Hmmmm...i saw one of the 4 door R31 Skylines the other day in Queenbeyan with a big wing/exhaust and a GT-R badge on the back. not my cup of tea, but hey, if it floats your boat then why not. -
R33 GT-R Hatch? WTF? *pic*
r33skylinegtst replied to d0p3y's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
There are some dodgy looking 'conversions' around too. I was flicking through a Hot4's mag at the newagent (yeah, i know, they suck. but i had 2 hours off and i got bored ) anyways, theres some guy with a civic hatch with R32 taillights. YUCK! -
First car.. R33 or R32 ?
r33skylinegtst replied to max.89's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
this is an enthusiast forum, not a BS contest. if you can get the money for a line, cool. if you cant, dont pretend that you have $10billion dollars when you dont. -
Thanks Guilty, knew someone would see eye to eye with me on this. You said pretty much everything i wanted to and a heap more!

Like my dad says, your car will be your second most expensive inlay in your whole life, next to a house. So you have to respect it.
-
And one more thing, i'm not getting a Skyline to 'pull chicks,' im getting a Skyline cause i think they are an AWESOME car all round.

No, sorry, you misread that. Two CASUAL jobs, which don't equate to huge hours. I'm only doing them to save the money for the car (Insurance + a fair bit extra). I get the car near end of year so i want as much money as i can earn (by working two jobs) between now and then. When i finish year 12 i will move onto a full time job and then i won't need to work the two casual jobs, cause i'll be working full time and not earning a piddly $9.2 an hour...

Why does everyone assume that because your parents buy you a car that you are either rich of likely to crash it? My parents are taking out a loan or redrawing on something else so they can buy me an R33, and true, i wont pay for the car myself, but that doesn't mean i will take it for granted and wrap it around a tree the first week of ownership. I still have to pay rego, insurance (full comprehensive=$4k a year, NOT CHEAP) and repairs. And when you work for peanuts thats a lot of saving. I'm going to pick up a second casual job just to save money for the insurance, and juggling school in with that (im at college in the ACT, year 12) isn't particularly easy either. Believe me, when i get this car im going to WORSHIP it, not take it for granted because im some 'rich kid.' Don't stereotype everyone cause often you'll find its just pure ignorance.

We had our crummy Barina parked on the street and some little ****s came up to it during the night and egged it. It was a crappy car, but i had to clean it so i was peeved all the same.

i agree. were it not for the 32 lights that car would look pretty sweet for an old prelude. -
Hot 4's Poster Book No13
r33skylinegtst replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in General Automotive Discussion
dont worry, i dont read it religiously. I don't read the mag at all, i got the poster book cause of a nice 34 in one mag, then the 33 in the last one. My walls needed some nice pics -
Hot 4's Poster Book No13
r33skylinegtst replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Nah, a lot of the cars are still ugly and distasteful, but the Skylines are usually pretty nice. The one in issue 13 is white, black mags (no chrome, thankyou!!!), dark tinted windows and a body kit. No enourmous wings or any other stuff. -
Hot 4's Poster Book No13
r33skylinegtst replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Well, they call themselves Hot4's and performance cars, and in the same issue there's a nice R33 GTR Skyline in there... -
Hi ppl, just got the latest hot 4's poster book (issue 13) and was very confused by a blue car pictured in it. I haven't got any pics, but it's the same sort of shape as the 32, EXACT SAME taillights, but a Honda badge... huh!? Looking at it more closely it doesnt have the same sort of lines as the 32 (forgive me, my knowledge of the 32 isnt great) so does anyone know what it is? it kinda looks like an old Prelude...?

Questions about buying a 33 GTS-t
r33skylinegtst replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yeah...had a talk to my parents about it... private sale seems the go, but i was told by Brian Hall that you have to watch the plates of an import? I don't have much knowledge about this, but it was something about having the rego changed over for an import car outside the state you live in...is this a problem? As in changing VIC rego to ACT? How much does this cost? anyone know? or am i just talking crap? -
Yeah, JimX has a point. Word of mouth can be a killer you know...

Questions about buying a 33 GTS-t
r33skylinegtst replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I've already checked out the thread. Must say i prefer the looks of the series 2...*drools* but with an aftermarket bodykit even the series 1 models can look damn fine. One of the members here has offered to sell his car to me for $20k, 1995 GTS-t, $2k stereo, and some nice extra goodies...will definately consider it but it's really gonna be a matter of timing, cause i'm not in a position to buy now. First we have to get that damn Barina sold and get rid of some shares we have... -
Argh... My eyes! My eyes!

I don't think that restricting the types of cars young people drive will make a huge difference. Not only are there a lot of people who aren't on their P's who drive like idiots, but also you can speed in just about any car. Sure, a GT-R will go faster, but as i said before, he was doing 70 (or impacted at). Even your average Holden Barina can do that speed. and 110km/h can be achieved by most cars too... What im saying is that if people want to drive like idiots, they will regardless of the car they are in. -
LOL, yeah, i reckon that guy would attract a lot of attention, and not the kind you want. More like people pointing and laughing. Still, as Jay said, a lot of skill, time and money went into that thing... does anyone know if he did anything to the engine or anything, or is it all just looks?

I think it's a wake-up call for everyone. You have to overlook the fact it was a GT-R and focus on the fact that it was only doing about 70km/h. That can be done in just about any car, regardless of whether it's high performance or not. Would the responce have been the same if he was driving a GTS...?
