  1. How's your aircon? Aircon lines have a lubricating oil in them for the pump. Could it be that? If it's coming down the loom, just trace the loom back. Could it be (dirty) powersteering fluid? Unwrap the loom and find where the oil comes from that way. just rewrap it with the spiral shit and duct tape.
  2. I'd try hooking the pump straight up to the battery! If that doesn't work, replace the pump. If it's the tired old stock pump, time for an upgrade
  3. Mmkay - should be trying to start my RB this weekend. That should tell me if the loom chop up worked as planned. I've actually stripped out one whole loom, and on another the super multi junction has 1 wire left going through it. I should have taken more photos If someone takes pics of the plugs on a loom I can help identify them while its all fresh in my head I only have a few pics of the loom plugs at this stage.
  4. As long as my loom massacre works, I might write up a brief guide, if anyone is interested.
  5. Hey guys, I have an RB25DET (auto) with full loom - everything from an r33, including the dash loom. Putting this in a buggy, so I'd like the least amount of wiring possible. Having a few toggle switches, an engine start button and a big cutoff switch. I have the FSM/ECU pinouts already, but where do I start? Are there any good resources out there to help me? Looking at all the loom, it looks to be a rather daunting task. thanks for any help.
  6. Had exact same problem with my 180, it was the psteer fluid. ran too low and then it started having issues. I ended up locking the hicas and throwing away the solenoid and associated crap. as far as I know it wasnt anything to do with any steering sensor.
  7. Trapster is also on droid phones. Don't use it tho..
  8. Sounds like turbo exhaust oil seal to me. Remember to keep checking your oil levels, and swap the turbo over to check if thats the culprit. I've been through a couple of turbos on the 180 now, sometimes it starts off intermittent.. though quite quickly degenerates to quite a lot of smoke. its usually fine for a few seconds on startup, then as the turdbot heats up it will start burning the oil. if you blip the throttle a huge cloud would come out. haha. I smoked out the entire driveway.. my aristo has a valve stem seal issue, not sure how similar it is to RB issue - it only happens on start up, then the VSS get warmer and expand, and the smoke stops. sometimes it can be quite a bit of smoke as well, but its always right on startup, after being left overnight or for all day etc. as for headgasket, if theres no coolant in the oil and no oil in the coolant i'd say you are safe there.
  9. haha, I'm leaving his comments there, I personally think they are hilarious. Also if anyone has some good ideas for what to do to a r31 (rb30) to get it ready for bush bashing, let me know we are already looking at dodging up some turbo in the future for it, but for the time being we want to give it a little bit more power (exhaust, intake, anything else?), and reinforce the front end a bit, and possibly raise it up an inch or so
  10. Yep we try to keep the cars that blow flames to have exhausts pointing upwards (rotor...) We also have an actual firetruck we take out to the track during summer months. We've been well versed in fire safety So far, yet to start a fire or roll a car.
  11. both our falcons are autos just picked up a RB30 r31, that is our newest addition currently in process of stripping, welding up a sidepipe, reinforcing the front, welding on braces and that sorta stuff.
  12. Hey everyone, some mates and I went to the Lake Grace farm on easter weekend and did some skids on a salt lake, also on a track we'd made in the bush paddock. Since this is the first time I've posted these videos on SAU, here are the first two: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JizifqAAvzM This one takes place last Anzac day. Some good footage of jumping the Excel (RIP), some rotor [dirt] drift. Also introduced to the civic-ute which is one of the only cars still running now. Second movie, quite recent. Labour day weekend. There are a couple new additions here, a couple of 4L falcons. Also took out a Datsun, unfortunately this sheared its halfshafts shortly after arriving so there isn't any footage of it. Also a barina makes its way out there. I take a lot of dusty videos and my camera lens is now screwed. Oh this movie also has an old RWD Celica and the Excel burial. And here is the new video: Latest video, from the Easter weekend just gone. Some more drifting, and the salt lake was very muddy this time (as opposed to dusty and dry). Features Civ-ute, Celica, Falcon, Failcon and Christians Patrol. ok enough rambling. Had some positive reviews from these videos, so enjoy!
  13. ok, some background: Providing fuel for RB25DET. Will be level with the engine, so shouldn't need to pump up or down to get there. Yes recirculating. will be outside in the air/wind. I could even attach heatsinks to it and shit, seriously. the biggest problem i see is the two little holes that leak. I don't really know what they are for, or if I can plug them up. i see two possible solutions, inside my budget: 1. convert this pump to external, commence happy funtimes. 2. attach box to bottom of fuel tank, submerse pump in that. have lines running out of that box. this would actually stop fuel starvation without having to put baffles in the tank (which is impossible in this situation), so i'm starting to lean towards this as a better solution. I wish someone knew what those little holes are for in the pump
  14. It would be far cheaper to convert this pump to external but if it's not possible my next option will be to attach a small box to the bottom of the tank, to house the pump (submerged). will still be far cheaper than buying another pump.
  15. Mm, while it's not going in a car, it would certainly be very unpleasant to have it leak petrol. Overheating is a good point. I might have to submerse it in a little surge tank thing under the main tank, which would solve all my problems, but create extra work. Such a pity that I can't get it into the main tank, and that real externals cost so much.
  16. Erm, dont have the cash? If I can plug up the leaky holes with no drastic side effects, will suit me a lot better.
  17. Hey guys, Working on a project, which calls for an external pump. I have an RB25DET standard internal pump (from a series 1 R33). Upon inspection, it seems to have tiny holes near the intake tube on the bottom of the pump. These seem to leak, which is not very awesome for an external pump. I guess my question is, can I safely plug these holes up? Or is there something else I can do to make this an external pump? Sadly I don't have a picture with me of the pump and its many holes. thanks in advance

How much do you charge for something like a flange or bracket? PM me
  19. if its your HG your oil will be milky. look under your oil cap for white shit. also it will overheat quickly. I bet it's the turbos, oil seal in the exhaust side leak
  20. meh, he didn't seem very keen to help me out to be honest, i think he just wanted me out of there... overall i was happy with the tune, but around town its a bit of a pain in the ass. i changed to hotter plugs and that helped quite a bit. steve tuned it, great powercurve etc, but i get the feeling it wasnt a "full tune", just a quick power tune or whatever. good on WOT, but needs more effort in the tune in the lower RPMs. i know john would be happy to have a look, but he'd be happy to charge me $$ to do it, and living in mandurah makes things hard. my plan was to fit a larger turbot next year - i have all the ancillaries (inc forged motor) - and tune for about 350rwhp (sr20det) can i get this done at sikpacks dyno with decent results?
  21. haha i forgot, again. i'll set myself a reminder.
  22. Hi N I B (if that is your REAL name...) - who do you recommend to do a nissan PFC tune? I originally got my PFC tune from top racing in perth, its pretty dodgy imo, nice smooth powercurve but bad drivability. I'll be looking sometime next year to get a retune once I get some more bits and pieces, will this new dyno be sufficient for my needs? cheers
  23. yeah I have pics at home, if I remember I'll post some up. its not the perfect job but it gives you a good idea of whats required etc. the battery isn't even strapped down in the box thats the next thing i wanted to do.
