Changed To A Gtr Vspec Cluster, Dash Warning Light On

You're right lachlan! It is the handbrake light (I actually don't have much of a clue what the dash lights mean since I've only recently bought this car and don't have a manual but it's a generic symbol damn lol). My handbrake was 0.5cm up and the light was on, never happened before didn't know it was this sensitive. I'm an idiot!!! Thanks for your help mate. -
Hi guys, Today I got my r33 gtr cluster changed with a second hand one from a GTR vspec, got it done at an auto electrician. I've got that red exclamation mark on - it was present when I drove off with it I thought it'd just turn off by itself. I'll probably call the guy up and tomorrow and try to get it fixed before I go off on my honeymoon, but has anyone else had this problem? I know that I don't have active LSD, could that be the cause? I hate having a red light on in the cluster. He gave me a card of another guy that can fix my original cluster, I'll try get it fixed instead I reckon to keep the stock look rather than having some fake odometer reading and no A-LSD. Hi boys, I'm a big fan of the Skyline but unfortunately I don't have a lot of spare time to chase parts. I'm a doctor working full time but I'm usually free on weekends. I live in the Bankstown area. I'm hoping to tap into the local knowledge of skyline enthusiasts I'm not really after a debate as to what's the absolute best thing to do, more like whatever keeps your baby running as I'm using the car as a daily hehe The car is stock standard and I intend to keep it that way (don't want police trouble). Things I need help with: 1. Crappy oil from the guy I bought it from, some quite thick pennzoil - takes about 5 min warm up time before the car can rev smoothly. I'll be replacing the oil soon, I'm running 0-40 Mobil 1 full synthetic in the missus Saab 9-3 2001 (damn expensive oil like $90-100 for 5L), would it be ok to use the same oil in the gtr? I need something readily available. If anyone knows of where I can get Motul oil near Bankstown it would be much appreciated! 2. Oil filter - ryco ones from supercheap should be ok? 3. Air filter, fuel filter- where can I get these? 4. Spark plugs- probably stick with NGK, they have been good to me in other cars. Something about needing re-gap? 5. 100, 000km service - i'm at 92,000 km... should think about investing in the ~$500 100k kit soon yes? 6. Fuel economy - probably getting less than 400km/tank driving to and from work, half the time on the motorway and quite soft on the pedal... is that decent or should I look into the o2 sensor? 7. Is it worth it getting the car tuned? Seems to have quite a bit of lag (wife's saab 2L turbo accelerates smooth like a baby's butt and can probably rip me in a drag race). Hope you guys can help a brother out with your wisdom hehe Cheers! Son.

Supra is a good choice if you like the smooth curves, they look awesome standard. I was tossing between a supra and skyline, decided skyline coz supra didn't look as manly.

PMs sent, thanks guys! There's also a guy on ebay 'mybodykits' that said he has r33 GTR bumpers made to order for $330 + postage for those interested. Have been talking to him past few days, waiting for him to send me a pic. He has GTST bars that look like GTR ones listed at the moment, they look OK but won't be compatible for me. I'll give SSS Girraween a call tomorrow. Cheers! fib PS. I just wish this ordeal would be over so I can drive my baby again. Funny thing was, it was left in the workshop for about 4 days because of a stalling problem, cleaned AFM and it's awesome, next day this happened lol. I've ordered a pair of standard indicators because somehow one of them disintegrated leaving only the bulb plug and wiring left yet the impact was nowhere near there.

I bought my car 4 weeks ago and it was doing the same thing: -dropping revs and stalling when slowing down -dropping revs and threatening to stall with aircon on -stalling/misfiring on acceleration (all in a matter of within 3 days). Sent it to the mechanic took them 3 days to work out what was wrong, they cleaned the AFMs and the car seems completely different now, it actually goes on boost. Will have a look at the contacts if this problem comes up again.

Hehe it's good to know bumpers are still available somewhere. I've only owned the GTR for 4 weeks but sort of regretting it now considering how hard it is to find parts. Now I'm looking for the two front indicators. One of them popped off and smashed to pieces, the other one looks in bad shape lol Yet again at least the intecooler was untouched

Another update: Just missed out by a day, fellow SAU guy was selling the front bumper (maroon one). However I've found a guy on ebay selling new bumpers, says he has a GTR bumper it's two piece the bar and lip. I was wondering, do GTR bumpers come in 2 piece? I'm awaiting a pic from him. Hi guys, Where can I find an r33 GTR bumper? Freaking hell today I was driving on hume hwy when the car in front of me suddenly swerved and I ran into a tyre on the road. Luckily I managed to slow down from 70 to 20km/h before hitting it and only sustained bumper damage, intercooler untouched I think it's just really inconsiderate of people to just drive around road obstacles and leave it for others to have an accident on. Wow nice dude! So you don't have to cut the original headlights to get the HID projectors in? I'm tempted to do this but I'm afraid the GTR would attract even more police attention I regularly get pulled over at least once/wk for breath testing near where I live.

Chris you legend! I'm such a bonehead haha when you told me to take a picture I took it both front and back, and what do you know? The back says "Mongoose M80 Series". Earlier today I asked the previous owner what alarm he had and he didn't have a clue!

Hey guys, I'm not sure what immobilizer I have, but I can see a mongoose battery pack I think it's there to keep the siren going when the battery is dead *shrugs*. The car also has that 30 second immobilizer function not certain if it auto locks itself I haven't check (at the moment I have it hidden in my fiance's garage until I get used to driving manual). How do I check what immobilizer I have? Can someone post a pic of their remote? I have a pair of greyish-black remotes with buttons "I" - to activate/deactivate and "II" to silence on it. I have the exact same problem! On the inside of the headlights, bought it like that. The issue with one xenon headlight being brighter than the other, or one flickering happened to me on another car, I bought a wiring harness that goes direct from the battery to the globes (has a switch in between included), worked wonders. Apparently one globe doesn't get as much power as the other through the stock wiring so the harness evens it out by going directly from the battery instead. Hope that helps!

Hi guys! I've just bought 1995 R33 GTR, my first manual car so I'm still learning how to drive it! Got it after finally convincing the missus to let me have one, bought the RB26 exactly on my 26th birthday hehe. The car was imported in 2007 for $28.6k @ 65,000 km, it is nearing the 3 year warranty on it the owner has serviced the car every 5000km/6months to maintain the warranty with receipts to prove it. I bought it for $18k @ 90,000km. I have lurked these forums for years pining over buying a skyline. Anyway, I've got this problem with the car. The rev meter with the engine off and no keys in the ignition is at zero. With the key in and turning on the power but engine still off the revs dance between 3500 to 4000 RPM is that even normal? Something I did not notice when my missus' father was test driving the car. With the engine on the revs start at 4000rpm on idle, yet it doesn't seem like the engine is revving much just purring away like a large vacuum cleaner. I wonder if the gauge is faulty. I have read other posts on high idle but people have it at like 1200RPM and want it to go below 1000 - problems with throttle body paper seals, AFMs, hose leaks etc. Any help appreciated guys I have finally joined the club Cheers, fib.
