  1. Friend has recently had his Silver R33 GTR (S1) snatched from virtually under his nose. Witnesses say they saw a convoy leave the area with the GTR followed by a small white hatch, and then a red Supra. I remember reading this thread and people noting a few leads, want to do something to help him out as I was involved when he brought it to Aust and it was immaculate. If anyone knows anything 'bout a '95 Silver R33GTR, abso stock, around 20 - 30 k on the clock and a V spec. Front bar has been sprayed as faded lightly, otherwise pristine. We're gonna get them.
  2. That's it! Thanks Sniff.
  3. Can someone please help me out with contacting one of the members whom I don't seem to be able to find. I was positive his user was GTR88, but I can't find his reg in the members list and I need to get into contact with him urgently. He posted a thread not long ago regarding some vandalism to his GTR and received some good response from others who may have leads on the culprit. If anyone knows who this is or his correct user name, could you please let me know however possible. Thanks.
  4. Just wanted to confirm, the spring and strut is not off a V Spec?
  5. Yeh, I had a similar thing when a tiny vaccum hose come off the fuel rail or somewhere around there. Idle went up, car hesitated, and the on, off throttle was terrible banging the slack in the transmission. Pulled the AFM out and cleaned it, pulled the plugs, all good, checked the Throttle Posi Switch, I was stumped and frustrated. Then whilst looking over the bay, noticed the little hose not quite sitting securely on the little pipe off the fuel rail, put it back and car was perfect again. BTW, anyone know what the little canister normally mounted on the RH strut tower is for (the one with the boost restrictor) my car doesn't have one at all, must be bypassed.
  6. Don't know if this helps, but I used to have a Nissan Bluebird with a Z18 Turbo and Autronic Management. Tuning was performed with a laptop and on this you could see what all the sensors were reading as well as seeing what the computer was reading for throttle position from the TPS. It would use throttle position to assess load and then the fuel and timing map was made up by plotting load against rpm. In other words, if your Throttle Position Switch is not reading 0 where your butterfly is closed or at idle pos, your mixtures and timing are quite likely wrong for that condition, then when you open halp throttle, your TPS tells the comp you're 3/4 throttle and again your mixtures are sell out. This is what causes your missing and erratic leading and trailing throttle. I used to stick the PC onto the Auronic once a month to recalibrate the TPS, never knew why it kept going out but it did. Hope that helps.
  7. Sorry, forgot to mention 65,000k
  8. Well the time has come and I'm going to move the R33. Here's the spec. Dual bag Six speaker Apex fully adjustable coil overs Apexi Pods Twin Apexi BOVs Stainless Cat Back Exhaust (HKS maybe) Cusco Oil Catch Forged Pistons Steel Braided brake lines HD Clutch Check Photos, disregard the alien in the passenger seat. $49,000 ONO
  9. Not concerned 'bout the k's, but the 95 looks very original and untouched as opposed to my 96 which has had everything removed at one time or another. Thought most would prefer a stock SI Vspec over a modded SII Non Vspec. Thanks for the opinions guys.
  10. Yeah agreed, mine has a HD clutch and I sit in peak hour traffic on the odd occassion and it's still wonderfull to be behind the wheel, even when I'm going nowhere. They're not hard to drive at all. Reliability isn't an issue as I've spent nothing on it but oil and pads for the last year and a half. I think I'll offer a straight swap and if they go for it I'll do it, and if not, then I still have a hard GTR. Can't really go too wrong eh.? I was just thinking of resale value as I won't have it for ever, that's why I was keen on some idea of what people would prefer to buy come time to buy a GTR. I thought they'd rather buy a stockie and mod it themselves as the mods are known to be good and it indicates the prev. owner wasn't necessarily a road racer.
  11. Bought a GTR at 20, damn man!! You must be a hard worker. Wish I could have said that. How have you found it, reliable and reasonable to maintain?
  12. Well I was planning to leave it stock as I have no plans to race it and I have to use it every day and often around the city and their high rise parking lots. I just wanted a nice quick road car but don't need to be the fastest thing on the road. My current car bangs and crashes over bumps then hisses and backfires all down the road which is becoming tiring though sounds lovely. Hmmm...........showing my age now.
  13. Yeah, stuffed the title. It's actually a dealer and the business owner knows the car and wants to use the bits as he races and owns many GTRs. I'm planning to negotiate a straight swap. Reckon it's fair?
  14. Fellas, I'm torn by an offer posed to me recently. I have a SII R33 GTR (Non V) with APEX coil overs, cusco oil catch, Apexi Pods and BOVs, Cat back exhaust, HD Clutch and braided brake lines. It's been damaged and repaired very well though camber settings are out as it must have been hit and there seem to be some wiring issues as I've been losing fuses. 66,000kms. I've been offered a swap with a SI R33 GTR Vspec, totally stock, never damaged, even the boost restrictor in place. 33,000kms. I may have to pay on road costs with a changeover. I feel the stock car being in better condition and being a V would hold more value come resale time but not sure. What would you guys be more inclined to buy, a SI stockie or a modded SII. Opinions would be appreciated.
  15. Nice report Chris. Last time the R33 was in for some gearbox work, they gave me a TT 6speed Supra to get around in for about a week. These things feel to have monstrous low down torque though I felt the feeling was amplified by the fact that it had too low a final drive ratio. 1st gear was almost useless as once you started off, you immediately had to grab 2nd, I found myself using 2nd to 4th to 6th as the ratios were also incredibly close. Powerfull car in a straight line, 6 speed seems pointless though matched to a motor which seemed to have as wide a torque spread as the Supras motor. Don't like the interior, looks as though they designed the dash before thinking of what was going on it. Then when they worked out what they needed, found that it wouldn't fill the expanse of plastic so they spread everything out making it look like its using the whole area. Doesn't work, just looks like a waste. Standard suspension seemed very soft especially in the rear, nice cruiser though. And the traction control was super smooth (unlike the sole smacking CV8s). You'd slip and it would switch to 'snow' and suddenly you felt you were driving a Merc 180. In summary, was extremely pleased to get back into the R33 and its dead hard dampers and AWD.
  16. Chopobo, Used to have a VW that sat 60mm from ground, when I took it to Vic roads to have the canary removed, they not only checked the EXACT ride height, but they also gave the suspension a thorough going over, they even noticed that the trailing arms were sitting on the bump stops so they refused to take the sticker off and asked me to bring it back once fixed. To get the ride height, we put standard wheels back on and pumped them to 40psi, to clear the bump stops, I threw on half height BSs from a beetle. Point is, don't assume they won't look at the car, but if you're lucky, they won't.
  17. I know this is not the most appropriate forum to advertise this, but nobody seems to read the other forums so what's to lose? '90 MR2 Red, Targa Top, Aust Delivery, immaculate original condition, never damaged, Alpine CD, Momo 'Driver', beautiful example. 189,000K $16,750.00 PM if interested.
  18. I know this response is awfully slow, but just stumbled across it and though I could ad something constructive. I currently own an SW20 (Aust) and an R33 GTR, and I love them both. Completely different to drive but very enjoyable in their own way. Never driven a GTS-T but the GTR feels nothing like it's 1600kg wieght would suggest. I'd imagine the GTS would be much the same. Can't go far wrong, the MR is a great car, the Nissan also, the MR harder to drive fast on the twisties but that makes for much enjoyment. Hope this gives some insight.
  19. Here's another veiw.
  20. This might give you an idea, run a filter/vent on the inlet hose. Nice easy installation, I've seen it like this on many cars. Cheers mate. Sorry, filter is actually on the outlet side.
  21. Had a run with a 911 Carrera couple of weeks ago. We had just left Sandown after a Porsche Club track day when this 911 came rushing up behind me and started doing the whole tyre warming exercise to tell me I was going to slow. We came out onto Springvale Rd and they blasted past me making some comment on Jap cars (didn't catch it all). So that was it, I tucked in behind and followed them onto the merging lane onto Princes Hwy. I was right on him so he knew, and once he saw the traffic was clear, he was off in a cloud of smoke, as was I. I chased him to 90 where I pulled to the right lane and slowly passed him (at full noise). By 190, Mr Sky was a good 3 car lengths ahead. I backed off and they went shooting past. We caught up at the next set of lights and I wound the window to say g'day but niether the driver nor his mate would even give me a look. My wife hates me doing that and I generally don't, but she loved outsprinting a porsche. As long as I never do it again. Skyline...............!!
  22. Any of you guys know where I might get an engine bay partition for an R33 GTR? Apparently Apexi make one for the GTS but have no listing for the GTR. Don't mind a nice custom box either, just want to reduce that hot air. Thanks.
  23. Greg, My GTR came with blue badges, I think the owner needed to replace them and simply bought the Blues. I actually wanted to get some red badges, if you want to do a swap, I'd be happy to.

    where to buy mesh?

There's a place in Melbourne named Lockers, they do the expanded sheet but in large sheets only. Looks and feels exactly like the stuff the GTRs come with in their bar. Various sizes.
