Took my car in to get the diff tightened, came out with him saying that driveshafts have play in them, so I replaced them today. and my car is still clunking and jerkying around corners on light acceleration.. Now there is for sure some play in the diff when I turn the wheel with the car jacked up the car clunks and I can see there is play within the diff but the guy told me thats just how it is and hes check everything. What can I hit this guy up with when I take it back to him next week. can it be the shims????

Yeah search is your friend also check NS.com. it depends on your budget you can also redrill the rotors to fit, this way you dont need hubs and also dont need to upgrade your rims??

Cheers for the input guys, apreciate it. Its really been a great car considering I drive it almost everyday, been reliable and a treat to own. only been "regular" things go on it such as clutch and wheel bearings etc but thats all just general maintenance. I will keep you up to date with whats happening and it prob wont be for a at least a weeks before anything substancial happens.

I hear what you are saying sydkid, the locking of the diff action was never a prob (its a mechanical anyway) I am getting clunking in the rear of the car on turning, in which I thought it was the diff but its not comming from the diff its something else. The mechanic knows this, he knows its locking fine in a straight line and on turning, as I said you can do this in first gear turning around a corner. You dont need to rip the shit out of it to acheive the results which are not applicable to my problem. I am a firm beleiver of treating whats not yours with respect.

just quickly, you can putt the thing around in first gear and still get the same prob (dont need to strap it). My prob is miss treatment of my car, Thats not how I treat it on public roads in a bussy area. If your going to charge me a professional rate then act as your charge.

I dropped my car off to get fixed with differential problems, dude rings me today saying opend up the diff and its not the problem I have been looking for. About 1/2 hour later mate who works in the area told me he just saw my car sideways and having the shit strapped out of it. if I am paying the dude $440 to fix it (but hasnt fixed the prob) what should I do.

Thay had a quick segment on drifting (crappy QLD head of police was on) basically saying she was concerned about the movie tokyo drift (no she had not seen it). What a crock anyway, they showed a fair bit of drifting including a quick segment providing a few A31 sliding which was cool. Anyway was good to see, but pissed about the tone of the segment.

Yeah my friend got well electricuted when we started the car with the spark plug out, kicked it over anyway. we checked the pulse of injector with the old listening to the screwdriver on the top and it was ticking fine. So I guess its just down to checking compression and going from there. Cheers everyone

Hey guys just trying to work out whats wrong with a mates RB20. We cant get cylinder 6 (closest to the driver???) to fire. swapped plugs, coil packs. Its not fireing as it makes no difference to the engine rpm and sound if its plugged in or not so its def dropped that las one. The only thing left to do is swap a PTU but mine isnt interchangeable with his. Is there anything else left to check for????? Would a compression test reveal anything, but surely even if its compression is stuffed then it could be down on power but still fire???
