  2. I got onto suncorp this arvo and my car is going into there assesor tomorrow, im also getting a free hire car till mine is sorted so it all seems to be ok atm so far. For all the bad ive heard about suncorp they seem alright to deal with so far but tomorrow will tell. In anycase im getting drunk so thanks for the replys and info from everyone its made a painfull situation more bearable! cheers shaun
  3. thanks for the replys it might not be as bad as i thought, i rang suncorp before (thats who the other guy is insured through) and they said once i get his claim number I just give them a ring back and organise to have it taken to there assesment centre, i can then get a repairer of my choice to give a quote and theyll pay to get it done. Ill get the claim number this arvo when the other guy gets home from work and ill start hunting for a panel beater tommorrow. cheers for your help everyone and ill post up updates when they happen shaun
  4. heres pics of the damage strut tower up close\ what do you think right off or not?
  5. cheers mate hopefully mine works out that well! Did you have insurance yourself or did they the others guys insurance ring you? howdyou go about it all?
  6. Ok so this arvo i was driving home from work and a guy pulled out infront of me in a roundabout. I had no where to go and hit him in front of his drivers door. Cops came and booked him and he's intirely at fault.my car got towed to the towing companys lot . The problem is i dont have insurance (4grand a year was the cheapest i could get full comp for), luckily he has full comp and will be paying for my car. Ill post up picks later when i get them off my mates phone but my car is fairly bad, left hand front corner is smashed and its pushed the strut back so the wheel is hitting the guard. punctured the radiator, crushed the intercooler pipe and pod also wrecked my 2 day old au thermals which i only just finished installing. The bonnet, grill, front bar etc are all wrecked to. so what im interested in in what i have to do to get it fixed through his insurance? And if its written off whats the go and how do i get my car back to salvage parts? Ive spent over ten grand on it in the last 4 months getting everything sorted and now this happened. Ill never get a payout to cover what'd cost to replace as is so if the worst happens and its written off i really want it back so i can transplant the good stuff into another car. How can i come away from this without being way worse off?
  7. Any time frame on this? I just had a look at there site and seen this pioneer 2din dvd. keen as to upgrade my cd player to something a bit shinier!
  8. Sorted now cheers to those that helped! I got a pin for the ecu from jaycar today and ran it off the inj 8 aux line (pin 6), works a treat. Ive set it up to come on at 87 with a hysterisis of 5deg and it seems to work fine (runs up to 87 fans come on for about a min then cycle off again, sitting at idle it cyles on for a minute on then off for two or three) Average cruising temp is around 85. thanks again for the help shaun
  9. Over the last few days ive fitted up twin AU thermal fans to my GTST (pig of a job didnt just bolt up like i was led to believe, lots of cutting and bleeding and swearing!) What i want to do is drive them off my Link G4 (plug in) the relays and hardware side is all done I just want to know which wires are GP outputs that i can use to drive low at set temps to switch on the fans ( i want to switch one on at 76 odd and the other at 84) I have the expansion cable plugged into the ECU but it seems that it only has digital inputs and a 5V output? So my question is, can i use the expansion cable to to drive the fan relays or do i have to tap into the ECU loom and use two spare GP O/Ps and if so what wires are they (colour of the wire and pin No would be awesome) Id ring the link guys and ask them but there not open atm and i need to get this done tonight so i can drive to work tomorrow! cheers shaun
  10. As the topic states i have an Emanage Blue and pink label AFM for sale. Can post at buyers expense Pm for my number Greddy Emanage blue piggy back ECU - $200ono its in good nick and was working fine till I pulled it out a few weeks ago (upgraded to stand alone). The label on top has bubbled slightly but doesnt effect it at all. I was getting 200Kw at 12psi with it in and tuned (on a RB30/25) Has about a meter of loom so it can be mounted up and out of the way easily Pink label AFM - $80 ono Also in good condition and removed at the same time as emanage (now using map sensor) The white silicon around the top is from where I opened it upto resolder the dry joints to the plug. (Im an electronics tech so its all done properly)
  11. +1! Ive done a few bars as well as made some parcel shelves and such, its fairly straight forward. I suggest you wear a long sleeve shirt and pants when sanding cos the dust/fibres itch for days if you dont!
  12. Pull the top cover off your afms and resolder the joints. My car had pretty much identical symptoms and thats what caused mine. The reason they run fine cold is because the solder joints still contacted well enough to not lose signal but when a bit of heat gets into it the dry joints open up and go open cct. If i get a chance at work tommorrow ill gut my spare one and make up a tutorial on fixing them, its fairly simple and on takes bout 20 min.
  13. powerchip and hyclone? good for 700killawasps
  14. Map sensor all the way, My AFM was maxing out even running stock boost (RB25/30). Got a link G4 installed and run the internal map sensor. now 12psi no dramas at all.
  15. hey mate, do you have the clutch fan and radiator shroud? And would you be able to post to qld?
  16. hey all, i'd been keen for a decent cruise. Ive only had my license back for a few months so itll be good to get out and have a decent drive. Ill prob just swag it somewhere rather than stay in a hotel but, prob take a fishing rod and camp on the beach hobo style! Whats the plan? Meetup? etc...
  17. check your afm, i had the same sort of problem in my 33, the afm was dry jointed. All you do is cut the silastic off the top cover, pull off the metal shielding then touch up the solder joints between the plug input and the cct board. Took my about 15min and fixed it straight away.
  18. I had a similar problem, my 33 was getting up to 100 odd, changed the spark plugs fixed the problem. dont know how but my car is fine now.
  19. Mine drove fine for nearly two years with the stock ECU, just couldnt run anymore than stock boost, only downfall is it always ran rich and foulled up plugs quickly
  20. Problem fixed no coughs or splutters at all!
  21. Had a breakthrough today while checking my car again (coughing was getting way worse). Pulled the AFM off for about the millionth time and decided to gut it to check the solder joints, a couple of the pins are dry jointed! So ill touch these up when my housemate gets home with the soldering iron and see if this fixes it. Moral of the story dont assume new parts are any good! Its also going in next week for a vipec and tune so this is just a tempory fix to get me to work next week. Cheers for everyones help and ill post back later with the outcome shaun
  22. Can you post up a pic of the tail lights? And can you post them to townsville? cheers shaun
