QUOTE (whatsisname @ 30 Jul 2009, 07:16 PM) Not sure where the RB25DET engine torque figure listed above came from, but it's actually quoted by Nissan as 30.0kgm at 4800rpm - just under 295Nm. Troy, either we have a simple case of miscommunication, or you've plucked that Nissan claim out of your backside mate. Are we talking about the R33 Series 2 RB25DET producing 319Nm peak torque? If we are, then I will happily stake large sums of money on it that Nissan claim 30.0kgm (just under 295Nm) at 4800rpm for the GTS25t RB25DET engine - the factory Nissan Japan 1997-1998 R33 Skyline GT-R and Skyline model range glossy specifications, options, and accessories catalogues on my desk at work tell me so
-
Well, that's pretty much what I was getting at
-
If one were to take the RB25DE and RB25DET minus it's turbocharger and compare the torque output, the naturally aspirated RB25DE would indeed make more torque, due to the 10:1 vs. 9:1 compression ratio. Now add the turbocharger back into the equation, where it rightly belongs on the RB25DET, and 230Nm vs. 295Nm tells the story.

It's hard to know which Port side is going to turn up, hey Luke? The loss to the Dees was the game that would have pissed me the most as a Port supporter. The Crows weren't too flash against the Dees in Melb' either, but to lose to the Dees is saying something. Contain Buddy and Roughhead to 2 or 3 majors apiece and Port can win it, if not, no chance. Port need to be much cleaner with their F50 entry, move the ball quickly and attack. Hawks will employ the zone exactly the same as the Crows just did and will look to repeat their play on at all costs game plan that should have toppled the Cats - Hawks lost that game when they had it in the bag. Cats F50 entries were well down, they just managed to convert when it counted.

How sweet it was to sit in the members and remain dry, whilst watching The Chad chase Stiffy from deep in the Crows backline all the way into the F50 and have a shot goal... Chad looked a bit puffed I tipped the Crows, but didn't see the 70pt thumping coming! Port really missed Brogan, probably his aggression more than anything else - Port still won the clearances. Huge game at AAMI this weekend. Hawks are starting to show signs of their premiership form from last year, Buddy is starting to hit form, and they still have a chance to sneak into the 8 and make a lot of teams nervous. Port have only lost 2 games at home this year, Saints by 66, Crows by 70... What do you Port lads think? Can Port bounce back and get up against the Hawks? On a final note, was sad to hear about Brodie Martin's ACL. What a damn shame. From the rookie list, to the senior list, to 2 huge games for the club, and even burning off Saint Nick in the process, then bang! ACL gone and off for a knee reco'!

Ha ha, just about summed it up to a tee... the wrong way around. Crows uphold their outstanding record in significant milestone games. 7 out of 8 4th week in a row for me, bloody Lions!
-
I'm keen.

Port looked slick tonight. Quick ball movement, good skills, and first to the footy. Hammered us in the ruck too! They clearly wanted it more and they deserved the win. Truck was poor, first time in a while Tredders has won that match-up. I tipped Port and expected them to win convincingly - tipped them by 20pts and wasn't far off - 26pts Really didn't expect the Hawks to win. Fev's miss was a shocker. That's one tip that got away. The Eagles was the other one... mind you it was more of an Eagles loss than a Freo win - 9 goals 20 is a lot of wasted opportunities.
-
Love your work, Pete. Can't fault your tips either... I've gone for the old win-win tip for the Showdown. Crows win, all is good. They lose, I get a tip right. For me the jury is still out on Knights. He's turning into another Scotty Thompson, but with less class and potential. He has a tendency to turn the ball over far too often under pressure (clangers) with poor disposal in clutch situations. I rate David Mackay, NVB, and Bernie Vince all ahead of Knights at the moment. He needs to lift his game to the next level. As for Port, I reckon Choco should've left Carr in perfect opportunity for Josh to get his 'mojo' back. Matty Thomas will have to find someone else to knockout now that Bass' has retired. I hope the game is much the same as the 1st Showdown (Rd 3 or 4?) last year. That was an awesome game. Good hard footy, close all game, with the Crows taking the win by 6pts, and Vince winning the SD medal.

Talk about a blast from the past! It had me thinking WTF!? Andrew's brought an NA R33? Why? Ha-ha.

Outstanding work! Well done to all involved in getting this off the ground and to this point. I am certainly keen to become a card carrying and paid up member. Let me know what needs to be done. Cheers, Matt -
Ha-ha nice work Pete. Just a couple hey mate? There's only 8 games and you're struggling with all bar 3!

Really can't see North getting up. Harvey is a huge out, and the Pies will be fired up to make up for last week - MM will kill someone if they lose again through lack of intensity. Still can't understand why he didn't flood numbers back late in the 4th. Poor coaching and poor effort from the Pies. Won't happen this week. Tipped the Blues over Dogs last week. Hawks are still struggling - Eagles really stretched them in Tassie - so I reckon the Blues again. It's so hard to tip Freo, but if they play like they did last weekend, anything is possible! Eagles 'should' win. It all hinges on Pav'. Got to feel for Palmer. Brisbane will get up at home. Paddy did it once, he won't be able to do it two weeks in a row. Hille is a huge loss for the Bombers and it is going to hurt them for the rest of season '09. Crows were shithouse last week, and I mean SHITHOUSE - I almost turned the TV off the game and skills were that bad - a windy MCG didn't help, neither did the Dees game plan of choking up space in the forward line. I'm putting that game down as a glitch. We got the 4pts and that's all that matter. While we're talking about Crows MCG clashes, I was at the Pies Rd1 game... and tipped against us, what a win-win tip that was! Port weren't great last Friday night, but the real key to the Port vs. Saints game wasn't so much Ports game, it was all about how good the Saints are travelling. Their pressure on the ball carrier is outstanding so far this year, better than the Cats and that's huge rap! I was at the Saints vs. Crows game and I thought the umpiring made the Saints seem better than they were... having now watched the rest of their games since, they are the real deal. My hearts says Crows... my head says Port. I'll be in the Members on Sat' night, so if any of you fellow SAU's are going to be in the Members let me know and I'll be sure to say g'day. I just hope we get a crowd of 40k plus, so Sam has to front up to Rundle Mall in his Reg Grundies.

Guilt-toy Now Running On E85 !
whatsisname replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Pete, I should have been a bit clearer when I wrote E85/91RON. E85/91 = 85% ethanol + 15% 91RON petrol E85/98 = 85% ethanol + 15% 98RON petrol How much of a difference is there between the two - in terms of total RON etc. - I couldn't say. I would have expected some difference. Skorpos? Never heard of this servo'. -

I'll throw this one out to all the other E85 converts that have been following this thread since GT started the ball rolling; Has anyone done any back-to-back testing/dyno runs or seen any conclusive results between ‘normal’ E85 and the 98RON blends? I have been using the local ENFFUE E85 – which I’m lead to believe is E85/91RON – and just recently I stocked up with a batch of E85/98RON. I’ve yet to try it out and am curious to know if it has the potential to provide further gains on an already optimised E85 tune? -

Thanks, GT. Pete, welcome to the forum mate. Excellent first post and well done on promoting E85 too - the more people start to embrace this fuel the more the demand and the greater chance we have of seeing it well established around the state and eventually the entire country. -
Pga-sa Interclub Dyno Day #3 - 14th March 2009!
whatsisname replied to car_fanatica's topic in South Australia
Hey Lee, No prob's mate. Good old E85 Yep, NVCS is still operational. Built bottom end with low comp' is part of the reason for the difference in response between our set-ups. I've seen reports from people that have used both dyno's that show one and then the other reads higher/lower. I know on one thing for sure, a dyno figure is just a number. Yeah be good to see how Adrian's car goes on the GWW dyno now. From your latest info' on the Mawson Lakes ENFFUE station it sounds a little more promising that it first appeared. Fingers crossed the news continues to improve. -

Pga-sa Interclub Dyno Day #3 - 14th March 2009!
whatsisname replied to car_fanatica's topic in South Australia
Thanks for info' Chad. Much appreciated. Well, it would appear that it's inconclusive as to either dyno reading higher or lower. Ignore my previous statement, I'll take my 366rwkw figure on face value. At the end of the day a dyno figure is just a number, a dyno day is just a bit of fun, and a dyno is just another tool for use in the automotive industry. What we really neeed is a drag strip. Then we could put our power to good use. -

Just a quick one for Lee and Adrian. Guys, what brew of E85 are you using? The 'soon to be gone???' ENFFUE blend? I have some new E85/98RON that I'm keen to try out when I get some spare time. Be interesting to know if either of you guys have used this stuff already? -

Adrian, congratulations on an awesome result mate. It is exactly what I would have expected from a GT3582R running E85 at 24-25psi. Mind you, you're not playing fair, when did you add those two extra cylinders? In all honesty, you should have killed us at the PGA dyno day. From what I've read and hear on the grapevine the GWW Mainline reads some what higher than the Willall Mainline, in the vicinity of 15-20+rwkw and in some cases even more*. You have 400rwkw potential if you put it on the GWW dyno... go on, stick it on there mate, show us 400+rwkw - it will also help to show the difference between the two dyno’s. An ex-work colleague of mine, and one of his mates, put their Renault Clio Sport 182’s on the GWW dyno and saw figures of 109fwkw and 103fwkw. At some stage later down the track, they then put the cars on the Willall Mainline, the results were in the 80's and high 70's. Based on the above, and until I see otherwise I reckon my car is making around 340-350rwkw. Which I think I can live with, as lowly as that figure is... in comparison to Adrian’s rocketship! Here’s my dyno sheet from the PGA dyno day. The engine has not even looked like suffering detonation running as lean as lambda 0.86-0.88. Also take note that my peak torque figure is down on yours, Lee. Boost comes on earlier and hits harder than mine so I’m guessing that’s the main factor. -
Guilt-toy Now Running On E85 !
whatsisname replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I have been flat-out at work all week, so this is my first chance to post. Now, my news might not trouble anyone outside of SA, but as of last Friday the Malaysian company Carotino, that owns Environmentally Friendly Fuels (ENFFUE) and the old South Australian Farmers Fuels (SAFF), has pulled the pin on the entire operation. This means that they (ENFFUE) are now in receivership. I have yet to find any news media detailing the situation, but having rang ENFFUE Australia head office it doesn't look good. Their office manager told me over the phone that 'we have just been placed into receivership and if you want to know about getting access to E85 in the future you will have to liaise directly with the service station owners' - understandably, she didn't sound very happy There are currently only two service stations in SA that sell E85 and both are ENFFUE outlets. The manager at the main station said he has no idea about the future of E85 at their servo’, or any of servo’ in SA for that matter. His words were “I have 400L left and after that, who knows. If you want some you’d better get down here quick.” However, on the flipside, it turns out a local race fuel/oil distributor that I have had dealings with over the years has recently set themselves up to sell a high-performance E85 brew (E85/98). They are charging $1.70L and are ‘hoping’ they can maintain a regular supply. Why hoping? Because they were sourcing their E85 through the same supply chain as ENFFUE. I have stocked up on this brew (have ~$170L) and am hoping this will last me until a regular supply has been re-established. Failing that it looks like I’ll be paying a shitload for 200L drums - as required. It will be interesting to see if my current tune will require any tweaking to suit the E85/98 brew vs. the old E85/91 brew. Oh, and I entered in a 40 car field dyno day last weekend. Lee (RB25DETS2) encouraged me to enter, lent me his rear wheels and tyres (had MT ET Radials fitted and they don’t like dyno rollers), and provided his tools and assistance to swap rears. It came as a huge surprise when I ended up winning the event outright with 366rwkw on 22.5psi. Lee’s ’33 came a strong second with 356rwkw on 23psi. One or two big hitters didn’t make it on the day and one or two had issues, so I kind of fell over the line more than anything else. -

Damon, thanks for the kind words mate. I never got a chance to finish off our conversation, sorry mate! Damo, even with a standard turbo the improvements to be had from E85 are significant. Even without increasing boost pressure you will see gains in power, torque, response, and reduced engine temperatures. E85's ability to support large increases in timing is the key to the performance gains (without the use of boost pressure increases).
