  1. Hi scw087, the intercooler is exactly as you see it in photos. No problems with it at all, I only replaced it as I upgraded to a 100mm thick item to chase much larger power levels. Further info', it was supporting just on 300rwkw on my R33, and was on the car when I ran the numbers you see below (see sig') If you definitely want it, let me know what freight option you prefer and we can go from there. Cheers, Matt
  2. Photo of Nismo horn button added, as promised - apologies for the delay. However, it's no longer sealed in the plastic bag - I had to open it to take the photo
  3. Stand by on that one! I will have one up for you to see within the next 3hrs.
  4. Sorry mate

  7. Adrian, congratulations! Zoom is one of the better performance automotive publications on the Australian market and it's good to see one of 'our own' heading it up.
  8. I tend to agree with the latter line of thinking. Smaller exhaust housing size to keep the response right up there, but push the maximum out of the compressor with E85 and ignition timing to help. I downsized my exhaust housing because I didn't like the lag and was content to aim for low 300's vs. the mid 300 potential of the larger housing - and it looks likely that E85 will give me mid 300's anyway
  9. Nice find, Adrian. This is exactly my kind of car, low key, no fuss, clean and tidy looking on matching 17's, nice engine set-up and under bonnet detail, with serious grunt and outstanding results on the strip!
  10. I'd just like to say that E85 is crap, horrible stuff, don't bother using it at all, stick to 98 or race fuels... and leave ALL the E85 for me to use
  11. Ha-ha no harm done mate. Yeah I felt sorry for you, and the guys trying to sort out the issues. Shaun is as good as they come in the performance workshop game. His Boostworx business certainy gets busy, but I guess that to be expected when you're recognised as being a decent and sensibly priced outfit. Maybe it was another bottom end with a cracked block? I knew your RB had issues after the head work, and I was checking out a cracked RB block sitting on the eng' stand near your Stag' on the hoist. Then again, given the number of RB motors that are in at BW at any given time it might have been totally unrelated to your beast. Anyway, it's up and running now and that's the main thing. And with a bit more work (bigger turbo) you should start to see the benefits of that head work.
  12. Well, it looks I should pay more attention to the 'Spotted' thread. I had no idea I'd been spotted, which is a fair effort given it rarely comes out of the shed these days - other than to head to the workshop. Yeah it does spend of bit of time down at BW I'm still around, Cara I still have my quick scan of the forums to keep tabs on things and add my 2c here and there, but not so much on this thread. Ahh Andrew, how could you!? Don't you remember when Burgers and I worked together at the same 'RAAF' unit? Nevertheless, the Army is close enough. We'll have to organise some more poker nights mate, once Trent's pad is up and running. I owe Will some serious bad beats. Yeah if we had a track, I’m fairly confident a low 11 would be achievable, actually a high 10 isn’t out of the question if the latest tweaks work the way we’re hoping. Still hoping for a ride in Martin and Keir’s ’35. It was good to catch up and see the new flagship model at the same time mate.
  13. Brendan, so it was your Stag' at BW! I thought that might of been your beast. I had a look at the spec's list a week or so back (whilst lending a hand at BW and having just taken my 33 down there) thought it sounded familiar. Sorry to hear (see, smell, and get gassed out by) the cracked block issue She was looking like a smoke machine for a while. Poor old Andrew, he pulled the head apart twice in the process of that job (initial and then to diagnose the issue) and then Troy got a go, along with the bottom end. I had a look at the crack in the block, makes me think it was a little 'unhealthy' prior to the latest mod's. And here I was suggesting for you to 'do' the bottom end whilst you were planning to do the head... I didn't mean that kind of 'do'!
  14. I don't have time for a detailed reply, but what I will say is this, I acknowledge and agree that the SA Government has much bigger 'fish to fry' (my wife and brother-in-law are both State Government accountants in upper hierarchal financial and management accounting roles) however, if you read through my earlier post on this topic (did you read that one?) and read my post above with open eyes you'll see that all it really takes is for the SA Government to provide procedural support, cut through the red tape if you will. Private backing and the funds required have never been a major issue, I was merely suggesting that some of the more forward thinking states and territories in this country were capable of committing tax payers money. States that are, coincidentally, moving forward and doing quite well. You'll get no argument from me that it's a fantastic revenue raiser for the Rann Government, defect blitzing is a cash cow! What I will disagree with you about is the economic benefit of a drag racing venue to SA. If such a facility was to be built (or improved upon, in the case of redeveloping AIR - properly) then it could potentially inject money into the local economy by way of interstate visitors coming to watch and/or competing in large scale events - think Jamboree, Nationals, ANDRA Championship rounds, Top Fuel, Top Bike etc. Okay so it's not going to make millions in state revenue and boost the local economy to buggery, but it will certainly make a small impact and it will also have a positive follow-on in the other areas previously mentioned. Take note of comments in para' 4 and 5 in my previous post with regards to, 'but you don't seriously think 'hoons' will stop racing on the streets?' I'll pose a question back to you, do you think having a venue won't make a difference at all, not one iota, no chance that a life could be saved by giving an alternative to 'hooning' on the streets? Oh yes, everyone can go flat-out in a straight line, hence every novice drag racer 'nails' their steeds maximum potential first time out, without fail I like going fast around corners and in a straight line, but my talking is done at the end of the day, over a few beers and with a few mates with the ego's left behind.
  15. Hey Adrian, ah yep that's right, I remember now 302 and 286 or thereabouts on W's mainline. Awesome results once again, especially through that little comp' cover! Oooh a Kaaz 2 way , nice, I like. Yeah I hope so, Lee. It should still have a bit more in it on 98, the HKS cams are yet to be tuned to suit the new set-up. Might get a handful of kw on top of the E85 gains.
  16. I can recall a good mate of mine making 321rwkw about 3-4 years ago using a HKS GT3037S with a 0.87 exh' on a standard RB25DET, although his engine did have a HKS head gasket and HKS cams. But the power levels were no different, only the fuel - 98 vs. E85 - HKS cams and a few pounds extra boost would have made up the majority of the power in this example. It would have been interesting to see how much extra his old set-up would have made on E85 - 350 to 370rwkw maybe. I don't doubt the power figure for a second. The longevity on a standard 9:1 bottom end and stock cast RB25 pistons is debatable, but until it fails more power to Lee!
  17. Of the 8 or so cars I've witnessed or heard about, all have gained between 40-60rwkw. How much is yours making again Adrian, and which turbo? A good locker diff' and/or a gentle right foot when required.
  18. I've only got 300 at the moment and 3rd can be interesting on coolish 275 MT ET's. Turbonetics T62-1/T3 Stage 3 (0.63 A/R) The compressor can support well into the 350+rwkw range, but I downsized the Stage 5 exhaust housing to get better response. So mid 300's should be achievable. Knowing my luck I'll be the first one to see no gain at all on E85
  19. Engine light comes on whilst still running? Misfiring really comes down to a few basics. It's either the spark plug itself, the coil, ignition amp, ECU issues, or any of the wiring and connections between the listed components. It's just a matter of working through each item and removing it from the equation until you pin point the problem. I would start with identify which cylinder it's dropping and then go from there. If the plugs are all fresh and aren't being continually re-fouled then look at swapping the coil over from the cylinder that is dropping out and see if the problem follows - it might take a bit of time if the problem is intermittent (intermittent problems are a PITA). Make sure you also clean the coils and the area in between the rocker covers and ensure they are all free from moisture. If moisture (from coolant or any other source) keeps appearing after you've cleaned it thoroughly then something is certainly amiss and it's not a coil problem! I've got 6 factory RB25DET coils in perfect health sitting in my shed that can be used for testing purposes - unfortunately they probably won't help on a R34 RB25DE. Good luck.
  20. Wow! Those 555cc Nismo's are doing a fantastic job. What's the base fuel pressure set at? More than 45psi? I'll go and suss out the RB25 upgrade thread. I'll have to upgrade the E85 thread too, we've decided not bother doing a back-to-back 110 vs. E85 - Shaun doesn't have the spare time to be doing a test for the sake of it, which is fair enough at such a busy workshop. I ended up going with 910cc and a new rail to suit, it looks nice and shiny after I polished it at work. The old (still like new) rail and 550's are out and available for sale. I doubt I'll ever need to upgrade injectors again, and I'm over rewiring the injector loom after three changes in 4 years E85 just makes the whole package come alive, torque, power, response, less lag, the works. Edit: Just had a look at the graph, look at how that thing comes on boost now! Your tyres must hate full throttle and the first 3 gears?
  21. GT, this problem is so much bigger than one low ranking traffic police officer could ever deal with. Neil and the SAU community alone aren't even in the ballpark when it comes to fixing a statewide mismanagement of Light Vehicle Modifications and ADR compliance. This stuff is MP/Government lobbying territory! It needs people in positions of power and influence, and/or maximum weight of numbers. But it is a starting point, I'll give it that. The other problem, GT, is the fact that SA legislation is written such that there are loopholes to avoid legal issues from incorrect application of LVM and ADRs. In short, good luck to a lawyer trying to make a case against an incorrectly applied defect from a police officer 'reasonable grounds to suspect' is good enough for them and a court of law. I'm sure Johnny Cochrane could do it, or whatever his name is.. The Chewbacca Defence ;-) Then again, if Transport SA officers were put on the stand and asked to show where it states in legislation that coil-over suspension (as a random example) must not be user height adjustable and there wasn't any... As I said late last year, and as far back as 2001 (along with others that were aware of the situation) this state need a serious shake up in regards to LVM and the application of ADRs. If I had the time, resources, and connections (or more of them) then I'd take it on singlehandedly, but alas I don't. I really hope that something can come of this and I would love to see it go beyond the embryonic stage. Imagine the satisfaction in knowing that you assisted in reshaping South Australian history... by helping to introduce new legislation that governed the application and policing of road registered vehicle modifications.
  22. Awesome results! Congrat's Lee. I'm hoping mine is done in the next few days ;-) Lee, what size injectors are you running now, same as before? And did you do a before and after back-to-back dyno? I love E85.
  23. Such a poor view to take on this issue. Reuben, I would have expected better from you. I would argue that the illegal 'hoon' activities that make the biggest headlines (Aust' wide) and cause the biggest impact, are those that center around illegal street racing. I've lost count of the headlines that talk of illegal 'drag racing' and the horrible end results. As for Mallala, it's plain and simple, the place isn't set-up for genuine 1/4 mile racing, not even close. So, how does one get their fix of drag racing action in the flesh, hands on? They either don't, or they partake in something that is a bandaid fix (Mallala) or do something illegal on public roads. You say it's not a Rann Government problem. I'd say they clearly have a problem! Why do you think they're putting so much pressure on the SA police force and other motor vehicle regulatory bodies in relation to 'hoon' driving? Sure you can never completely remove the 'hoon' element from society, but supporting a multi-purpose drag racing venue and providing a safer, legal option for those that are more likely to do the right thing given an alternative is surely a step in the right direction, don't you think? Give the hoon element and the fringe dwellers (those that will only offend if they have no other way to get their 'fix') an alternative! The WA, NSW, TAS, QLD and NT Governments' obviously agree, hence they supported the exact same thing I have suggested. I don't have my head in the sand and realise that these states still have their illegal street racing problems, but I would argue that without their legal alternatives things would be a lot worse. The picture of the NT Police VY SS on the Hidden Valley drag strip above is precisely what I'm getting at! The NT Government have acknowledged that they can take positive and pro-active steps to encourage safe, sensible, and legal means of performance 'hoon' driving. And they even devote tax payers funds to do it - the VY SS. The pros outweigh the cons. But hey, why not just target performance car enthusiasts as much as possible, defect people to buggery, and generally treat these types of people as the criminals they are! That way the Government makes lots of bonus revenue and the average joe public thinks the Government have got it under control and are doing a great job.
  24. The Rann government is a good starting point if one wanted to make a difference in regards to the current SAPOL directives/lack of legal off-street facilities/minority based decisions. If you want to try and make a difference, use your vote to see Rann gone and look to vote for candidates that have plans to see this state 'grow'! For heavens sakes, even Tasmania has more going for it these days. The Rann government are happy to make money from the 'hoon' element via events such as the Clipsal 500 and Classic Adelaide - clearly performance motoring events - however they aren't prepared to be supportive (even if only in process and red tape) to see a motor sport venue built thereby giving residents somewhere to use their cars and bikes legally. This irks me no end, they are basically saying…’come along to our motor sport events and spend up, but don’t even think about taking that interest in motor vehicles to the point that you want to modify your own car’ And don’t even get me started on the complete farce of light vehicle modification enforcement in this state. The WA government not only supported Kwinana Motorplex, they put taxpayer’s funds into building it - information on these costs is easily found on WA government financial reports. The NSW government (after much lobbying) did likewise with WSID – and they already had a drag strip that was serviceable! I'm not sure about Willowbank in QLD, Hidden Valley in the NT, or VIC and TAS, but I'd be very surprised if the other state government didn't provide support in one way shape or form. There are numerous motor sport enthusiasts in South Australia; the Clipsal attendance figures confirm this to a certain extent. I don't see why these same people couldn't put pen to paper to show support for a venue like Kwinana or WSID. I know it has been tried before, but that was really only an event that attracted owners of the cars and bikes. What we need are ALL enthusiasts involved. We need a group of people with the resources and time to build a genuine petition and lobby the Rann government. And if that fails, then vote them out and try the next government. I became a resident of South Australia in 2001 (ex NSW, ex TAS) and in my time I can honestly say that there has been very little if any real progress – apart from residential sprawl and industrial development. And while I’m at it, who the hell signed off on a ‘one way’ freeway!? Complete fools. I’ve gone off the track of police targeting somewhat, but if you read between the lines you’ll realise that I’m aiming at the root of the real problem here… how can a government be serious about hoon activity if it offers no legal alternatives. This idea that ramping up police scrutiny and forcing people off the road via continual defects isn’t a solution at all, all it does is raise revenue whilst attempting to looking like they are serious about a solution. A new Adelaide based motor sport facility will never completely eradicate hoon activity on the roads, idiots will always be idiots, but I can bet my bottom dollar that it will see a reduction in these kinds of problems. Moreover, this in turns means police resources can be better utilised in other areas that need them more now!
  25. Yeah I often buy the 'other' brand and model when I prefer something else... it's a hoot. Hey look, there's nothing wrong with a bit of seal love - you'd get to see those seals all the time with that fragile whipper snipper motor Oh, and thanks for the link to the Wiggles video.
