  1. At the end of the day, old skylines are all, well, old and pretty crap, but excellent bang for buck if u go turbo, don't even think about a na, as it will be slower and older than your commy. Get all the usual checks done, but remember they are old cars and you will need change to fix things
  2. Ku36's are a "sporty" tyre. Importantly, they don't fall apart or chunk like many other road tyres do when ya push them. So from that perspective they are a reasonable compromise But for the money, cheap r specs are the go, not just for the grip, but how progressive they can be when you start to loose grip
  3. I've recently been shopping around and found Toyo r888's to be quite cheap at the moment. They are nowhere near as good as the advans, dun lops, etc. I've done a few track days on mine and they're just above the indicators. The ku36 is a decent sporty tyre (have run these street and track) as I assume the federal is, but for the price you will be mad not to go for proper r spec like the r888 (mine were cheaper than ku36 & $100 over federal for the set)
  4. Interested in motor and turbo's if still for sale What is the history of the motor?
  5. Yes, Club racer is what i meant, I have little complaints, just curious how they compare to some of the stuff mentioned in this thread (Hawk, QFM's, etc) Based on your comment Funkdoc I'll just order some more mu's....
  6. I'm in need of yet another set of pads for my r32 Gtr streeter / toy Currently run project mu "club spec" pads on r34 gtt rda rotors The pads perform well, and are reasonably behaved on the street. Obviously more rewarding once warmed up. . . Looking for something with similar performance that might last a bit longer, these are only lasting a few trips to mallala until they get unpredictable and they break up. Not interested in a big brake upgrade, prefer to keep having fun in my stock r32 thanks Can anyone recommend some pads that will provide similar performance and possibly more life for a reasonable price, otherwise I'll keep throwing P'mu's at it.
  7. Does anyone know what seat belts clip would be compatible if I wanted to do that? I thought the rear ones would work as they have a flexible mount but they don't accept the front belt tounge
  8. Thanks, I ended up using some 40x3mm steel to make an extension strap which works fine, just curious what solutions others have come up with. Not sure of the legality, but should be as good as the factory installation
  9. Wanted: drivers side door card to suite r32 coupe
  10. Anyone in town mounted the drivers seatbelt buckle without the use of a seat rail (I've mounted my vela straight to the floor) I'm installing a race seat in my r32 gtr and want to still be able to run factory seatbelt on the street. Can't seem to find much info elsewhere on the forums Interested in what other people have done and how practical it is to use Cheers Greeny
  11. any ideas? surely someone has come up with something? I want to know how to mount drivers seatbelt buckle without using a seat rail as i am mounting the seat directly to the floor?
  12. Hi Question: How to mount the standard seat-belt buckle in an R32 GTR with an aftermarket seat Context: I am currently installing a fixed back seat to R32 GTR (Velo GP90) In order to gain some headroom for myself + helmet, i have opted to mount it directly to the floor using some generic side mont brackets. Issue: The standard seatbelt buckle bolts to the seat frame. I have seen many aftermarket rails with a provision for the standard buckle to bolt onto. Ideally i would like to mount the buckle to a flexible extension / strap so that it can sit up high beside the seat so its easier to use How have others mounted their standard seatbelt with similar installations? PS: i understand the standard seatbelt is not ideal wth an aftermarket seat, i am installing a 5/6 point harness. The standard seatbelt is for road use - ie: to and from the track
  13. Sorry for the double post - Kept giving me error messages Wanted R32 GTR lower control arm - front left
  14. wanted R32 GTR lower control arm - front left
  15. Wanted: R32 GTR front lower control arm - left
  16. Just ordered kit yesterday. What filter should i be using? can anyone recomend a part no.
  17. +++ R32 GTR Identity Check +++ Stock fuel pressure regulator I'm thinking i need a stock fuel pressure regulator (suit RB26) to clear ID check. Mine looks a bit gay with yellow hose and gauge, may cause undue attention Standard exhaust. Have recently fitted Cat which quietened it a bit, but its still a bit loud, contemplating fitting a quieter exhaust for the inspection. ? If not available i might chance it. Any thoughts?
  18. Tried to PM with offer, check your inbox? might be full?
  19. Interesting hypothesis for a thread, and the responses are ammusing I've been doing a fair bit of research recently when looking to buy a cheap car for a road registerred toy (weekend track days, hillclimb's or similar) I came to a similar conclusion that with a budget of say 20-30K a RWD skyline or similar cheapie (silvia, supra, rx7, VT gen3) would be comparable with the change spent on a few mods to make it track ready and a few extra ponies. So far i have found many things associated with the GTR a bit pricey... Comparing GTST upgrades to maintaining or heaven forbid - upgrading a GTR are chalk and cheese. I feel that with a competent driver and similar budgets (including inital outlay) a well sorted GTSt would certainly be competetive alongside the GTR Despite this I still chose to buy an R32 GTR for 2 reasons, I have always wanted one since the group A days, and the prospect of retaining some resale value as they are more likely to become a modern classic. Upon reflection i probably should have started with something with no power or grip (like an excel or charade) to hone my track skills as the GTR certainly covers for my lack of skill pulling out of corners on full boost / throttle easily keeping up with others on the track, but as for corner entry and mid corner pace i will continue hold up the pack until i grow some balls or develop some skill Anyway, thats my thoughts - good on ya for starting an interesting thread, too bad its become a database of poorly quoted, unrelated motorsport statistics, rather than what could have been a user friendly discussion beween realistic, likeminded enthusiests.
  20. My car is listed as a 92 model (VicRoads) I did do a little more reading of the forum last night and found a purple/pink sticker on the passenger door jam, so things are starting to look OK Need to get the car on a hoist and assess how much aftermarket gear i will have to revert to stock. The car looks fairly stock to me, exept for exhaust, BOV (very annoying), turbo timer, etc. Do ppl have any issues with oil catch systems? Anyway, Back on topic. My car appears to have a Pink/Purple sticker, however.. I read somewhere ppl having issue with an engraved VIN, rather than stamped? Can anyone shed some light?
  21. Recently bought a 2nd hand R32 GTR registerred in Victoria. Checked out RTA website and it all looks correct. There is NO compliance plate. VIN is engraved on strut tower (drivers side) Will i have issues with the ID check? What do they expect you to do if the VIN is engraved? Some more feedback from other peoples experiences would be good Cheers
