  1. Okay, this argument needs CLARIFICATION: IIIIIIIIINnnnnnnnnnnnnn the BLUE Corner we have: MY99 WRX NON-STI - 3" Exhaust, Boost, FMIC IIiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnn the WHITE Corner we have: '98 R33 GTS-T - 3" Exhaust, Boost, FMIC WHICH CAR WILLL WIN IT IN THE BATTLE TO END ALL BATTLES! *cough* the r32 gtr will win.. *cough* (j/k)
  2. Naman: I paid about 23.5k to import my '89 GTR all up, if I had the money now with what I know i'd just find a genuine private seller and buy it locally for the same money
  3. There is too much of a focus on new high performance cars and not enough focus on unsafe old cars. (Their drivers tend to have less money to pay fines)
  4. benl: Why is it a good start? The Article has proven that performance of your car has nothing to do with it. People at a young age with performance cars fall into the following stereotypes: - Saved up whole life to afford car of dreams - Built the car themselves or with help - Worked their ass off or have a huge bank loan to get car - Mummy and Daddy bought it The last one is an exception because if the parents have the buying power what parent would want to buy their son/daughter a 'deathtrap'.. in most cases of parents buying cars that i've seen, they have usually forced the son/daughter to drive a close-to-new 4 cyl buzzbox. I fell into the worked hard and had a loan category back when I was on my P's, as i'm sure many others do. I was one of the only people I knew my age who had a turbo car, let alone fast car. I'm SICK of hearing the following line: "Back when I was on my P's, I sure am glad I didnt have a fast car, the CRAZY stuff I used to do..." MOST of the time the person saying this was driving an old crapbox they had no respect or value for, did not built with their own hands, probably a parents hand-me-down car and consequently drove the ringer out of it. The craziest driving i've ever seen has been in these buzzbox shopping trolleys, or old crap cars, because they aint getting no satisfcation otherwise. Young people with expensive performance cars are enthusiasts, they are more skilled and generally have respect for what they are driving. They also have a hell of a lot more to lose. Its despiccably stupid to look at some low life 17 year old with a trashed old commodore doing burnouts in the car park, then deciding therefore all other 17 year olds most not be allowed newer, more high performance cars. The fact the P Plater banned cars list even exists is unfathomable, and it's fantastic to see Research to back up how stupid our government really is.
  5. Let us know the outcome, sorry to hear.. Might be a wise idea not to drive the car till its fixed.
  6. LOL, agreed jas. I was shopping for a GTR for about 12 months. Until the day I decided to import one under the 15 year rule, I was looking at them priced between 28-35k. Two weeks after I signed up for an unexpected six week wait, the 15 year olds started appearing in the paper. Lucky for you, theres quite a few of them for sale, and you can buy them for anywhere between 18-30k. Because its an old car, Purchase based solely on the condition of the vehicle. The interior and underbody can tell you quite a lot. Your also lucky, because the flood of 15 year olds has had a signifigant supply/demand effect on cars aged 91-94, and you can now pick up a 94 model for as low as $25k. Its a fact that importing is for the wealthy, you really need to have excess cash sitting around for the just-in-case scenario, and then theres the unexpected time delays involved. If you look hard enough (check the for sale section) you should find some for about 22-23k in great condition
  7. Its funny how common sense aint so common anymore... And it takes research/studies like this to keep the braindead public and government from banning pretty much everything that doesnt somehow feed money to some large corporation.
  8. fake400r: What are your motivations behind wanting a 32 gtr?
  9. suckpoo: We all know "real men" drive v8s.
  10. But you cant do skids or dorifto, Jazza.
  11. Actually the original poster was asking about both cars in a performance aspect, taking modifications into consideration. Forget STi's, Forget GTRs.. Which car would be better on bang for your buck on mods? Ahem. Sorry. Personal opinion.. I think because a rexy is a FWD biased 4 door, (think rx/gs with a turbo and awd) - Its my opinion that it's a glorified shopping trolley. I prefer driving a rwd car.. And the AWD system on the GTR is what makes Nissan cars so much better. All comes down to what you want. Some people learn to drive in shitty little lasers and fords, old hondas etc that are FWD and just like that driving style. I've always driven RWD, and to me its the only basis for a decent vehicle. And for the Haters, your mothers smells like farts.
  12. Dee 33: Not if you get a really good deal!!!! j/k I think your all just a bunch of whinging babies I know a girl who bought a Toyota Celica last year for 18k its now worth 14k if she's lucky. Ask someone who bought a commodore how much its gone down in value in the last 12 months.. Its not just imports that drop in value fast
  13. Thats like the pot calling the Kettle black isnt is krzysiu? A WRX is nothing more than a turbocharged shopping trolley with 4 doors, a crappy subaru 'box and Mum-friendly handling characteristics. What part am I missing mate? I am yet to be impressed by a Subaru that has the usual suspect mods: Exhaust, Boost, FMIC.. Would you trust your car with your Mum in the wet? What about a WRX with the same power?
  14. my s13's box whined.. my 32's box whines.. I am told its a lack of bearing lubrication and is kind of a bastard to get to, is this true?
  15. I can just see their peanut sized brains now.. "OH YEAH! WELL I AM NOT AFRAID TO BREAK THE LAW! So Nuuhhh!"
  16. only buy the rx7 if you want to use your car to pull chicks. (some would consider that a pretty valid reason) but you'll miss the ATTESA around corners and feel like less of a man.
  17. i'd say either/or are highly likely, duh. FYI I'm not aware of any RB26 that came out of the factory with a fluro blue rocker cover Let us know if you find out
  18. silver gts-t: Yours is Ok because its huge, on a Skyline and not mounted sideways. Its those 2" ones that are mounted on their side on every GetZ that Getz me.
  19. Hey Guys, This takes the cake.. Just took the car to the petrol station for some gas, came out and had these nice old guys marvelling at my GTR, asking questions about it, amazed and in awe.. I was being pretty friendly towards the fellow nissan enthusiasts who had an older done up pulsar. Anyway so we're briefly talking and this guy in a v8 comes up next to us and goes "WHATS IT GOT IN IT MAAAaaattee".. One of the guys goes "Hah! we where just talking about that" Bogan sensors going crazy I suggested that it was a Skyline when the bogan insisted on asking if it was a Silvia. Now let me at this part of the story paint a picture for you.. The bogan had some 16 year old slapper from the pub firmly planted in his passenger seat. I dont know much about commodores but I know my friend has a VP and its the same bubble shape, though I could tell from the note it was a v8. Anyways this guy loses it saying "Dont talk to me about cars mate" (after telling him what car I owned) "It sucks air" (or something to that effect) "I'm taking mine down south to get supercharged blah blah blah 400kw" "Smoke your Jap CRAP" Meanwhile, me and these other guys are dumbfounded, one of the guys goes "Yeah that thing looks like it needs a baby seat in the back." I was too shocked to utter the fateful "Go back to ipswich/woodridge/inala mate" but it had to happen. Anyone else got any Bogan encounter stories?
  20. Wow, and i've been over Cannons since 2002. Looks like people are starting to catch on I think drawing attention to your exhaust is asking for unnecessary cop attention. TBH I think (but dont know for sure) that the performance difference between a cannon and a 3" straight-through is marginal. Rice cannons do not seem to be good 'bang for your buck' in terms of performance vs cost. My neighbour has a WRX with a carbon fibre cannon that cost him 550 bucks alone.. I could get a full 3.5" straight-through system for about that money. I'd be interested to hear otherwise.
  21. - shithouse turning circle (not what you'd expect for a small car) - getting a bit old now, be sure to buy a 94 auction grade 3.5+ - guzzles fuel like crazy (not what you'd expect for a small car) - lots of work to drive fast in stock form +/- rally style driving position + cheap performance package for < GTR money + solid lifters + kills Subarus/commodores etc + still many people out there who dont expect to get owned by one
