Let's Talk Pcv...

Here's a thought. You go from idle to WOT with the recirc system. It puts the head under a bit more -ve pressure compared to idling, the gases in the bottom end try and equalise pressure and so flow up into the head, but this is right when you are wanting to stop build up of oil in the head and that oil is trying to drain down against the flow of gas up caused by your extra -ve pressure? Surely better to leave the head just at atmospheric pressure and the system open? -

Doesn't the RB crankcase breath through the head with the stock set up? I thought that was the point of the breather system on the rocker covers. I understand that gases coming from the bottom end are competing against oil trying to flow back in the opposite direction, but otoh if you are producing a load of gas then surely you have a busted piston ring at the very least? -

Sure but does he run it through a catch can before it goes to the intake? -

You mean like how traction control was removed, engine sizes made smaller and rev limits reduced? De-engineering comes from F1 rules not what the teams want. They would be driving computer controlled V8 turbos with continuously variable transmissions if they had free reign. -

F1 will go back to manual gearboxes soon. Mark my words. It's the only way to be for people who actually appreciate driving and CAN drive. If you watch that video of senna taking the NSX around Suzuka you will understand. You just can't exercise that sort of flair and craft in an auto car. It's too easy. -

Yet you go on R35 forums and everyone is willy waving and patting themselves on the back for the impressive stock 1/4 mile times of the car they just bought. At least most GTST owners know the business end of a spanner. -
What Not To Do To Your Ecr33
Tony de Wonderful replied to HtwCHACtkh's topic in Projects, Overhauls and Build-ups
To see the extra stiffness benefits you need to put the car under high loads which you jacking a wheel doesn't do. If you want to experiment get some strain gauges on the chassis and hit a track. -

Yeah exactly, he has just measured ambient temps near the pod filter with the bonnet open and (presumably) the car idling. To extrapolate this to IAT's when actually driving is not very rigorous. Dunno either but I LOL's a lot. Don't be so high and mighty! I have to agree with Roy here, we have all made stupid mistake and foolish mods when we started out. Me I still consider myself a learner, I have made this dumb mistake to date: Car rolled off jack, but luckily all wheels were on but still tipped over an axle stand and did minor damage. Trashed the flare nut thread on a brembo caliper. Bent cross member with a jack (slighly). Rounded flare nut. Put wrong coil packs in and wrecked them doing so lol. I'm not sure if the OP is doing satire or is serious but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, so good luck to him. -
Ok so I hear some people say that the RB benefits from positive crankcase ventilation and some say it does not? So should you just let it breath 'oh naturale', or does it benefit from a bit of -ve pressure to suck out those fumes and blow by? FYI I couldn't give a monkeys about emissions laws it is purely for the health of the engine.

I think what he is saying is that at the sharp end of drag racing AWD is no advantage, it is only on street tyres and for drivers who can't drive that it helps a lot. -

The OEM VLSD on the GTST is a bit rubbish too. I've got a Cusco 1 way and it helps hook up better for sure. -
What is the best way to cut a hole near the washer bottle to run some IC piping up through? Also how do you know for sure where to cut it? It is for a Plazmaman plenum and Plazmaman IC piping on an ERC33.

Well the DSG (cough...auto) does give quite a big advantage on the strip, also the R35 GTR has more gears so can make better use of its torque curve. It's almost like a continuously variable transmission. -

Yeah but it takes a massive amount of man essence to pilot that rwd GTST. A school girl could drive a GTR fast though. -

Throttle Body Size?

Thanks for the responses. There are some calculators on the web in places. I might play around with them at some point, but I am thinking to just stay stock, mainly for cheapness and modulation. Calculator -

Sure but who takes corners at 10/10ths on the street? Seems to be a lot of GTR driving Heros on here who take corners on the street so hard the ATTESA has to fight to keep them pointing straight. -

Yeah but you might have got 374kw with a 90mm TB. I just don't know. I'm thinking of settling on a 72 mm TB. My pipe work is all 2.5" so can't see 72mm being a restriction as such. My main issues is bolting it on to the Plazmaman. I know the Plazmaman takes the stock one, and I know the 72mm fits the stock plenum. The 90mm TB's need an adapter I think? So the 72mm would just conveniently bolt on w/out a need for an adapter? -

That's just hyperbole. No traction in 3rd even? C'mon!
