hey mate, sorry to hear about the crap you are going through...& i can say that i have been through it all. My old GTR was pulled over along with another 7 of us when we were on the way down from Mt nebo. They went over our cars with fine tooth combs to try and find defects. i was booked for having a non-standard exhaust, and i had to present it to get DB reading. But there was no fine, just a defect notice as the exhaust sounded non standard & had to be presented. I then fitted a standard exhaust and still blew over the 90DB limit!!!! Yeah i then had a private test done and it blew 91db which is acceptable under their deviation rules. cost me heaps of $$ and i can say that any non standard exhaust will blow over the limit. i think that if the cop at the time couldnt determine the DB of the exhaust, he should have requested the vehicle be presented for proper testing. cheers Francisco

happy B day mate! I was down at mercury getting the car dynoed and they had a new sp23 in there that had dynoed 180kw at the front wheels with a turbo kit they installed from the US... i mean its not GTR power but for a small car thats heaps of mumbo. cheers, Francisco

hey everyone, i have a moded R32 GTR, and i just got comp insurance from justcars with, exhaust, cage, turbo suspension etc for $1300pa. Excess for an accident is $2100 & if stolen, $1800. im pretty happy since a year ago it was $2900!! im 23 rating 2. cheers -

yeah i will definatley try it. i know wrxilla was having problems getting over .9bar with his exhaust control valve and now that its out he is hitting 18psi. -

yeah point taken, 2530's are great turbo's. i think at the moment is will stick with the big single because i cant afford to change. i can afford to fix the tune and engine management and squize in a little more boost. U dont think getting the boost to 15psi earlier will make a big difference? its only at 10psi at 5k? not sure if the intercooler will make a difference, possibly better response? -

yeah R31Nismoid it was a hot day, driving it al day in 35 deg heat before the run, pretty safe to say it was quite warm under the hood even when the fans were put on it. as stated above my last GTR had a set of lowmount twins that were pulling mid 280's at the wheels, so i am quite familiar with the feeling of more power from lower down in the rev range. im pretty sure that GTSS's & 2530's dont produce 300rwkw from as low as 3500rmp-4500rmp???? even though the graph says it was a 3rd gear run, it was actually a 4th gear run but did actually make 286awkw in 3rd, with a much better looking graph. i didnt get a digital copy of the 3rd gear run, but ill scan it. benl1981 yeah anytime, r u in QLD? it would be pretty interesting actually. only started giving it some stick since saturday when i found out the tune was safe and havent lined up against anything... it does seem to me that there may be a boost problem....it has one of those apexi exhaust control valves..i know people have problems with them all the time. -

yeah the 4th gear power curve was a little flat, but im not trading for a GTST anyday!! LOL i think the boost creep is normal for a standard wastegate spring & no boost controller? yeah from what i have heard, the injectors must have huge pressure behind them (fuel pres reg & big pump). Apparently they use this to create a cleaner combustion?? i would say that the injectors may have to be highflowed.. i had ball bearing N1's(r34) on my last GTR and this setup definitely doesnt have as much mid range, but the lag isnt to bad. ultimatly it needs a tune & injectors to pull the tune into shape -

hi everyone Well after some crazy finance stuff went down with my last GTR & subsequent sale before xmas ....i took delivery of my new GTR on thursday...and im happy to say that its all going well so far!! its a 1990 model built at the Tomei workshop. First stop was Mercury Motorsport for a tune check to find out how its running (air fuel etc)..as it has got a rytech computer and i dont want to blow it up....it pulled very nicely given its running 1 bar (just) & standard intercooler & injectors. Running a little rich dipping into the lower 10s on the dyno but overall a good tune (nice & safe). Is anyone else running this kind of turbo? and has had experience increasing the boost a little? cheers, Francisco -

hey mate, the fastest gtst i have ever been in had the apexi RX6 turbo kit & mild cams...i think it had dyno'ed 290kw @ wheels. great spool/response as well..the guy was trying to sell it to me and took me for a spin around mt cootha in it....lets just say it didnt have any problems cutting the rear wheels loose...LOL i can try and find the guys detials if you want, he started a workshop near mercury ms -

thanks boys, yeah i think that with some injectors, power FC and massive FMIC it could make some big power....funny the turbo is only rated at 550hp and im nearly making that at 1 bar?? that will be a little down the track....:-( the funds are streched!! hahah i would of thought it wasent even really getting going at that boost?

thanks mick yeah the bar wont be a prob mate, and i got a free alarm out of kris for it, yey.....just hope it wasn’t from drifting through an industrial estate LOL..na most of the paint came off and i will get it all shmicked up well the power figure will remain a mystery which i can neither confirm nor deny...lets just say that the figure is over 250awkw. hhaha. the figure was made with really high intake temps as i was driving it around all day...48deg so i am going to redo it later on when i get the new intercooler and cold air intake ill redyno and maybe tell... but the turbo is awesome....the car is so quick its scary...for me anyways LOL

Best thing is the handeling!! cusco swaybars & upper links...solid mounts...roll cage...very stiff & nice tein adj coilovers, bit stiff but goes around corners a lot better than my last GTR. Brakes are standard calipers but upgraded pads discs & braded lines...also tomei master cylinder stopper & ABS removed. i cant believe the difference over my last ones...and my last ones were vspec brembo's!! Overall, the car needs a little care and attention but should be great when finished!! u'll probably see me out and about

wow....alot of respect for your build mate....its not only painful to fork out the $$ but more so in the time it takes to get it together and on the road!! but its worth it, at the end of the day u'll have an awesome setup!! cant wait to see the figures it pumps out...its going to be a beast -
