Buying a used car is a lottery whether you get it from a dealership or privately owned..
At least the dealership has to compete with the guy down the road and that's where you can get a better deal. The most important thing is to remain cold about it because if you like a car that you see for sale "too much", you tend to justify whatever might be wrong with it. Get it tested.. if you know a mechanic, have him/her take a look at it first.. call the NRMA... whatever you do, make sure the car is not going to fall apart the moment you drive off. In any case, any dealership, ANYWHERE has AT LEAST $2.5K mark up on their cars.. so whatever you see on the window... minus 2.5k should ALWAYS be your first offer.. then work from there.
