  1. Hahaha id love to give it a go, Its an unreal little bit of windy road that one. Jenolan caves road is also a lot of fun, went down with the missus once in the r33, which was actually a bad idea, she doesnt approve of how i drive sometimes didnt get to make the most of it! I think the road into megalong valley in Blackheath is also really nice, minus the excessively windy bit at the top which i smashed my front lip on . The newly sealed part is excellent though!
  2. Had an awesome day, minus smashing my front bar coming down the twisty part into megalong, apparently did that a little too quickly Coming back up was even more fun, that part thats all new road is unreal, nice and twisty but can still see far enough ahead to have some fun one day im going to bring a clean car to a cruise always makes me feel bad seeing everyone elses pristine cars haha, i always run out of time!
  3. Potentially some interesting weather haha, currently snowing up here atm, lets hope we don't get that on the weekend! Could make the drive a bit errrr interesting
  4. Will definitely be in! Its a great drive! Also misses lives about 10 mins away from the ending destination works well Will be bringing the 180sx! Sold my skyline last night :'( will be greatly missed!
  5. Ahhh i was in the black on black 180sx so understandable if i wasn't included haha, line wasnt coming out this time, its getting sold ! I would much rather be associated with you guys though, Its a whole different atmosphere/attitude to some of the 'other' groups I was just following lu57in upfront cos hes the only person i actually know, he was able to look after me make sure i didnt get lost haha!
  6. I think that's a brilliant idea, I wouldn't mind going in either first/last 3 either, now ive got an engineers certificate for all mods i think i will actually enjoy throwing it in their face (politely) if i get pulled over haha! By the way i have no idea who you are by face but your car was looking truly amazing!! Goes for a lot of people actually, cars are familiar nfi who actually own them!!!
  7. Was a nice day minus p platers in commodores...... I didnt realise how dirty my car was haha captured nicely in one of the photo's (the black 180sx) Was an enjoyable day though! Sorry to hear about anyone who got defected !
  8. Oh the peace of mind of having an engineers certificate haha. Hopefully my days of defects are over! I would be really interested in bringing my 180sx along for the cruise I live in the mountains so would come to Hawkesbury lookout as well as its on the way home You'll all have to come say hello and be friendly though as i wont know anyone else
  9. I took my skyline down last year and drove it to the slopes 5 days in a row, i completely forgot about the chains rule and didn't have them. Wasn't an issue, gotta look out for the black ice though, problem is you cant see it, you'll know it when you hit it though. Just be sensible/don't be overly cocky and work your way up to it I had no trouble though it was a NA r33, handled it all very well. something with more power would probably be a bit more of an issue, i just bought a 180sx and i nearly lost it in the wet the other day :S Still not used to the turbo haha. Wouldn't want to take it to the snow........... yet
  10. Grey r34 with the SAU sticker on the back window, on Great Western, Was behind you/passed you from like Faulconbridge-> Warimoo I was in the black 180sx running late for work
  11. Thanks for all the replies! I guess looks like ill be getting a mechanic to look over it....anyone know a good mechanic in Sutherland are haha? I will definitely swap the plates, i had never thought about the points raised. Seems definitely worthwhile! Hoping so much the bodywork is straight, planning to run it till it dies/ i can afford to have some serious fun with mods .
  12. Been looking at purchasing a 32, problem being its defected for noise and emissions. From my experience with my own defects, i know that they're a lot more hassle than what you actually get done for. Just because the noise/emissions could easily be fixed doeesnt mean your out of the water, im guessing to get a blue slip/get it registered a mechanic is going to want to go over all other mods?! Meaning either stripping alot off or getting a engineers certificate? both costly and a big hassle making it not worthwhile. Whats everyone's thoughts on this? I was thinking if serious about it i could get a mechanic to check it out and tell me what id need to do to get it on road again get a quote, then if reasonable get it all done?
  13. Definitely in for this one, never thought id see a SAU even in the Blue mountains haha, somewhat convenient, living in Faulconbridge at the moment. My First SAU event, ill have to see if any mates are interested before i buy tickets but definitely in for the cruise. Just a heads up though about getting into edge carpark at one end there is a kind of decent sized bump, my car scrapes if i hit it straight on, or if i have passengers it i have to take it real slow, and my cars not that low, possibly has something to do with the disgustingly shaped bodykit on it ! But i think there is 2 entrances anyway? i only ever come/go through one. i dont want to put anyone off!
  14. Dunno how relevant or true this now as its dated 2007? but i read this last night and certainly got some amusement out of it http://www.speedingfineconsultants.com/ Pretty much lists your rights and what to do if caught so you can fight it in court, but yeah the interesting part was about what cops ARENT meant to be doing, like that theyre not allowed to set up in a concealed location/on hills/on bend/anywhere that isnt a known blackspot or high risk area and also that the guns arent designed to be used at oncomming traffic? it all sounds too good to be true, anyone elses opinion?
  15. Think ive seen that guy before too, has the massive wing on the back too? I always see it around blaxland/lapstone. I drove down to Penrith tafe from faulconbridge the otherday and drove past 4 people getting pulled over/cops with radar traps set up, 3 on opposite side of the road one on mine. Not a good time to be driving like that in the mountains.
  16. Thanks, i did of course try the all knowing google, but didnt come up with what i wanted, possibly searching for the wrong thing?
  17. Im looking for workshops that have an emphasis on performance/import cars, so who better to ask than fellow skyline owners? The reason being id like to get a job/career in this industry, as its one of my main passions, problem being, i don't know of many places that do this kind of work, and i only know them by name (croydon racing etc). So was wondering as you have already taken the time to open this thread could you spare 30 secs to post any places you know of that do work on cars like ours? I know this question gets asked alot, im not asking you to find me a job, just any suggestions of workshops that fit the description, and ill do the fun part of rocking up and asking for an apprenticeship I figure once i get a list of acouple i can ask them of similar places/if they know anyone who might be interested. I live in cranebrook at the moment, and i don't mind travelling into the city for the right sort of job. thanks.
  18. The spring that pushes the catch thing to grip into the teeth as you pull up is missing/broken, its not hard to fix i just lift the leather boot and push the latch into the teeth and its fine, then release as normal. Got a new muffler for 200$ and had it installed, sitting at 89dB now i checked the sound at 3200rpm as that was the only figure i could find online, turns out rb25de's are tested at 4800rpm so i was fair bit off, but at 3200rpm we measured it at 103dB, so im guessing its even louder at the 4800rpm. Yes its really loud, if you sit in the back seats for any period of time you will probably go deaf . Spent 2thousand on my subs/speakers to overpower it though lol.
  19. So i got a box as suggested(thanks for that) , from high octane was 85$. And fitted it (with some difficulty/adjustments) and all was good, went to mechanic to get it all ticked off, thinking it would only take 15 mins. 3 hours later he comes back with a nice list of other things i need to get fixxed because the cop ordered a full inspection not just a part inspection so things such as handbreak not staying up ( missing a spring and when i had a look turns out its a silvia handbreak not a skyline one?) I need a light for rear number plate, kinda new that one and power sterring fluid leaking But the main killer is the exhaust, he couldnt test it but said that he thought it was too loud so id have to go get it tested somewhere else. So my old man has the equipment to test it, so figured we would just to get a ballpark figure of where it was at, tested it at 3200rpm because that was what was suggested in the adr guidelines here http://www.ntc.gov.au/filemedia/Reports/Na...estSept2006.pdf for a pre 1995 6 cylinder engine. When tested it was hitting bout the 105db area (90db is limit )and now i need to fix all this before december 5 or the car gets de-registered. Any thoughts? im looking for pretty much the easiest way to pass the test? Id rather not have to buy a new muffler get that installed etc, i like having a loud exhaust, it sounds beautiful
  20. Thanks alot ill check out just jap, i got a r33 RB25DE hopefully they make them to suit. Those pics of your car are pretty nice!
  21. Thanks for your imput, the pod filter was put on before i bought the car, therefore i dont have the original air box to switch back to if anyone wants to lend me one before friday that would be great but i don't like my chances of that. At this stage i just want to pass the inspection i can worry about making a more permenent solution afterwards. As to your rant about my Tacho, i agree with you completely, its a cheapo dodgy looking guage which has been secured quite horribly, i didn't put it on and don't see the point of it as it doesnt even work, however the alternative is to take it off cut some wires i know nothing about and leave them hanging out.... I did do a search for similar posts and did read through them, though none of them gave me the answer i wanted, just alot of "i thinks" and "am pretty sure" opinions of what the law about pod filters is and how to deal with it.
  22. I don't have the stock airbox, pod filters been in the car since i bought it otherwise a good idea Sux been on green P's as im sure you know we get picked on alot, i didnt have a front P plate, i have a tacho on the A pillar (aparently thats illegal too?) and a somwehat loud exhaust which is pointing slighly upwards which is also aparently illegal but luckily no-one noticed anyone have any pics/descriptions of what the box has to look like? The police officer was very vague and non helpful, is just a metal sheet bent to shape betweeen the filter and the engine good enough??
  23. yeah id like to get an engineers cert idealy, i guess ill just have to ask around mechanics? If anyone knows of err a "good place" to get an engineers cert a pm would be greatly appreciated getting a box is last alternative does a heatshield for a pod filter count as a box? if so ill just do that i guess.
  24. So i was lucky enough to get pulled over for one of those "random" breath tests. Police car was 2 cars infront, put on the sirens/lights pulled into a side street did a u turn then came straight after me... Well anyway they got me pop the hood and had a look, and gave me a defect and a $141 fine for not having the pod filter in an inclosed box(its not secured either but didn't say anything about that) So my question is what do i do next? I have until friday to get it fixxed and then i was told by the officer to take it down to local RTA (Penrith Rta) where they will do an inspection. But talking to someone at work i got the impression all i need is an engineers certificate and i can just show them that? I'd much rather take it to a mechanic and get a engineer cert and then stuff that in theyre face so they leave me alone than have someone from rta going all through my car, and finding a whole bunch of other things too? exhaust is possibly not 100% illegal so id rather not give myself more complications. And an engineer certificate i can keep in the glove box and whip out everytime i get pulled over. Talking to my co worker he said there are mechanics who will just give you a cert without even bothering to go through everything? That would kinda be ideal, the pod filter/exhaust is only aftermarket performance parts. Anyone who could shed some light on the subject/share theyre similar experiences/solutions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
  25. I had one of mine cleaned and one replaced, cost me 650$ all up, that was from local place and the guy wasnt 100% sure what was wrong so spent some time screwing around. Hope that helps.
