  2. ohhh, i understand.....thats bad. I have noticed it suffers from minor heat soak now at 1.2 bar, losing 1-2kw over various dyno runs!! i currently have 260awkw so i guess they have quite a bit left? I will have to monitor the exhaust temp and inlet temp if i put some more boost through? I was hoping to run them on 20psi.....but i might have to check. Do plain bearing turbo's continue to audibly spin after the engine is turned off for 15-20seconds?? I have been told that, the spinning sound is because they are ball bearing? here are some pics of the turbo's when my engine was out
  3. sorry to hijack BNR, i have a few more questions below?? - Do the compressor sizes differ much for group A's and are they all ball bearing? - What sort of power are people making with their setups? - What is the max PSI efficiency, 1.3bar?? I have a big FMIC, 120mm thick? Cheers, Francisco
  4. yeah, i would suggest that people with GTST's get the CF bonnet resprayed a normal colour so that its not as obvious to the cops?? I would just save so much hassle with the cops!! Anyone with a GTR & a CF bonnet must really want to save every gram!! as said above the aluminium bonnets are prob .5kg heavier........other than that it sucks because the CF Bonnets look hawt!!!! this of course excludes squizz, sorry to hear about the hail damage after the storm!! i would love a copy of the ADRS ^^
  5. Hi, i have a set of group A's, i thought they were the same as N1's, but would be great if someone can correct me. Mine are quite laggy, not hitting useable until 3900ish, and they really start going after 4. i have dynoed 260kw@all 4's so i guess that translates to about 340hp@wheels and that is at 1.2bar or 17psi. I have almost travelled 5k since the rebuild and i will be adjusting the timing and winding the boost up to 1.35/1.4bar depending on the exhaust temps? i will also be putting a larger exhaust on the car as it is only a 3 inch. When i have done this i am expecting around the 280+kw@aw i have heard that they are practically the same as HKS 2530's as far as size, but the HKS units can handle slightly more boost and also run cooler when pushed. If anyone has more info i would really like to know! cheers, Francisco

Yeah i think i will push it a little latter on, 1.3-1.4 should be achievable i would have thought....if i only run it down the quater etc. it has forggies (arais), ACL race bearings, cometic metal HG 1.6mm, 750cc's, but only shot peened rods(weak link), all fully balanced etc. Also the head is standard, but new/reco'ed head, not sure if that makes any difference to the amount of boost i can run?? i think it can handle it, but i dont want to blow it up!! cant afford another rebuild for a long time!! Matties tune is spot on from what i am told, and before i wind the boost up i will be changing the exhaust to a 3.5 system, as my current system has a cat and 2 x mufflers. $$ are a problem for a while though!
  11. its interesting to see the power through the rev range, dirks GTR produces more power at 100kph than mine. I guess thats turbo lag for you.
  12. Yeah thats at 4 wheels. The colour is my fav, had to search far and wide to find it! I would really call it a stoke car though....its got a few modifications
  13. hi, Dyno'ed at the sau day on sat and spun up 259.2awkw, on 1.2bar. I might have to put it in for another session and get the timing played with. Maybe i should up the boost to about 20psi? anyway its got enough power for me at the moment!!
  14. Thanks to all who organised the day it was great. Thanks to Mercury MS for the day as well, i didnt realise they had such a good setup! Good power from Dirk's almost stoke GTR!! I think Martin's 33 will pick up alot of power when he puts engine management back on and puts in a little boost. Dave's r33 Gtst sounds like its got a hell of a lot left in it if it was only boosting to 14psi!! Yes '32 VSP' is my Blue GTR. It has travelled 3,500kms since the rebuild and its running 1.2bar with n1's. It has all the supporting gear to support about 20psi? but im not going to push it, thats HEAPS of power for what i use it for.......for now :wassup: . Maybe when the engine has bed'ed in some more i will push it? If only it had got to 260awkw!! 259.2awkw is sooooooo close :wassup: Cheers, Francisco
  15. na, its 75% of RPM where your car produces peak power. so on a GTR peak power is at 6,800rpm, thus db reading is taken at 5,100(75%), and a gtstr33 would be 4,800rpm. It was the same for the 200sx that was there. He had to rev it to 4,800rpm. even the stoke s15 exhaust made 87db's!! i dont think there is ANY chance that i would pass with anything less than a stoko
  16. yeah i pushed it around for 900kms(oil & filter change), then ran it in on the dyno for 3 hrs. after 2000kms i changed the oil and fliter again to synth 5w50 and i will do it again before sat. Yeah i dont think it was tuned for power, or at least i HOPE not, lol!! Thanks guys!
  17. yeah thats what i thought, anyway i am going to the sau dyno day tomorrow so ill post up the results on a different dyno. I think also a limiting factor in my systme is the exhaust as its only 3 inch & i have a 3 inch cat? i will be putting a 3.5inch system on at the start of June. From there i guess i will be saving to get it re-tuned with the cam gears adjusted. i was expecting about 280kw+, but was a little surprised with 250. Not sure if it makes a difference but the dyno was done after 900kms and was a tune run not a power run, done in 3rd? Also i was running the second batch of run in mineral oil at the time?
  18. Hey everyone, I have had my 32 GTR rebuilt and iv now done 3000kms. I had it on PITS dyno and spun up 250kw at the rears @ 1.2bar. Im running arias pistons 87mil bore, standard cams, 750cc injectors, pfc, ngk ird .8m plugs and N1 turbo's. I have adjustable cam gears but they are at the standard setting. I dont really want to pay $140 an hour on the dyno up front to experiment with the timing?? Thought i might ask the question as to what other people are running as far as timing and what power levels they are getting vs the standard timing?? i have heard 2 deg's on the exhaust with my setup could improve power through the range?? cheers, Francisco

  20. Hi, Just got done for my exhaust being "too loud", even with my baffel in place!! Read 94.5db, bastards made me rev to 5,100rpm!! Does anyone have or know where i can get standard GTR cat back from?? Cheers, Francisco
  21. yeah i got done for my exhaust aswell, they make you rev it to 5,100 for GTR's because its 75% of max power. i have a 2 x mufflers and a baffel in my rear exhaust and i was up to 94.5db!!! might have to get a stoke exhaust from somewhere.

  25. yeah i have found this site in NZ, they have made fc-datalogit but its expensive $400us. i think its a big waiting list from what i have heard, someone may be able to correct me?? i would love to find out if its possible to make one.
