  1. Hi guys, ive got an r32 gts4 with an r32 gtr rear diff and standard front diff. The standard rear diff was driven by the previous owner without enough oil, so i know that diff is no good, it really grinds if you try to drive with that diff in. I have an r32 rear diff to get me by until I can replace with another gts4 diff. I was wondering if the crown and pinion gear ? unsure if they are the two parts, but are they interchangable with the gtr's crown and pinion gear?
  2. I can email pictures as SAU limits the file size and I only have hi res pics, I would say condition of shocks poor for the sale, though I am unsure how well they are actually performing as the king springs were very stiff.
  3. Hi, I have just reverted my r32 gts4 to standard suspension, so I have a full set of shocks and springs for sale. Standard shock absorber with lowered king springs, which lower the vehicle around 30mm, sitting standard tyres just below the wheel arch. Which allows 1-2 fingers in between arch and tyre. The car has minimal body roll with these installed. These will fit both R32 GTS-4 and R32 GTR. I live in western sydney, and can deliver to sydney metro. I have high res photos, though SAU limits file size to 2mb, I cannot reduce file size sufficiently to post, though I am happy to email pictures. PM me email address if you would like photos. Asking $200 ono. Ta, Tyler
  4. probably, just strange how symptoms of what seems to be the same issue can be completely different car to car.
  5. Did you find out what the noise was? is the clamp still together?
  6. I would check all your ic piping first, though when i've experienced vacuum leak the turbo absolutely screams and the car wont run at anything more that 10% throttle, leaving masses of petrol in the wake behind the car, though i guess it could be more of a split in a hose which could be from a smaller hose. Try opening the bonnet and getting someone to rev a bit while youre searching for any weird noises, the 'tink' noise sounds more like something solid hitting something solid though....could 'some' of the fins have shattered? leaving enough to boost 4 psi? you could drop the dump pipe and intake off the turbo and have a squiz to eliminate the turbo too. btw, why flame the guy for giving advice? we're all entitled to try to help, regardless if its the correct diagnosis or not, if he was a ****head or something i would probably understand why you're being so critical. He stated he was new to these engines, and therefore probably these forums, so why not try and make him feel welcome, not try to make him look uneducated and alienate him? Any clown can guess a number of ridiculous things, as you have. It would be good to go off something a good mechanic says may have caused the issue. Save your diagnosis for wasteland please. What a ridiculous thing to say. Why not help the guy understand why it couldnt be a bent butterfly? We're a community, with different ideas and views, but every time i come to the forums i have to consider the fact someone like you is probably going to try to flame me for no reason. That said, you're probably right, and its not a bent butterfly, but come-on he was trying to help and you diddnt have rebuke, it wasnt a personal attack on you.
  7. Certainly do, i was so frustrated i was beginning to wonder why i had bothered to get the skyline, i remember now coppers? every place i go to look into the sparkplug book and its always platinums recommended, and not really knowing what i should get i just go by that. i did have an issue with coilpacks though, so it got me in 2 minds about what it could possibly be, knowing that old coils are usually the issue, not new plugs. thanks for the advice mate
  8. Ok, i seem to have solved the issue. I ducked down to peps auto today and picked up 3 more platinum plugs, changed out the 3 discoloured plugs and tested that, and i still had the same issue. This lead me to beleive i have changed all that i could in that area, and the only other modification i could make would be to drop the gap on the plug down a bit, being 17 years old, the whole ignition system is getting tired and probably not delivering the energy to the plug that it needs to maintain spark, (changing to aftermarket coils could also help here). So i dropped the gap from 1.1 to around .8, possibly a little less. I also noticed a small crack in my breather cross pipe, linking the 2 rocker covers, which i cleaned a bit and duct taped it up best as i could. Anywho, started it up, gave it a bit and no problem, pulls to redline with no inkling of a misfire. I should probably look at swapping out and upgrading the coils though, im probably fighting a losing battle with these ones. Thanks for the help guys. Ta
  9. Gday, over the last couple of months ive noticed a pretty bad misfire at and above 4k rpm, which it will always do. I noticed after driving for around 3 hours last week the misfire completely went away, only to come back later. I've tried changing the coilpacks which i beleived could have been the culprit though with changing 4 out to rb25 packs which were working fine prior to me receiving them, i cant get any combination of coil- on plug to eradicate my misfire. I have just removed all the coilppacks and plugs, and ive noticed 1,2,3 cyl experiencing yellow discolouration at the lowest part of the ceramic on NGK platinum plugs, less that 4000 ks old. 4,5,6 cyl plug seem in much better condition, though cyl 2 plug having experienced the worst of the lot, with the yellow looking more intense, resembling sunburn-orange at the lowest point. This leads me to believe cyl 2 must have had the worst of the misfire, with possible misses coming from 1 and 3, as those 3 coils have all had more heat delivered to the ceramic. Those coils have all been replaced, with all combinations of coil i have (10 in total) having been tried. I was running 14 psi with no issues for 3 years, and after noticing the misfire i have wound it back to the lowest possible, 12 psi, though it dosent make a difference 12, or 14. Up to 4000 rpm the car is fine, idles fine and no smoke. The issue could have originated around the time i originally changed the old plugs, which were iridiums. Anyone got any ideas to solve my misfire issue? Ta
