  1. Okay all Just looked at the settings (HKS call DUTY = CORRECTION, and call GAIN= OFFSET (From my brand translation skills hahah)) Basically the target boost for setting A is set to 65kpa, CORRECTION 100 and OFFSET 100 (100 is the default, range is from 1% to 199%) Basically the target boost for setting B is set to 75kpa, CORRECTION 100 and OFFSET 100 (100 is the default, range is from 1% to 199%) MAP correction mode (RPM and throttle position is connected but not being used because the correction is all set to 0kpa or 100%, again the default for this feature) So say at 3000 rpm, at 50% throttle, the CORRECTION boost is 0kpa, the OFFSET is 100 default. This is the same for all other points. This leads me to think the EVC has terrific tuning ability, but just wasnt utilised. What does everyone think?
  2. Argh dammit! can anyone help tune it for me? Its annoying not being able to make the most of the product!
  3. Hi all This is following on from a post I made here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=184222 Car is a R34 GTT with the following power mods - split dump, hiflow cat, and fujitsubo catback, apexi pod, stock SMIC The EVC was tuned very nicely on the dyno and so I thought I was all set. 9.5psi on the low setting 11psi on the high setting. I dont want to go any higher. Problem is I am getting a peak reading of about 11.7psi on very cold nights when I floor 1st or 2nd gear. (on LOW setting) In 3rd gear, Ill get about 10.9psi max. I didnt try 4th gear on the street. Has anyone who has mildly modded their R34 experienced similar issues with boost peaking a bit higher than what was set? And do you find ha the boost tapers off because of perhaps a spark, fuel, intercooler, or stock ECU issue when running 11psi? See attached dyno sheet (red line is low setting, blue line is high setting) Thanks all
  4. Yea still got the stock SMIC on. After approx 30 dyno runs (some cooling down in between though) I can see why a FMIC is needed That doesnt explain why the boost at 0.75 bar isnt holding though.
  5. The controller and solenoid is brand new so I dont know whether there is anything to clean. Is the power drop some spark issue? or the stock ECU dropping back for safety reasons? It holds straight fine on 0.65bar on the dyno, but dont know why the tuner couldnt get the tail end of 0.75 bar to hold flat, perhaps the turbo is struggling to hold the boost? I dont know and am quite puzzled by it.
  6. Does anyone find the setup and results strange?
  7. Does anyone else get similar behaviour?
  8. Hi all I had the new HKS EVC 5 installed a couple of days ago. Car is a R34 GTT with the following power mods - split dump, hiflow cat, and fujitsubo catback, apexi pod The EVC was tuned very nicely on the dyno and so I thought I was all set. 9.5psi on the low setting 11psi on the high setting. I dont want to go any higher. Problem is I am getting a peak reading of about 11.7psi on very cold nights when I floor 1st or 2nd gear. In 3rd gear, Ill get about 10.9psi max. I didnt try 4th gear on the street. Strange this is I watched the ebc tune on the dyno, and at the low setting of 9.5psi, it held it fine and completely flat all the way when the tuner did many repeat runs in 4th gear. Ambient temps were about 18degrees and the tuner looked like he did a terrific job. I havent bothered to try flooring it on the high setting on cold nights yet in case I blow something up. Any ideas why it would be doing this? It's spiking by the looks of things on cold nights in low gears, I thought EBCs, especially the new HKS one would be fine and would correct boost for things such as differing air temperatures. AND ANOTHER QUESTION When the tuner set it up for 11psi, the dyno run shows that the boost will hit this amount, but then it tapers off at the tail end of the boost line in the dyno sheet. There is also a big dip in the power curve, my guess, fuel cut by the stock ECU. Why is there a poewr curve dip and why would the boost (blue line) taper off like that? Stock turbo just cant keep it up? Tuner struggled to keep that tail end up. See attached dyno sheet (red line is low setting, blue line is high setting) Thanks all
  9. Whats the difference between teh GP days and the South Circuit days/ Just a smaller circuit on the South Circuit days?
  10. Wha are the results of these like?
  11. Hi all Just wanted to vent out at a particular car parts and accessories retailer out in South West Sydney. I would never normally go to them, but my gf went to them 3 years ago to get her windows tinted. We made the unfortunate mistake of going there because it was just for window tinting and not much could possibly go wrong. Well I was wrong. To cut a long story short, basically they are not upholding warranty for tints that have severely faded, and have bubbled in certain areas. Even though we had a receipt and it was clearly stated that there was 10 years warranty. Funny thing is, we had the car booked in with them to get the tints redone after several visits and phone conversations. So I woke up early, brought the car to them, and the boss storms out, already angry for some odd reason (probably because he has to work for free fixing the tints), and refuses to work on the car. The boss drives the car out of the workshop, nearly running me over and and hides away at the back of the workshop refusing to even deal with it in a civilised manner. Who else has been stung by something like this? and why are people allowed to get away with it? Its ridiculous! If anyone is ever scared of being stung by these guys, then shoot me a PM. You'll probably already guess who it is haha Note: this has been my true personal experience, I cant say your experience will be the same so don't take my word for it, but I urge you to do your research to save you from headaches in the future
  12. Cool stock cooler is fine, now should I run 8spi or will it be okay to run 11psi? mixed arguments on this thread but Im leaning towards 8psi, who really needs the extra power haha
  13. Okay so - check brakes and fluids, bring spare - run 11psi on a standard R34 turbo is okay (are you sure? too manyt reports of failed turbos scare me) - keep oil temps under 120, and make sure water temps dont get crazy
  14. Hi all I am thinking of throwing my R34 GTT on the track for the very first time! haha Current mods are: - full exhaust, - air filter, - HKS boost controller (2 settings, 8 and 11), - heap of suspension changes - coilovers, sway bars, bushes - formula ferodo pads up front, bendix advance in the rear, decent tyres I am not going to go at it hard seeing as it is my first, but I was wondering whether if pushed, will my car blow up because: - i dont have a FMIC - i dont have an oil cooler - actually i dont have any cooling mods haha After watching the HPI video where the guys blew the turbo on the R34 GTT at the track I am a little hesitant. So here are the questions: 1) is it unsafe to run my car at a track with the current mods? 2) how many laps should I do before i need a cool down lap, assuming i give it a hard time alternatively, at what oil temp should i start taking it easy? 3) what boost level should i have it set at to run all day every day at the track 4) any other ideas or suggestions you have would be real helpful! Thanks all!
  15. I dont think a R33 snorkel will well as thats more for sucking air from the outside in, as opposed to ramming air from the outside in, hence you'd need to build some sort of sealed box around your pods and then have the snorkel running to the front just under the bonnet. Could try a funnel and pipe from the front bar, through the left hand guard and to the pods. (i have something for sale in my signature, sorry shameful plug here hahaha) Alternatively, have a vent in your bonnet installed above the filters? looks kinda crapping though. Or have a vent on the bonnet closer to the back of the engine bay on the passenger side, R34 GTR VSpec style to draw away hot air?
  16. Any skylineers up for it? i was thinking of going by
  17. Hi all, just wanted to get some first hand experiences from people How did the brakes feel once the braided lines were fitted? Did you have any braking issues before the install? and after fitting it has it changed it in any way? Is there a benefit for day to day, stop and start traffic type driving? Thanks
