I dont know what you were expecting.... a whole bunch of guys with no cash, and no plans to buy your car saying that its cheap at the price you had it for means nothing.... if it was that cheap and they thought you would get the cash you wanted someone could have made a few thousand dollars off you quite easily...... but they didnt For the price you were asking you could pick a cheap R32 GTR, and for a few thousand dollars more a buyer could pick up an R33 GTR. What do these have to do with the price of your car your probably asking..... people would rather be seen in a GTR than a GTT and would look at a GTR before they look at your GTT. Its also been said before but 1) the market is flooded with Skylines, so much so they are more common than the Gemini was many years ago and most Skylines are very similar in spec which means there are plenty of others out there to choose from. 2) P platers cant drive them, so there goes a big chunk of your market. 3) defects, imports are a cop magnet and people are aware of just how hard it is to clear a defect. A lot of people know someone who has a horror story and it turns people off the car. Try finding a stock exhaust for your car in a hurry to clear a defect. Nobody will lend it to you, let alone sell you one, because they are worth their weight in gold. And once defected you are pretty much stuck with needing a stock exhaust as being caught twice for noise isnt just a fine anymore..... I honestly pity anyone that needs to sell a Skyline these days. About 4 years ago I had a customer who had the neatest R33 series 2 i had ever laid eyes on, and given i worked for Advan i had seen LOTS of them. This car was spotless. Inside and out, from top to bottom, i could not fault this car. He had done every major service item as soon as he bought it and had our log books and receipts to show it. It was pretty much stock apart from a Trust Airinx filter and PE II cat back that we had fitted. He couldnt sell it. He wanted $20k to start with and ended up parting with it for $14k. And even then it took him a good 6 months to sell it They arent worth what people want for them. They are worth what someone is willing to pay, and today that aint jack all. I say you were lucky to get $10k for it.

You need to enter before Sunday as WSID require all names and money paid a week prior to the event

Gtx3076R Vrs Gt3076R.. A True Comparison.
ido09s replied to Simon-S14's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
You cant really compare them without having the tune finished.... Looking at that graph the way it is i would be pretty disapointed that it fell over like it has, but its not tuned so to say that isnt very fair -
You named almost every bit of the bike just then lol I have spoken to Paul Rowney over email today and it will be cheaper to just buy a complete bike i think. I would love to run XX on an SB66 but its just over kill for a bike that will be ridden and thrashed regularly, but Paul will be doing an X0 build kit so if i buy one i will just go with that.

How Do The Big Hp Cars Get Away Without Being Defected?
ido09s replied to Rolls's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
And thats why its bullshit. One law for them and one for the rest of us. Try using that defense in court and see what the judge tells you..... as you have said, half the time they cant even tell the difference between a pod filter and a catch can so how can they legally defect a car? If they got it right every time i wouldnt care, but half of them wouldnt know Arhtur from Marthur!!! Whats this IM240 test? and does it cover an after market ECU? -

Sadly NSW has engineers reports but it still doesnt stop the Police defecting you. All it does is make life easier removing the defect. It shouldnt be that way. If the Police are given the ability to hand out defects they should have a very sound knowledge of what is and isnt legal. I find it pretty stupid to let them defect cars when they dont know what they are defecting lol If i go into court and try and defend something the judge will ask me if i am qualified and have enough knowledge to be commenting.... fi i dont i will get shot down in flames and made a fool of, so why shouldnt this be the same with the Police and defects. Minus the shooting down in flames and making a fool of as that gets you nowere fast -
If he is smart enough to want to sue for damages he should have been smart enough to question the cost of the bill back at the 120,000k mark. Or did he think they forgot to charge him for it and didnt want to say anything? Once they are out of warranty the service centre does what you ask them to do, not what the warranty book says they should be doing.

Definitely. Any change in the car may change the tune so change it now to save some cash later

Anything is possible, you just need to be smart about it. Plumb everything back in and get it all engineered. Its not going to stop the defect but it does make life easy when you come to clear one. If you have an exhaust that has a silencer, use it. Exhaust noise is their first alarm bell and if they dont hear you they dont normally look for you. The other thing is to get a decent engineers certificate as most of them arent worth the paper they are written on. Use someone that is going to make you do the drive by noise tests (this should be done for an after market air box) and get an EPA report to go with the engineers. Keep your driving record clean as they will also run the plates and the registered owners licence number before they pull you over and if you have a record thats extensive they will normally treat you differently. We make about 750hp but the car very rarely see the light of day. About the only thing that would be an issue for us would be the ECU but thats not that hard to work around. It makes it a little easier when you have a non standard engine in the car as a lot of the factory components are simply to hard to fit in -
Get rid of the cat. How many people here that run this turbo are actually using a cat? or can say they have seen this turbo on a car with a cat? and are making a fair comparison on the response side of things. No cat will make a big difference

At 14.5 kilos mines a little heavy, but its lots of fun. I need to do some research on what i can swap over from the Remedy to a Yeti SB66. The Sb66 is a very nice looking bit of gear and apparently a very nice bike to ride. Setup with a 150mm fork i think it would be a great all rounder

Wrecking R32 Gtr... Leftover Parts
ido09s replied to WHITE R32's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
do you still have both rear drive shafts? Any idea of what you want for them posted to Sydney? -
Trek are really nice bikes. I have riden Giants and am now riding a Trek Remedy 9. I love it. The only thing i would sell it for would be a custom build SB66

You sound like Mr Harvey lol I know what your saying about shop fronts needing to make some money, but when i can go interstate and buy my bike, plus get a weekend away for the price the Sydney store is selling it, then there is something wrong. I was looking at an XTC 29er at one stage..... $1600 in VIC, closest i could get in Sydney was $2100. I was happy to pay $2100 but a weekend away in Melbourne, plus the bike was very appealing Do a comparison on bike shops from different states and you will be quite surprised at the differences. Several bike shops in Sydney wanted to charge me $4400 for a full XX setup, i got it from a QLD bike store through bike exchange for $2200 shipped. I have been in retail and i have seen the effects of the internet when someone wont open their eyes and move with the times. I have also seen the effect of the internet when someone does and there is no reason a savvy business person could not compete with these online stores. its just unfortunate that a lot of retail businesses are stuck in a rutt and cant take a chance with off loading some stuff cheap to make a name. People need to rely on large profit margins to stay alive these days, whereas you will find a lot of these online stores sell in bulk for a small profit. Sure they dont have that many over heads, but if your selling in massive ammounts you are going to make massive dollars if your smart

I always have my gopro hanging from the sunroof inside the car and they havent pulled me up on it so far. I would like to try it outside the car this time so lets see what they say. Cars use them on the outside all the time so i doubt they will have any problems with it. The new management seems to be a bit more laid back than the old management which is good to see as they were pretty hard assed on trivial things previously
-
Its in the right hands so all will be good. What has your car run now? is mid 11's@??? the last time i saw?
-
Awesome about Aaron being there Aaron is pretty fair with running the joint from an ANDRA perspective I am with you on the track conditions..... have they had a street meet yet to get some rubber down? We might be the first to christen the new surface, which i wont be happy about to be honest The new management is doing an awesome job with the place though. Its come ahead in leaps and bounds since the departure of Jim Read

I wouldnt be to worried about it. Normally at these events you self scrutineer your car anyway. I would just throw a blue triangle on the car just so they know where the islation switch is. I have run an 11.0 and i am meant to have a lot more safety gear in the car than i do have and they have never said anything to me about it. I would be more concerned about an ANDRA licence than the isolation switch. You do have an ANDRA licence dont you? They can probably be purchased on the day but its quite a bit more expensive doing it that way. If you plan on continuing to race the car it would be much cheaper to buy a yearly licence Oh sweet. Will be good to catch up mate and have that long awaited race How did your car go on E85? Did you make much more power? Ours went backwards according to the rollers hehe Given the event is only a week away and there is only around 30 competitors.... is it going to go ahead or not? Unless the club makes up for the shortfall in costs i thought that WSID had a minimum of 40 cars, max of 50, for these private hires.

S14 Interior Parts, Bride Seat, Playstation
ido09s replied to want_33's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
A quick pic would be good and pick up WTAC could be organised no problems for items this size. Would really like to know if the lights work on the air con unit though as the one i have is fine looks wise, just that lights work when they feel like it lol -

Trent - There is a huge difference in a dyno that is setup right versus a dyno that is just set up. It also means a huge difference between brands of dyno as well. We used a DD where i worked and it was pretty decent. But, i no longer work there and another shop looks after our tuning duties now and their operator knows a lot more about the setup and back end so they can work with theirs a lot more effectively. Its all knowledge as Tyson is going to find out with his car it would seem. It sounds to me that AVO just arent up to speed with what needs to be done. Thats not to knock them, some workshops just arent that way inclined with certain cars, nor are they prepared to take the time to carry out the R&D, but i guess you need to give them a chance before you go elsewhere. I know the feeling though as i toiled with a high RPM miss fire for quite a while. After re wiring a few things and purchasing a brand new CAS the problem still wasnt fixed. Unigroup tried tuning the car but straight away said it has the dredded incorrect RPM signal being sent to the ECU at around 8000+rpm. The new Harmonic balancer with triggers that Ross Balancers now market was designed on our car. It works a treat and it sorted it all out instantly. It now revs to 9000+rpm very cleanly. Pretty disppointed thats all it was but I just didnt know how to fix it Not everyone knows everything....
-
My point exactly. Way to many variables that could affect the power output. I dont know why AVO ran it in 3rd gear as it should have been run in fourth but that normally wont make much difference to the kw reading. Send it down the drag strip now and see what mph you can run with it then get it retuned/sorted out and re run it again. Thats the best comparison. Our car use to make 460rwkw but only managed to run 128mph on one or two occasions, mid to low 120's were pretty normal for it.... now it makes about 40rwkw less but runs into the mid 130's on a regular basis. Dyno's figures and peak power dont mean shit really
-
So it was run up on Trents dyno and then Trent made 20 more? or is this 20 more between the 2 dynos? If in the short time Trent had it he was able to make 20 more kw then its certainly got some left in it Not bagging out Trent but dynos are tuning tools and should not be used for comparisons.

So is this Trent a member on here? has it got more in it?
