  1. Thanks for your comments Col. Came close to the new GTR - but alas no. Went for something a little more exotic. Depending on what is happening at work - I may even venture out (not for a run) to the next track day.
  2. Due to the recent purchase of a new toy - the GTR is now up for sale. Some of you may already know the car from earlier track days (Bris) This car has been my everyday driver for nearly 5 years. It has also been extremely capable on the track throughout that time. I have listed below a list (that I can remember) of mods - there are also many others such as stereo and blue tooth connection etc which are not listed. I have included a couple of pics. I am happy to send more if required. Current asking price is $50,000-00 ONO. Call me on mobile 0419641071 if interested. 4. Having gone down a similar route a while ago (I need really big brakes - then going Oh shit! they cost how much???) I spoke to a number of people (there is already a sizable thread under "Suspension, brakes and tyres") I was advised to look at the problem progressively. Generally a big brake upgrade is not always the best answer. Look at what they are to be used for - stopping from 300k's can be done with your standard Brembo's. Doing it repeatedly may require more. Brake failure in nearly all situations is due to the inability to disburse heat. Have you taken off the stone shields? Change the rotors to a full veined rotor? Change the lines to braid? Upgrade the fluid and pads? Is more ducting required? If you did all of the above (which I must say will cost you a shitload less than what you are talking about) then start looking at the bigger brakes. I would be surprised if this did not sort out most weekend warriors (such as myself). Just make sure that when you do you take into account your master cylinders as well to make up for the additional capacity.
  5. You are better off throwing your post in the "Forced Induction Forum" You will also find plenty of prior posts about the same subject. Cheers
  6. A friend contacted them for some of their race gloves - full price!! Mind you, as time progresses things may change.
  7. http://www.bammedia.com.au/news_article.asp?news_id=9036 I hear there are some cheap racing mini's and porsches on the market at the moment. I'm sure cheap is as much as they can get at the moment.
  8. Good on ya guys. So does this mean that the 34 is now going to run 8's?????
  9. Russ, Whats happening??? Any more photos at this stage?
  10. Baron, Thanks for the advice but it is all for nigh! I can't find shit. I've been to more website than I've had women (2) and can't find what I'm after. Does anyone have a comparison between a V8 supercar and a GT500 car. I'm interested to know how would they compare in a race. Take for instance Phillip Island where the V8 supercar lap record is 1.33:43. Would a GT500 car be quicker and if so, by approximately how much? Cheers
  11. Can someone either direct me to a relevant website or give me some more details on the GT500 cars currently used in the JGTC series. More specifically, what sort of top speeds are they achieving in comparison to say a V8 dupercar. I have found a fair amount of info regards engine specs, car specs etc., but after more of the pure performance figures. Thanks in advance.
  12. Currently run one in my 33 GTR. I like it. Allows for more control over the power shift. Certainly makes my front diff work a litter harder (and hotter) as I tend to have the power transfer come on quicker than standard. For want of a better word, gives you more "feel" and more controlled power slides in tight corners.
  13. Its the cold weather. You always see a heap of batteries die as soon as the temperature starts getting colder. Generally means its time for a new one. Whilst they always cycle in temperature normally, the big reductions when you come into winter is enough to push them over the top. Just means your battery is at the end of its life.
  14. This car was running at Lakeside on Tuesday when I was out there. Seemed to go OK.
  15. Didn't do any stationary 5000rpm tests - just fly-bys and the occasional take off. There were some pretty growly V8's and the likes - mine isn't exactly the quietest of cars either. None of which exceeded the readings at all.
  16. Went out for a private track day at Lakeside yesterday with about 20 other cars (M3's, Aston Martin, Porche, 6L supercharged holden ute, commodores, GTST, 200 SX, etc, etc). Gotta say the track is awesome compared to QR. No cars had any problems with the 92Db limit. My car (no side pipe) was 82Db on the drive- by (and was the loudest too by the way). Whilst there are a lot more walls and barriers around the place, it is a very rewarding track. Main straight is a blast although the "kink" can be a little unnerving at high speed. If you have never driven the track before (as was with me), I can highly recommend it. Start off gently, get a couple of sessions in and before you know it you are going twice as fast as you think you can through some sections. Hopefully they will keep it open forever, great track.
  17. Nathan, Any plans for an event in sunny QLD destined for the near future??
  18. Hey Russ, You don't need an intercooler do you?? Let me know Peter
  19. Russ, Make sure you PM me before you take it out to the track. In fact - PM me when you get it as I would love to come around and check it out.
  20. I did the Clark rubber thing as well a couple of years back - is not identical, but looks heaps better than the tatty old strip
  21. Lets face it - how many people on this forum can actually afford one
