  1. I'm in QLD but at this stage I think it would probably apply Australia wide. When I tried ordering one a few months back I was advised that Nissan will only sell the GTR through dealerships which "qualify" for the GTR by having specialist trained mechanics and various other provisions in place. As no-one has any such mechanics yet, no-one yet knows who will qualify to sell the GTR. Therefor no-one knows who will get dealer rights for the GTR in Australia. Therfore no-one can take a deposit because they don't even know if they are going to be dealers or not. No doubt the larger dealerships will most probably attain dealer status, but at this stage no one does.
  2. Well, I won a meat raffle once - and not one chick threw herself at me. I therefor use that as definitive proof!!
  3. I think most people miss the point of all of the discussion regards these types of stories. The likes of ACA or TT couldn't give a shit whether the story is correct or not. This is about ratings. They don't have any over active moral standpoint on behalf of society. They saw that the rating for a story increased when they ran it. Beat it up to a frenzy. Keep repeating and embellishing as they go. Make as much mileage out of it - cause that is how they make their money. Why do you think all of those shows keep running the same old crap all of the time, over and over and over. It rates. It makes them money. This hooning thing has become their cash cow. They are not going to let it go in a hurry.
  4. I think you hit it on the head there Russ. Most of the people discussing the "rules" here in most likelyhood are not going to win this thing - just have a good time competing. At many a track session, when times are being compared, we all know who is driving a race car vs a street car. People can argue all they like but most of us know. The only problem is when either there is a prize involved, or your name goes up in lights (wherever that may be). Generally, the prize isn't a sheep station or a bajillion dollars, so it is all for ego. I myself am happy enough trying to go quick in my street car. I already know that there are faster street cars and a whole lot faster race cars out there. Others most definitely want the accolades, and there is nothing wrong with that either. At the end of the day - Someone will set rules for this thing. A lot of people won't like them - but will probably compete anyway. Most people will have a good time (and probably spend too much money). There will be a bit of whinging after it is all over. The world will not end if you lose. Winning does not make you more attractive to women. You will not be able to give up your job and live a good life on the winnings. Russ and Mark will still have a f'cken quick car.
  5. Thanks Gary - I've been questioning this one myself for a while. A fully road registered car with stereo, aircon, full interior (including back seats) and a roll cage running on semi's is NOT in my opinion a race class car. It would appear from all of the discussion that finding a solution that fits everybody is going to be tough. Hope it comes together soon.
  6. I'd have to agree with this one. The object of the exercise is a time attack - fastest car around a designated track. In order for this to be a draw card event (as Russ said earlier) you want the fastest cars in the country running a circuit for everyone to see. This thread seems to have taken the direction of "this sounds like a good event - lets see how I can fit in". Unfortunately, for a top level time attack - not a lot of us have the car or the money or the driving ability to compete. Amending the rules so we can compete will only diminish the draw of the event. A lot of what has been discussed is probably relevant to a sub event - but does it really apply to a national JDM time attack?? Something to think about
  7. Onya Russ - Kick arse buddy (Keep uploading those photos) Cheers Peter
  8. Try this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hkj76bPrsUo
  9. Col - was that you on Shaftston Avenue headed city bound today around 3:30???? Can't be too many canary yellow lines about. Too far past for a wave.. Peter
  10. You are right - need a lot longer track. Would imaging they would get up to a fairly hefty top speed on a longer track. And you are right about the noise. Someone was tuning their engine while we were there and revving it at full tit for about 30 seconds. Like a brushcutter on roids.
  11. Went out with a mate today to watch his brother competing in the World Remote Control Car Championships on Leitchs Rd Brendale. http://www.5thscaleworlds.com/. I think they are still qualifying and are heading for finals on Saturday. They are awesome cars. 1/5th scale running a 23cc petrol 2 stroke engine. These things rev to 22,000RPM and run on a purpose built tarmac track. The cars have full suspension (I mean everything, camber adj, caster adj, toe adjust, ride height adj, rebound adj, damper adj, etc) alone with carbon fibre disc brakes - cutest little brake pads you have ever seen. The cars weigh about 10kg, are about 50cm long, hit around 90-100kph and cost about $4-5000 each. If you get any time - go have a look. Very cool
  12. I run a 17" rim for track work - I suppose I should look at changing size to 18's to accommodate larger rotors? Thoughts!!
  13. Jack, If you don't mind asking - how much did you pay for the full kit?? I have been quoted about $5k for the fronts alone.
  14. Thanks Willo, I'll do just that.
  15. Same with increase ball size - reduce braking requirement
  16. Cool - brake purchase subsidy it is then
  17. Roy, Do you know if you can put the fronts on the back (Brembo)?
  18. Willo - maybe it's just you and me - a conspiracy me thinks!!!
  19. I am selling a Brand new - never used - Trust GReddy Spec R HG 302x600x115mm Intercooler. This cost me $2200-00 delivered. Sell for $1750-00. Purchased for an upgrade but never fitted. PM me or call me on 0419641071

  21. Why?? Cause they joined 23 minutes before the post
  22. At this stage am leaning heavily towards the monobloc Alcon 6 pistons. No doubt when that happens I should be able to subsidise the purchase with the Brembos. You can't put them on the back can you?? Maybe I should diet (along with the car) in the interim.
  23. How long is patient when I've been emailing since 17/7? Thats more than 6 emails in 2 months now.
