Cd Stacker Issue (V35)
Nightcrawler replied to RushOfWind's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
That is a 2nd hand original kit. DON'T EVER CONSIDER USING THE METRA. It is a pos. You can spot the Metra rubber buttons a mile off - they are crap and apparently the climate units are know for failing. Colour match is perfect on mine. -
Cd Stacker Issue (V35)

Mark, buy this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2003-04-Infiniti-G35-double-din-radio-installation-kit-/260850782012?pt=Car_Audio_Video&hash=item3cbbeb0f3c or a new one = $300 shipped these days and this http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/354186-for-sale-thread/page__st__6720__p__5994404#entry5994404 ---> similar to what I have and is AWESOME! = profit!!! -
I am pretty sure I have this one - it is actually a Megan Racing copy http://cgi.ebay.com/...=item23141637c7 From memory the shipping was cheaper when I got it, so you might want to query the shipping rate. Andrew at AM Performance ended up having to cut the passenger side Kinetix hfc in 2 places to get it to fit perfectly. Cost me $120 as it required removing the hfc and refitting a couple of times as well as the cuts and mig welding. Was spewing i didn't fork out the extra $200 or so for the titanium hfcs of another brand in the end. I emailed the US seller to tell him that the Kinetic hfcs do not fit properly and I am pissed off about it, but he didn't even take the time out to reply. Bolt-on my ass. I also had a custom 3" mid-pipe made to replace the stock resonator piece and fitted a 3" Apexi ECV. But it turned out to be way too loud and raspy when full open. Then I did a country trip and somehow managed to tap the Apexi ecv on the driveshaft at decent rpm just hard enough to smash the ECV and ruin it. I subsequently pulled off the ECV and have now had Andrew fit a high flow resonator to the 3" mid pipe - it is now nearly silent at idle, but has a very healthy growl when I hit the loud pedal. Very happy with how it turned out. Now I need to get some fat quad titanium rear pipes fitted to fill out the rear bar I have fitted - as the single pipe looks all lonely in the gaping hole around it on each side at the rear.

Your first issue is don't use Shell fuel - it is junk. ONLY use BP Ultimate, or Mobil 8000 if you can't get to a BP. My V35 does not run well on Liberty, Shell or Caltex. I have tried them and not only do I get worse economy from those fuels, the car doesn't feel as smooth or as powerful. For reference on a shocking tank my V35 350GT with a 65l tank gets at WORST 13 litres/100km - and that is all city driving with lots of sitting around with the a/c running. On country trips I often see 10 litres/100km or slightly better. And mine is modified and running 175rwkw, AND I always drive like they are designed to be driven - HARD!

Yeah you are right mate - the second time I ordered a veal schnitzel and the chick said "no it's pork", I was like wtf - I am sure I have veal or chicken last time!
-
It tastes a lot like chicken, but I guarantee that they only do, and have always done pork schnitzels! Abe is dead right.
-
So you want more and more and more power, and a GTR style body kit .... why don't you just buy the right car = sell your Gtst and buy a GTR. It is the only real answer. As everyone has said above, you will continue spending significant amounts of money to get more power .... start on the right foot and just buy a GTR!

Wtb: 15-25Mm Bolt On Spacers
Nightcrawler replied to HiEUmungus's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Do a bit of reading around and you will find that NO-ONE recommends running spacers full-time (or at all for that matter). By changing the contact surface area of your wheel to your hub, adding another set of nuts to come loose (that you can't easily check on regularly), combined with the increased torque of running your wheels wider from the hub than they are designed, impacts on your wheel bearing life, and lots of other safety factors. Also if you have an accident and your insurance company realises you were running spacers, they will completely void your insurance. Just so you know. -

Drivers Door Not Locking With Remote?
Nightcrawler replied to alex.a's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Search around on SAU - this topic has been posted dozens of times before. There is also a YouTube video of how to replace your oem actuator with an aftermarket one. -
Sadly the Nissan dual din kits do NOT come with dual zone climate - dual zone are not made in a single din interface. But as Glen pointed out all you have to do is unsolder the dual zone button and assembly off your stock BOSE setup and solder it into the new climate controller (there is a blank spot for it).

Sorry to tell you Brendan, but things are going to get MUCH worse before they get better. Look at how are travelling at the moment - unemployment is at historical lows (despite Labor screwing up Work Choices and driving dozens of big businesses out of Australia), interest rates are historically low and in general we are not too badly off. Yet, 25% of Australians are currently in serious financial distress and in danger of losing their homes. During the property boom (2002-2006) the banks were VERY irresponsible indiscriminately giving out way too much money to people who couldn't really afford it (often at 100%+ loans). These people bought huge houses that were significantly more expensive than what they really could afford and should have been buying. Move forward in time to when the carbon tax comes in; power, food, transport, fuel and everything we do goes up in price by 15-20% ..... along with rises in unemployment (as people don't have as much disposable cash to spend = businesses cut back on staff), inflation goes out of control due to the rises in prices - so the RBA have to put up interest rates to try and dampen inflation - MORE people start losing their homes. It is a BIG nasty circle and it is about to hit us hard. I can't see how we can avoid it I am sad to say. Too many people been living way beyond their means for way too long. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/markets/one-in-four-australians-unable-to-meet-living-costs-coredata-survey-shows/story-e6frg916-1226129930046

Bollocks, that is a load of crap. And if another government was in power they wouldn't have blown the $50bn for bogans to buy smokes and booze to put us in this much debt, that we now need to get ourselves out of. The Liberals would actually use any funds taken as a carbon levy to actually do some positive good in creating green energy etc, rather than just fill their budget black hole like Gillard is going to do. Fact, Labor have approved the feed-in tariff of home solar energy production to reduce to less than 65% of the Liberal-instated levels as of Oct 1. Fact, Labor have scrapped the solar rebate scheme and are currently phasing it out. Fact, as soon as KRudd got in he made the solar rebate means tested, so the wealthy have to pay full tote odds for a solar system. If they gave the slightest toss about the environment they would be UPPING all of these things, NOT wiping them out!!!!!

Haha Matty - sick buuuuuuuuuuuuuuurn ouch it hurts so bad. Muahahahahahaha
-
or are you going to buy a man's car instead?
-
You haven't even heard the start of it yet Jenna - if the website says you will be $600 worse off, you can easily quadruple that or more methinks .... once the tax filters down at reach level of production, transport, wholesale and sale the prices of everything will increase significantly. Then as inflation rapidly rises the RBA needs to increase interest rates so rent/mortgages go up (they are linked), etc etc. Plus, as the video points out, $23 is the STARTING price of carbon - it will rapidly increase without cap.
-
^^^ lol $15k? Does it come with an R32GTR thrown in? You will notice there are no pictures inside the engine bay - I can only imagine what it looks like. Seriously, you could buy a stock wagon for $1k, spend $2k doing the paint and bits yourself and you have the same car .... what a joke

Cd Stacker Issue (V35)
Nightcrawler replied to RushOfWind's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
The BOSE system is a bit of a pos anyway - just buy a dual din kit and put a decent touch screen DVD player/stereo in and Bob's your uncle. -
No you are not rambling Steve .... it the exact thought process I went through .... in the last 3 months I owned the R34 I put on stainless braided brake lines, new silicone heater hoses, gold passivated slotted rotors and all sorts of little items, but the fact is things were going to keep going wrong and how much should you pour into an old car? My thoughts for you are easy - sell the R34 and use the funds supercharge the V36. Saves 1 extra lot of rego/insurance, plus once you have spent the $10 on the supercharger and accessories you will have 300rwkw in a very comfortable luxury cruiser that doesn't attract police attention

Looks awesome David - glad to see it is finally back on the road. Now you need to join up to SAU:SA www.sausa.com.au and come on our upcoming Members only dawn cruise and show it off! Then the SAU Nationals are 28-30 October and you can come over with all of us and race it at Winton Is it a rear Nur engine, or did you just paint it?

I have moved this thread out of the V35 section, as 1). that is not the right place, and 2) you will get more/better responses when it is posted in the correct place.
