Thanks wolverine at this stage I'm not chasing big power I more so just want to get the car running a bit more efficiently and if Charlie says it was better with old turbo then that sounds like the go, I will do a bit of reading up before I go ahead with it but yeah im only a student and part time waiter so I don't have alot of money to throw around so the extra couple of hundred for the GCG might be a bit too much but thanks again for all the input
-
Thanks wolverine what I'm looking at is a high flow rebuild of the stock turbo with all garret internals and upgraded oil lines for 1350 which sounds good to me
-
Thanks charlie, Im defiantely going to get the turbo rebuilt just gonna ask a few places to find the best option, went out to precision yesterday but got there a bit late and they were closed unfortunately. And yes I love the car, turbo and fuel issues aside its great to drive and handles so much better then you would expect for such a large car, I suspect thats due to the tein suspension, but yeah its been a great car no plans to get rid of it any time soon. Cheers mate

I developed a sort of rattling noise when turning corners under full lock and it turned out to be my front CV shafts, this could be a possibility?
-
hey Charlie thanks for the input, guess first order of business is high flowing the original turbo then, was going to do that first thing when i got it but ended up fixing the sound system first as it was completed rooted. And so does that mean the blown one you gave me is the orginal stock turbo? or was it an aftermarket one to begin with? Also dont know if it ever did it with you but sometimes when driving up steep hills the boost controller seems to cut out and boost reverts to 7 psi and wont go past that level until the car is turned off and on again? any ideas why it does this? Oh and cheers for sending the roof rack clip much appreciated. And Tangles thanks for all the info mate

Yes wolverine he definately put some sort of boost control in, cant say wether its a bleed valve or not I dont really know, it looks like a red cylinder with a dial on the top to adjust boost level. And the quote i got was from unigroup engineering, my mechanic recommended them as being the best from the quote the 1300 bucks included: Supply of board, fitting and testing (We have popular exchange ECUs already fitted and ready to go.) -Setup of CAS, TPS, IAC & VCT (where applicable) -Vacuum leak check -Maf service -Allowance for labour for minor trouble shooting and small repairs -Tuning to high standards that Unigroup is renowned for -12 months warranty on the board and ecu and 12 months aftercare After your opinions I think I will just go with the nisstune and save a bit more cash up cheers guys

Yes its got a HKS exhaust system in it with a high flow cat, and an apexi power intake pod filter, im not sure what turbo is in it, its not the stock one, previous owner replaced it and he said he thought it was from a r33 skyline, u guys may know better then me previous owner was a member of the forums charlie stokes if u remember him he may have mentioned it
-
Thanks guys, and yes scotty that was including dyno time, from what i have read on here and what my mechanic said part of my economy problem is that raising the stock boost without upgrading the stock ecu causes the engine to run super rich all the time, which means i get the dirty bumper and backfire at high rev gear changes aswell as lousy economy, so nisstune will allow me to run leaner and therefore save fuel, and yes i changed my O2 sensor when i first got it, I know its never going to be an economical car but id like to get to where other users have said they can get and get like 450 kms a tank atleast
-
I looked into nisstune aswell, 1300 bucks is a bit out of my current budget, heard of anyone in the sydney area who does it cheaper? Ideally id like to spend like 600-800 bucks and get an extra 100 kms a tank ie 450-500

Hey guys Im looking into getting either an Apexi SAFC neo or a Greddy emanage blue. My primary goal is lowering fuel consumption, but it would be good to have a unit that would be versatile for producing more power later on with more mods. Currently only engine mods are: Full HKS exhaust with high flow cat Boost controller running 11 Psi Plans for an FMIC in the next couple of months To my some what limited understanding the apexi unit only controls fuel settings where as the emanage also controls other settings such as ignition timing and boost. So my question is which unit have you guys used and which do you think is the better option with my setup? Is either better at controlling fuel consumption then the other? Any input is appreciated cheers guys

New S2 Owner - Questions Regaring Interior
Chris_Beli replied to comieodor's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Bentwagon I dont think so, I looked into trying to get mine around there, not much room at all depending on the size of the amp, also you dont want an amp under a piece of interior like that they put out alot of heat, best place imo is under the driver side seat, the floor is completely flat on that side whereas there is a bump under the passneger chair so not as much room, also if u want advice on where to feed ur power line through when u get too it hit me up i did all mine myself and found an awsome completely concealed place to go through. -
New S2 Owner - Questions Regaring Interior

Hi mate The dial on the left adjusts the angle of your headlights up or down, as for the switch on the right i think i remember reading that it turns on the window/mirror heaters? Dont know for sure though. As for the fuel economy there are a heap of threads on here about that see if you can find them with search, but 350kms seems pretty normal from what other users have posted for stock cars, you can try getting your O2 sensor checked to make sure it is working correctly when I first got mine I was getting very bad economy and an intermittent warning light on the dash caused by a shagged O2 sensor -
S2 Rear Speaker Drop In Replacement
Chris_Beli replied to webng's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I changed all four speakers about a month ago, I used pioneer speakers, not sure on model number, they were 6 inch but as others have warned the magnet depth was to big for the standard bracket, to make them fit i ground out the plastic bracket with a grinder attachment for a power drill to allow them to fit, pretty sure i had to drill new screw holes aswell as the originals didnt line up. Also keep in mind depending on what sort of head unit u have, upgrading ur speakers may cause a loss in sound performance if ur setup isnt the right power to run them. The stock speakers are max output of either 25 or 50 watts, i changed to 220 watts and didnt get particularly good sound until i changed the headunit aswell. I would also recomend changing all 4 speakers as the ones in the back are less important to u the driver then the ones in the front, u can use the standard brackers in the front buy using a hack saw to cut out the stock speaker cone and screwing the new speaker onto the standard bracket, the excess depth wasnt a problem for me still plenty of window clearance in the door and all in all a pretty easy job. I got everything i used from jbhifi, speakers were around 120 bucks each from memory, headunit was like 400 with aux and usb in and bluetooth handsfree phone, very convenient. -
Yeah its definately air bags, there was a safety pack as an optional extra im pretty sure, but yeah there is a plastic panel on the shoulder of the seat that says srs air bag on it
-
Hey guys, might have to pull out my passenger seat for a sound system install, my question is though, are there any tricks with disconnecting the curtain air bag in the seat? Is it as simple as just unplugging a cable, does disconnecting your battery prevent accidental deployment? Really want to avoid any mishaps with it. This is for series 2 c34 Chris
-
Pipster are you talking about the yellow fogs in in the front bar with your indicators? I would like to do this and make them white if they are the ones you guys are referring too the yellow some how makes the car look more dated to me
-
Yeah I have those plus the ones in the front bar, ones front bar are yellow, bottom ones white
-
Spotted a black series 2 c34 on president avenue kirrawee at like 5:30pm, think ive seen the same one a few times, one of about 3 in my area
-
Dont know if this is relevant, but my c34 does that on occasion, boost it normally runs is 11psi but sometimes it wont go past 7, turn it off wait a few minutes and its back to normal, I believe in an older thread you guys said this was something to do with the fact that stags run 7psi out of the factory and a computer hicup can cause it to limit itself to factory boost temporarily or something along those lines? So if your running an aftermarket boost controller that may be why.
-
$407 to the RTA, $678 for ctp with GIO, ouch
-
I got told a stock s2 was worth about 17k when i took out my insurance about 3 months ago, however like you guys are saying there are heaps of stags on the market atm and no one is buying them, the one i bought started out at 16500 and ended up going down to 13500 before i bought it, regardless of all the mods I would agree with mike that you would probably only get like 15k max
-
Spotted a green series 1 outside eastgardens chopping centre on monday and a red series 2 near bondi today, green s1 may have been a lady driver? Also a couple of weeks back spotted another green s1 in the cronulla mall car park, really nice rims on it

Interesting Stagea Parts On Yaj
Chris_Beli replied to SABBAi's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Mine came with all those pretend carbon bits, aswell as all the exterior ones, i reckon they are pretty sweet coupled with a matching momo wheel, also plan to get a real carbon fibre bonnet one day that would be awsome. Guy i bought it off said he shelled out 800 on that site for a set of the carbon wheel arches because he lost one haha oh and those led headlights look awsome ^ -
Hey Race how much did it cost to get that auto kit installed if u dont mind my asking? And I think it was a forester GT u are thinking of not a liberty from memory
-
Just thought i would add, a big bit of the appeal of stageas to me was that they are different, you dont see them everyday and most people dont know what they are, mine attracts a fair bit of attention if thats your thing. Also on the speed front mine has full HKS cat back exhaust and is running 11psi boost which gets it to 100 in about 7-8 seconds, so not super fast but not slow either, once it gets going it will get to the 180 limiter suprisingly fast. On the fuel front mine is pretty bad, usually only about 400km a tank around town. Oh and alot of people are mentioning nagoya motors, i looked there and was put off, wont go into detail as we arent supposed to, and yeah they sell standard stags for about 15k if they are auto, or like 16-17 for a manual. I got mine with the mods i mentioned aswell as tein super wagon suspension and full carbon fibre dayz kit privately for only 13,500, so i would go private sale. Hope that helps
