R33 Gearbox Whining Noise
nickperth replied to nickperth's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
So would you recommend i go to a transmission specalist and get them to tell me whats exactly wrong or is there any way i can check it my self, cause if its the countershaft/4th gear input would i have to take out the gearbox and check. The reason i am asking is its not really a problem to have my 33 off the road as i got other cars i can drive, as well i wouldnt mind saving some money. -
Hey hows it going ive got a r33 gts-t and my gearbox recently has been whining latetly it happens in all gears from about 3000 rpm im not sure were i could possible start and whats causing it. Though i do have to admit i did do a 2nd gear powerslide couple nights before that and i am running stock clutch. However i dont get any gear crunches or have any problems while driving or as if the gears are slipping, its just this large whine and i feel the car is a bit slower though espically when it starts to whine. I have read on the net about other whining issues but i couldnt relate to any of them that compared to mine. As mine just happens from 3000rpm to the rev limit.

My Gts-t Series 2 -
Hey hows it going, i got a quick question, is there any difference between the rb25 r33 powerfc versions for series 1 r33's and series 2, for example if i get a powerfc from a r33 series 1 will i have any issues connecting it to my series 2.
-
Ive got an 06 and 04 wrx, to be honest for a stuck clutch they are heavy but sometimes the gearboxes do have a slight issue like you described putting it in reverse ive noticed but it only happens that very so often, it could just mean it needs a gearbox oil change.

Change your spark plugs, run 95 at least, change your o2 sensor and get a pod filter which will help. Clean your AFM and maybe clean your injectors. If nothing changes i highly suggest get a SAFC it will get you extra power and much better fuel economy. I used to get 250ks a tank i got a SAFC and a tune and i got more power and was average 450-500ks a tank.

How is that going to help, from the outside it might be hell see it when he looks under the car and under the bonnet.

I am keen and interested just depending on the date.

Ive removed the engine control fuse and now the car seems to be working fine it turns off like its supposed to. I forgot to mention i also filled in the missing spot for it last night so i guess that was the cause of the problem. But i just want to make sure is it bad if the engine control fuse section doesnt have a fuse in it because im not sure really what it does.

ive removed the turbo timer and ive removed the fuse i think its down to a short circuit could you tell me were a good place you would recommend i look for the short circuit.

This car currently has no immobilizer or alarm system, ill give what you listed a shot now.

By the way ive disconnected the turbo timer power so the turbo timer aint operation but the problem hasnt changed.

Hey hows it going a i got R33 Series 2 Manual Skyline and tonight i replaced a fuse that blew that controlled my interior lights. When i installed it i drove home and when i took the key out of the ignation the turbo timer didnt kick in so i tried shutting it off and the car wouldn't shut off. Only way i can shut off my car is if i take out my main fuse or stall it. Now i have checked all the fuses and none of them seem to be blown. However im not 100% sure on how do you check the fuses in the boot if they are blown or not. However there's another problem is that the dash lights wont turn off even when the ignition key is out and turned off. Only way i turn them off is disconnecting the battery. So if theres anyone out there that could shed some light on this problem and help me out, i will gratefully thankful for you help. Yours Truly, Nick

Hey hows it going, i got a R33 GTS-T Series 2, i have a stock diff in this car and i would like to know if my revs are showing correctly on my spedo as when im doing 100ks an hour in my skyline it shows that im doing just under 3k in 5th gear is this correct as my SAFC doesnt show that it shows im doing roughly 2550-2600. I aint sure who i should trust. Yours Truly, Nick

R33 Gts-T Problem While Driving On Freeway
nickperth replied to nickperth's topic in General Maintenance
No the transmission is manual, only reason i have SAFC as cant afford yet a powerfc -
Hey hows it going, i got a R33 GTS-t S2, which is currently tuned on a SAFC i got full exhaust except dump pipe, front mount, apexi afc and pod filter so just the usual mods its currently tuned for 12psi and 98 octane. Now i recently got it tuned and it feels much better and responsive and ive experienced better fuel economy however, i did have a rough idle which i fixed with a set of spare coil packs lying around and i had some miss fires in the 4-5k rev range which was solved with the change of coil packs. But i have this problem every time im on the free way cruising at a 100 when i open up the throttle a little it has this sort of hesitation to go and sort of feels like sometimes its loosing power now im not sure what would be the cause of this problem as i have no air leaks or anything and i don't experience it cruising under a 100 or planting it over 100. But just roughly when staying at a certain rev over 100 or at a 100 and open the throttle up a tiny bit it has that tend of hesitation. Now could this problem be due to the coil packs still or would it be worth while to invest in some split fire coil packs or could this down to another problem. I got another question what color should the transmission oil be and roughly at how many intervals should you change it. Yours Truly, Nick
