  1. Ok thanks for that, I'll try the ones that don't need parts first~ the AFM install cost me like $400 already..
  2. Oh yes and an ARC super induction box with a new AFM
  3. Cheers missile man, hoped that wasn't the case because it looks pretty new from Japan. So that ruled out... What can it be, it only has aftermarket intercooler, oil catch tank ( at least that's what I think it is, I'll upload photos later) so don't think it's anything off tune. Engine and turbo is stock
  4. Haha any comments welcome but yeah initial power loss/ idle isue is fixed but just the ignition issue bugs me at the moment. It does have a pretty small battery... Could that be the issue maybe?
  5. Yeah, I learnt that yesterday from other members comments so I'll be doing that from now on, It's fortunate I only had the car for a few days and fix bad old habits.
  6. I thought it would be weirder if it has problems starting when warm but that's the way it is at the moment. But it never failed to start yet, just needed to give it a bit of throttle and it goes... Just annoying and don't wanna strain the starter motor that's all if this continues
  7. It's about 5-10 degrees Celsius at the moment and it sometimes fine from dead cold and after driving about 15 mins and restarting it cranks for longer than when I initially started it from cold
  8. Is there something for the cold start?? Where is it? The car has no issues in idle so I don't think it's the iacv but it's just really hard to start sometimes over 3-5 seconds of cranking before it starts and sometimes as soon as I turn the car on, it's on.. I'm puzzled
  9. Hey all as title suggests I'm trying to get one but seems no one sells them anymore... Does anyone know what is equivalent in the new range? And any recommendations on this vs hks silent high power? I'm looking for one that is good sounding but not stupidly loud all the time.. Only when I let loose
  10. ok, when i talked to the workshop, the car has a standard ecu and has never been tuned in the past from what they can see. so that's probably out... but by other things, it means something ignition related no? like spark plugs or coil pack etc?
  11. Sorry I don't understand, manifold pressure?
  12. One more question for you then, the car sometimes starts up well, but sometimes needs a good crank + tap on the pedal to start up. Is this just old spark plugs or coilpack or a battery that may need replacing soon?
  13. Well done and thank you
  14. Took it to the workshop, Scanner found the fault code to be the afm. Changed that and she's like new
  15. Hmmm ok never knew idling to warm up was a bad idea, well you learn something new everyday. Thanks for that
  16. So could be spark plugs, afm, What is AAC? Timing= belt? Fuel pump and pressure seems to be ok, but fuel filter I'm not sure about... And boost leak? The car was running fine after the initial fit it had so I assumed was all good but I was wrong... Seems to boost well when it's working so maybe no leak,, And finally.. Never knew warming up the car can do damage..... Is this really the case? I thought it was the opposite
  17. Cheers for all the input, The car went for a full service changing oil, filter yesterday
  18. Hi all, I was a member about 6 years ago and now I got myself a fresh import gtst so I'm back in the game. Just received my 32 off the boat and was so excited to have another 32 in my life but... my joy was short lived. After a initial drive, i noticed the car was losing power at random points and when i put the foot down it suddenly goes again and loses power again. This was the first problem. second is when I had to stop behind another vehicle, at low rpm even with my foot down on the clutch, the car shut down completely so I had to quickly restart it. I initially drove home and after the first 10 mins of problems, it behaved OK even in the evening when I took it out again and gave it a good run (That's what I thought it needed after being stationary fir a while) This morning, I gave my new baby a wash and a wax and started the car to warm it up and went inside the house, 5 mins later I went out again because it was too quiet, but to my surprise and horror, the car shut down by itself.... I attempted to start it and it did, for about 5 seconds and RPM dropped and died. this repeated about 3 times before I left it alone for about 10 mins before attempting it again. 10 mins later it started after I put my foot down and it somehow managed to stay alive. I went for a drive and just around the corner when I stopped at an intersection, it died again. My first skyline had a similar issue, from memory it was the Air Flow Meter. I was reading the posts and found some similar cases but wanted your inputs in diagnosing what it could be. The car is a 1993 R32 GTST done 67km Japanese auction grade 4. its got a ARC super induction box, aftermarket intercooler, and a non vent to air bov. My first guess is either the AFM or the TPS or coilpack. since it sometimes takes a bit of crank to start her up. Please let me know what you think.
  19. cheers for the input, so the nistune is a separate unit on its own?? or is it a factory ecu with a chip in it? and I have heard the z32 + niistune set up to be a very affordable set up but if money wasnt an issue would you still reccomend the nistune it over the Link G4 plug in + dyno i'm purely wanting something that isnt gonna cause me headaches on the long run..
  20. hi guys, I've just spent the past hour trying to decide with set up will be betterfor my R32 skyline GTS-TI've had a problem with my AFM getting dirty and acting funny come time ago and i'm currently doing some minor stage 1 mods.so far i'm set on a ARC super induction box as my intake, Blitz FMIC and suspension upgrade etc... I will upgrade my fuel sys and turbo eventually but not too soon also so i'm looking for something that is easily tunes even if i upgrade alittle bit at a timeWhen i was finding out about the FMIc upgrade, i was told that they r32 gts's run into driverbility issues when running AFM due to the ecu seeing increased airflow and AFM signal tops out.I'm currently looking at upgrading my system to the Link G4 plugin sysG4 Plug-In - Quick Fit Engine Management — Link Engine Management Systems - plug-in & wire-in aftermarket ECU'sand it states "Enjoy you car now that it makes exciting power, idles beautifully, starts cleanly and drives smoothly" and it seems too good to be true, but these are all i'm after.. but i dont know much about map sensors so i'm a bit scared. i just want something really good and reliable and this seems to be the one.. but will it be still ok if i dont plan to make my car into a track monster??I've read the pros and cons of both AFM and MAP systems but it's still not clear which way i should go, I know skyline owners had numerous issues with their afm's in the past but if my car is being built for reliability as the top priority and is used as a street car as a daily driver what would you guys go for?any feedback about the link G4 or any other recommendations will be much much appreciated thanks in advance
  21. hi, sorry to hear about your problem, my gtst had a similar problem months back and the cause was the faulty cam angle sensor, AFM and ignition amp (module) check those out, hope it helps.
  22. hey man cheers for your input, much appreciated... i liked the sound of GTR power FC, GTR injectors, Z32 AFM with a 2530... its pretty common but seems to be ok with no major issues( just what i'm after.. its been hard since the beginning and i'm pretty much have had enough issues for the next year as well). just a quick q, i've never heard of greddy turn flow.. is it one of those stock replacements or front mounted? and also i've searched for hks 2530's but are they really discontinued now??? whats the closest i'll get if they cant be found anymore? all i want my turbo to do is be stronger (reliability) than stock without the lag and slow spool i'm not a drag or drift just want a awesome streetcar.. cheers again
  23. cheers bro~ will do since she's my first ever skyline and i tend to restore and keep her for a long time
  24. hey guys cheers for the imputs. i've finally got the bloody camera working again i've snapped pics of my skyline she's a 1990 gtst pretty much stock std (the oils leaks are from my other crappy car that i'm fixing up so dont mind it recently had a gbox conversion and i've put a freasher engine in it while at ot so the car is pretty mint engine g/box wise the interior is pretty good considering the age... its 20yrs old ater all.. the car has caused bit of problems from the start... but i guess thats the joy of owning a 20yr old sports car.... my recent problems were... the coil packs that were installed with the engine about a month ago failed... so the car was sounding like a wrx and missing.. i tried to tape the coilpacks with electrical tape and put them back.. like so....(the ones i have are red... prob some cheap ones not sure... pad $350 for em nz dollars... when i did the engine swap but the coils dropped already,,,) but no luck even after taping them... i'm waiting for my splitfires now.. hopefully solves the problem... well i'll keep posting after the parts arrive... i'll try to do most by myself... with all your helpful inputs... except turbo install and etcetc cheers
