at juliustuning [at] bigpond.com MRC Dyno Services and Performance 26/44 Carrington Road, Castle Hill, NSW Contact Mark on (02) 9634 5399 mrcdyno [at] iinet.net.au http://www.mrcdyno.com.au Unique Auto Sports 1/20 Tucks Road, Seven Hills, NSW Contact Tim on (02) 9620 9000 info [at] uniqueautosports.com http://www.uniqueautosports.com Unigroup Engineering 17/ 17a Amax Avenue, Girraween (02) 9631 2470 Contact Yavuz on (02) 9631 2470 enquiries [at] unigroup.com.au http://www.unigroup.com.au as for price of tune, you'd have to ring the workshops of your choice.
  4. i even posted a thread in the Group Buy section to say that there was a group buy happening in the stag section, you think i would have figured it out my sincerest apologies if you're tuning it yourself, yes, you need the software to run it if you're getting someone to tune it, who can tune it (ie: make sure they can tune it before you shake on anything), they will have their own copy, so no need to worry if you're tuning yourself, you'll also need a consult cable to connect the ECU to the computer you're running the software on and a wideband O2 sensor to tune it properly. if you (or anyone) needs a consult cable, let me know. am already considering a consult cable group buy
  5. cheers for that mate darkhalf is Matt from nistune this is his post from the other thread for people who are interested we install the factory ROM into the board which matches the Nissan part# on your ECU. The ECU will function identically as before. For example on my GTT I installed a board about a week after getting the vehicle but we didnt upgrade the parts until many months later. First went in the injectors/turbo and I resized from factory to 480CC Nismos whilst at the fitters and got it home. After that we took it for a spin and maxed out the factory AFM quickly!! After a few weeks was was installing Z32 AFM at my place in the driveway and then resizing inside Nistune to that. After about a week we finally took it to the dyno for a tune and that was the first mapping done on the board. So the tune is already in there and the minor tweaks required no major changes. Note that I didnt boost it until we got to the dyno because the enrichment changes are theroeticaly only and need to be checked with a wideband AFR meter This is a tricky one... the Nissan maps are 16x16 grid and the load scaling depends on how much power your engine makes to how you setup the scaling. Nissan ECUs use a 'TP' value for load so you would need to translate the equivalent from the other ECU. Fueling on a factory ECU use Fuel and VE maps. VE used during O2 feedback and fuel maps may be different to how the aftermarket is setup. You would probably be best starting with the factory tune and then tweaking that. For RB25DET NEOs we found with mine that the fuel map did not need much changing. Other tuners have said the same, that they basically left the factory fuel map alone as the AFRs were all good. Probably can view the timing table from the aftermarket unit and use it as a reference I would suggest and just copy the timing maps across where possible. I wouldnt do it here though on the bench... leave that for when the car is ready to be tuned
  6. to the best of my knowledge, the daughterboard doesn't hold the tune. it just enables you to burn a new tune to the existing ecu, as well as monitor/log data. this means that there will be absolutely no change to the standard tune, because the daughterboard doesn't edit the original ecu in any way, until you tell it to burn a new tune into it. edit: pm replied to btw
  7. If you go to the NIStune site --> Workshops, there's a list of NIStune workshops. I think these two are the closest to you though: EFI Performance Unit 3/15 Emeri St Stapylton 4207 Contact Rick on (07) 3801 80 75 rick.w [at] efiperformance.com.au http://www.efiperformance.com.au K-Tune 5/8 John Duncan Court, Varsity Lakes, Gold Coast, QLD 4227 Contact Keith on (07) 55221115 http://www.k-tune.com.au regarding the boost controller, see the third question in the Q n A above. There's a document posted in that thread. If you're comfortable with that setup, use NIStune, otherwise an alternative boost controller will be what you're after. JayCar have a cost effective EBC which allows you to set boost via injector duty cycle (so how much you put your foot down). there's a few threads on here about it also I've sent you a pm mate I've sent matt a pm asking him mate Hi johnny. The earliest you'd be able to send the ECU away would be so that it arrives around the 19th/20th. The money from the group buy wouldn't be transferred to NIStune until the 16th (the day after the group buy ends), then allow 3 or 4 days for it to clear, as transfer is by bank deposit. What date is your drag meet? I would have thought that a NIStune tuner would be able to tune a car in a few hours. There shouldn't really be any bugs with a reputable tuner...
  8. Hi guys, I've got a group buy happening on NIStine daughterboards to suit RB25DET NEO's in Series 2 Stageas and ER34GTT. Details can be found here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...t&p=4858659 Please don't reply in here. Register interest in the above thread. Tell your friends Josh Edit: if a kind moderator could lock this thread for me, I'd be greatly appreciative
  9. guys: as per the 5 day thing for postage, I don't know what i was thinking at the time, lol. 5 days is a bit unreasonable. i'm currently talking to Matt about a maximum time for these to be sent though bubba: you can now order the board on its own. i've just sent an email to matt about the stock maps and translation question. i'll post the answer in the Q & A section of the group buy thread. Please refer to the actual group buy thread from now on guys http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Gr...84#entry4858684
  10. Done Please note guys, that i've only added people who've said they're definitely interested
  11. Hi guys, This is the official thread for the NIStune group buy. Please ask all questions and register interest in here only. This group buy will run for 14 days only, starting from today, so this offer will end on the 15th of Ooctober. You MUST have your money paid to me by this date! My banking details for direct debit are: Account Name: Joshua Farry Account Number: 200202061 BSB: 484 799 (Suncorp) Please add your username on SAU as the reference. If you can't or something went wrong, please PM me your banking details so that I know your payment has come through. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This group buy is for NIStune solutions for the RB25DET NEO only (for Series 2 Stageas, make sure your ECU has "JECS" printed on it). Currently on offer are the following three options: 1: Daughterboard + Installation For $314.20 + your ECU sent to NIStune, NIStune will supply and fit the Type 4 board (go to http://www.nistune.com, click the "About" link and go about 1/2 way down the page for an explanation), then post the unit back to you. This is broken down into: $243.10 for the type 4 board (RRP $286) + $ 56.10 for the install (RRP $66) + $ 15.00 postage to get it back to you. (Total RRP is $367, so total saving is $52.80) 2: Daughterboard Only For $258.10 NIStune will send the Type 4 board to you. This is broken down into: $243.10 for the type 4 board (RRP $286) + $ 15.00 postage to get it to you. (Total RRP is $367, so total saving is $52.80) NOTE!! If you are taking this option, please read the Type 4 Board Hardware Installation documentation. NOTE!! Postage for customers outside of Australia is $25. 3: NIStune Software For this group buy, the cost of an Individual Users License has been reduced by 25%. This takes the $220 RRP down to $165 (total saving of $55). This group buy does not cover Tuners Licenses. I currently don't have a confirmed price for the software on its own posted out, but I'd imagine it'll be the cost of the software + $15 for postage. If we have any interest for the software on its own, I'll enquire and update this post. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What Information Do I need to supply? As per the NIStune website, I need to know your vehicle's name, model and year. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Things to note: We need at least 5 sales of the daughterboard (either on their own, or installed) for the daughterboard prices to happen. We need at least 5 sales of the software to obtain the software prices also. Questions and answers: Q: Are Series 1 RB25DET stageas covered by this group buy. A: No. The series 1 Stagea has an entirely different ECU that NIStune don't currently make a daughterboard for. They may offer a daughterboard in the furutre though. Q: How long does it take? A: Outside of postage there and back, it takes 1-2 days to fit the board to the ECU, test it and then package . Usually they are done in a day though, so that there's no backlog. Individual items such as software and individual daughterboards are generally sent out the same day the order is received. Q: Can you adjust boost pressure with the NIStune ecu? A: This is the reply from Matt at NIStune: Q: If my Stag is completely stock, with no immediate plans for mods, is this still worth it? A: Yes and no. No because: Having the daughterboard installed will make no difference, as the original tune is retained until you take it to a tuner and get it re-written. The Series 2 Stagea does run an excessively rich top end, so a tune on a bog stog Stagea should at least see you with some better fuel economy and a little better power, but it won't be anywhere near as good without supporting modifications. Yes because: If you have any plans for modification at all, this is a good price for a fantastic tuning option. As it is a dauhterboard, it also retains all of the of the more standard procedures like factory cold-start and proper integration with the auto-trans. Q: Does this mean i need to unplug my ECU and then refit? A: Yes. If you're purchasing option 1, your ECU needs to be sent to NIStune. Removing the ecu is as simple as removing the passenger kick panel, then unbolting the loom from the ECU (1 bolt from memory), unbolt the ECU from the chassis (3 or 4 bolts from memory) and it's off. Reinstallation is the same thing in reverse. Q: If i got this done, would i go straight to a dyno for a tune, regardless of the fact the engine is stock? A: Your car will still run as it did before the NIStune installation, as the original tune is still on the ECU. You can take the car to a NIStune tuner at your leisure. Q: Can I acquire a daughterboard on its own without having it installed at NIStune? A: Yes. Please refer to option 2 above. Q: Can I pay you by PayPal? A: Yes, but I'd rather you don't. PayPal will cost you more, because there is a surcharge at my end for receiving a payment. If you don't have the funds in your PayPal account as well, it can take quite a while for the money to clear. If you would still like to pay me by PayPal, send me an email and I'll find out what they charge to add to your bill. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Interested Parties: ** Please register your interest by replying in here or PM'ing me. - pyro-ns - Option 1 and 3 - $479.20 - PAID - msports180 - Option 1 - $314.20 - SABBAi - Option 2 and 3 - $423.10 - QWK32 - Option 1 and 3 - $479.20 - darrinspencer - Option 1 - $314.20 - Payment Sent - Mr GTS4 - Option 2 - $258.10 - lilcrash - Option 2 - $258.10 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have any questions guys, just fire away Like I said in the other thread, I start moving house this weekend, so I'll be all over the place for a few days. I'll still try and get on here daily though to handle questions + update the list. Happy shopping! Josh
  12. Mr GTS4 and lilcrash: I've sent an email to matt asking if he'd be interested stay tuned for a reply Guys, i'd like to start this a.s.a.p as we're moving house this weekend and shit's going to be everywhere, plus i'm at the business end of university. That being said, I'll wait for a reply from matt before i make the threads, so that I can post the answers to the questions that you guys have asked as well he's generally pretty quick though I'm still sorting out how Matt would like this run with the handeling of cash + ecu's, but ultimately how i'd like it to run, is that we run the group buy for two weeks to gather any more interested parties. you guys send your ECU's to matt over the following week, you either send me or matt the money (probably me, as i'd need to track who's paid) and he sends the items back to you as they're completed. this way there's the least amount of places for things to go wrong. this isn't set in stone though, so wait until the official thread is made just to confirm, have you spoken to matt about the order, in conjunction with this group buy? or is there something i need to do as well?
  13. sweet as!!! i'll make the appropriate posts tonight and sort out a time frame don't let this post stop you from registering interest btw
  14. whereabouts are you located mate? i'll have to factor postage into the time frame yes, postage at the same time is the way it's looking at the moment. this is something we'll have to finalise with Matt when the group buy officially starts though. This on its own won't do anything. You'll need to either purchase the related gear (consult port + wideband O2 + single user license of the NIStune software) in order to tune it yourself, or you'll have to take it to a reputable tuning workshop for them to tune it for you. NIStune has a list of accredited workshops on their NIStune -> Workshops page, but there are other workshops out there which tune without being recognised on the NIStune site (I'm pretty sure this means that they're not endorsed by NIStune though). I would recommend you contact your desired tuner(s) first and see if they will tune NIStune. They have to have a license for the software in order to tune daughterboards with it. in terms of power/running better, series 2 stageas in their most standard form run incredibly rich in certain places on the fuel map and certain modifications can make this worse. this will result in pretty average fuel economy (amongst other things), but not only that, a leaner mixture (within reason) generally gives more power. the NIStune solution allows you to tune pretty much every aspect of the ECU. air to fuel ratio, timing, any associated fuel/speed cuts, rev limits, etc. as it is an addon for your standard ECU, it retains all of it's standard functions, such as integration with the auto box, cold start processes etc. i hope i've got it right, haha.
  15. bit gay might see if i can join their development team and h4x that one out while they're not looking i've already pm'd goldzilla about that one too, poor bugger's gonna think i'm trying to waste his time...
  16. haha, i was gonna pm you when i got back from Domino's, but ya beat me to it hey mate, nistune doesn't offer an ecu for s1 stageas i'm afriad. i was speaking to Andrew at BPS in cleveland about it (he owns an S1) and from memory he said that the S1 stag appears to be a totally unique setup where it's a 1 processor per tune kinda deal. you'd probably be better off going for a copgyback system like an e-manage, or Jaycar's DFA with an SITC. Unfortunately, copgybacks are kind of a band-aid fix and generally lack functionality, but if you don't want a tonne of power with bigger turbo's etc, they might do the job if you're willing to spend the extra $$, you'd be able to hit a PowerFC or the likes, being a manual i'm not a tuner btw, i'm just a regular idiot so discuss that with a proper tuner before you go buying edit: anyone know why i can't edit my initial post? is it because i lack a decent post count? and why does "p i g g y " come out as copgy???!?!
  17. just had a thought, i don't think you will be able to control the boost with it, as boost isn't controlled by the ecu (ie, it doesn feed it "ok, 1 psi, now 2, now 3", it just opens/closes the solenoid by grounding or opening the circuit when a particular rev-limit is hit). i'll still ask though.
  18. I've added you both as definites for ecu's let me know if this changes, or you want software as well as far as I know, you'll still need a separate boost controller to adjust boost levels. i'll ask around for you though
  19. Hi Guys, I've been emailing Matt at Nistune about a group buy for NIStune solutions for RB25DET NEOs. As such, this is an EXPRESSION OF INTEREST for the below group buy. When we get 5 definites, I'll start another thread with the actual group buy. What this group buy covers: For $314.20 + your ECU sent to NIStune, Matt will supply and fit the Type 4 board (go to http://www.nistune.com, click the "About" link and go about 1/2 way down the page for an explanation), then post the unit back to you. This is broken down into: $243.10 for the type 4 board (RRP $286) + $ 56.10 for the install (RRP $66) + $ 15.00 postage to get it back to you. (Total RRP is $367, so total saving is $52.80) If you would like a copy of the NIStune tuning software as well, for this group buy, the cost has been reduced by 25% for single user licenses. This takes the $220 RRP down to $165 (total saving of $55). All of these prices include GST. The RRP prices are listed on the NIStune website on the "Ordering" page. Note that prices on that page are not inclusive of GST. What this group buy WILL NOT cover: This group buy WILL NOT cover the Nissan Consult connector and wideband O2. For Consult cables, NIStune recommend PLMS Developments. If you would like an Innovate wideband O2 solution, there's a group buy currently running on Cruising Brisbane. According to the NIStune website, the Innovate LC1 is compatible with the NIStune software. Let me know guys We need at least 5 people for each to make their respective prices happen. I see no reason why we can't include ER34 GTT owners in this as well (they use the same board) so i might put a link in their section soon also. If you have any questions, please just post a reply, or pm me ----------------------------------------------- List of Definites: - pyro-ns - ECU + Software - Series 2 Stagea - msports180 - ECU - R34 - SABBAi - ECU - Series 2 Stagea List of Maybes: -
  20. i must have been living on a different planet, but did Getrag really make the R34 gearbox?
  21. how would you rate the difficulty of the job mate? i've never done cv's before, but will probably be looking at it in the not too distant future
  22. ^^^ this is what i'd be doing. to the best of my knowledge, the tolerances are small enough that if you rotate the cam without rotating the crank, you run the risk of hitting your pistons with your valves.
  23. noted
  24. the attessa reservoir is in the boot, on the driver's side, behind the panel that you can open shameless plug: this is why a wiki would be good
