EVO Cam

I have just smashed 3rd gear in my box..... So much for the notion that GTR boxes are bulletproof.... Oh well, looks like I'll be throwing even more $$$'s at my car.... Cam

I have just lunched 3rd gear in my box in my R33 GTR.... From what I've read & heard I was under the impression that GTR boxes were quite strong & could handle a fair amoutn of power & "some" abuse... I "only" have 225rwkw and do not flog my car, quite the contrary, the only place it cops it is the quarter mile (been there twice & done about 8 runs), however I obviously don't know about previous owners... I would like to know whether there are any other GTR owners with similar experiences & also what sort of power they had when their boxes let go... Also would it be cheaper for me to simply replace 3rd gear (as the others work) or simply replace the entire box?? If I replace should I look for a series 3 R33 or R34 box or just replace what I have now & hope it doesn't happen again... Cheers Cam

Nah mate, Stafford Tune did mine, their at 30 Stone St Stafford They double as Motec Qld & they are contracted by most of the Qld based V8 teams, so they know what there doing, well pretty much anyway (my cars performance last night I mean)... hahaha Cheers Cam

I only ended up having 4 runs as it was my first time out with the Motec installed and it badly needed re-tuning as I couldn't push it past 6000 - 6500 rpm which really affected my times.... My best was my first run: 60ft : 1.916 E.T. : 13.409 MPH : 101.60 Now for a decent tune..... Cam

OK well I have spent a truck load since I bought my GTR last October & all those that know me will vouch that I've driven it about a dozen times since.... Here's a list of mods/repairs: Motec M800 ECU Motec Boost Controller 2 reconditioned High Flowed R33 GTR Turbo's (blew them both) Replaced all the oil feed lines & tubes Installed new oil filter housing gasket (none there!!!!) & inlet manifold gaskets Replaced all plugs/leads Reground cams Replaced timing belt New tyres Adapters (spacers) Clarion Headunit & Pioneer Speakers New exhaust, one with a cat converter.... and on & on she goes...... Sounds like you have a problem similar to mine, although mine wasn't missing as such... Maybe yours just isn't hooked up properly either? Who did your installation, or was it a DIY jobbie? Cam
