  1. where exactly can you get the n1 pump, over here in the states its nearly impossible to track one down.
  2. kind of confuzzled on this, what exactly do you mean? like less boost for more airflow? or more airflow for less boost?
  3. hrmmmm. doesnt make much sense to buy a greddy manifold and then tear it apart and spend who knows how much more money to make it work. i think i will stick to the original plan and buy a r.i.p.s. manifold, they look the part and apparently peform very well. hrm..... as for the valve bit guess i will (when i do) put oversized valves into the rb20 head as well as other bits.
  4. question is same as post title. trying to figure out if i can bolt a greddy intake mani from a rb25 to a rb20 head.
  5. wow that looks fantastic! hrm ok so it can be done. check you pm box.
  6. has anyone used an a31 xmember from and rb20det into a s chassis car? i hear it lowers the engine about an inch and moves it back a tad, anyone confirm this?
  7. just ordered an gt30r with a .63 ar for my rb20 will post results when it all goes into the car.
  8. the emanage has a 16x16 map so i imagine that a good tune can be achieved with it. some one on this forum setup a car with a blow thru maf using a emanage, but i cant remember who.
  9. anyone running this setup? i have a greddy emanage so i should be able to tune it out, anyone with any info on how to do this please reply, searching didnt help a whole lot.
  10. i just ordered a gt30r from cheapturbo.com it is the 'right' gt30r with the 6 blade wheel and shrouded inlet. its gonna be going onto a rb20 so i got the .63 ar turbine to help it get going. i think with cams and the hks exhaust manifold i have it should do pretty well for what im looking at. 1 bar at 3500 is not bad at all, if i can get that on my rb20 i will be more than happy, seeing as i plan on running low boost around town (10psi) while high boost will be in the 17psi range.
  11. what bout some vr4 injectors or injectors from a 7mgte supra engine? for the vr4 injectors you have to bore the rail a tad for them to slip in and i believe you have to do the same for the 7m ones. you may have to run a dropping resistor pack for them, but its another alternative should you choose aftermarket injectors.
  12. i think that the greddy controlers are more suited to external gates as the auto boost funcion left something to be desired on my rb20. i think its the fact that the turbo elbow and the internal gate surges too much for it get a clean baseline.
  13. it comes from nissans vh45de, 4.5l v8. they came here stateside in the infiniti q45. not sure about over there tho.
  14. greddy profec e-01. works very well, auto boost could be better but manual mode is top notch. i also hear the profec b is very good as well.
  15. haha. yeah thats the q45 throttle body. would it be too big for the rb20 tho?
  16. hey all. was wondering what size throttle body i should use on a rips made intake manifold for my rb20? i know the stock one isnt great but what other nissans could i pull a TB off to use on it? thanks. carl
  17. wtf? doodz j0r grammaaahh is awsome. j00 couldz be some teachaz and ownz tha playa hatas who aint got no skylines. man, teeach me some mad tipz so i canz make my slyline go fastz. un hu, go to school and get an education. r34 my ass. sure you didnt read the name of your old honda wrong?
  18. .82 ar isnt that small. 17psi is quite a bit of boost, just i dont think that he had the greatest setup.
  19. hrmmm.... well i dunno then. like i said when i cranked the boost to 14psi i would get boost spikes, possibly due to the boost controler not being setup properly but i still think its due to the shoddy turbo elbow design. when my s13 was on the road i had the following setup : stock smic, 3" catback, punched cat, hks intake. i saw 10psi all the time with no spikes except on very cold nights, but even then it would only spike to 11psi. my stock tubo has a touch of shaft play, none round and round but some back and forth. as for the power bit, i suppose that since no one has really bolted one to an rb20 its all guess work for now. we'll have to see how she goes with it on there.
  20. yup yup. tail of the dragon is an awesome route to go thru and the senery is awesome, least thats what my friend said as we were blasting thru the curves. rbsileighty, your car looks almost exactly like my old car, i too had a hicas hatch and put the rb20 in it. s13's are great lil cars with the rb20 in it. as for the internal gate bit, i dont care much for the internal gate seems like it causes too many boost spikes. i had bad spiking on my rb when i would crank the boost to 14, but i think the problem lies in the turbo elbow design. when the wastegate opens up the exhaust gasses slam right into a wall, i cant imagine what kind of turbulance it causes.
  21. wow i never expected this thread to generate this much interest. rbsileighty i had considered the gt3071r over the gt30r but then thought about it some more and decided that a slighly later spool is worth more than the gt3071r had to offer. also im not looking to run crazy boost on the car right now, so if i can get 10-12psi around 3.8k then i would be just happy. looking at the hks japan website and the 3037 turbo kit for the sr it seems to really start to make power at 4k with a simmilar setup that i plan to run (260in/exhaust 8.5mm lift cams) but with a .84 ar so i think if i get a .63 ar turbine then it should spool fairly quickly but i guess we will all have to find out. as for the lag, yes it is nicer to have a fast spooling turbo but i like to have power uphigh i just cant stand a turbo that makes good power down low but runs out of puff in the high rpms. like i said before the idea of the car is to be a drift/highway car but im starting to get more into the track racing thing so having power in the high rpms would be benificial i think. here in northcarolina in the mountains there is an 11mile streach of road that has like 300 some odd turns thru the mountains i drove it when i had the rb in my s13 and it was a blast but seeing as we were never under 3.5k revs it was all about high end power. keep the info comming tho, it is educational to me as im still learning alot about sizing turbos and what goes where. right now i know the basics and having driven turbo cars since ive owned a car (saab 8v tubo was my first car, crazy torque and a blast to drive) im going from experience as well as what im learning.
  22. well quite a few factors have gone into thinking about going this route. i want a ballance of good power but not too much lag (3.8-4k max boost is tolerable). its not going to be a drag car but more of a drift/highway car. i also want to be able to make good power without having to run crazy boost as im not prepared to build up the engine internaly. this being said and the car being a daily driver i would much rather have a slighly laggier turbo that doesnt make boost crazy early (IE: gt28rs, come on it makes boost revving the engine) so it will be decent on gas but also perform when i want it to. by running that turbo i hope to have a decent power band with good overall power, just since i sit in traffic every day and its stop and go i dont need something that spools up hella quick when i dont want it to, the stock turbo did that and i found it kinda annoying in heavy trafic. i think with some 260 cams on both sides and adj. cam gears/tuning i should be able to get good response and spool from the turbo.
  23. hey all. im looking into getting an hks 3037/gt30r turbo for use on my rb20. i already have the hks cast iron manifold with a spot for the external gate so it shouldnt have any problems with this. also i plan on getting one with a .63 turbine so it should spool fairly quick, what are your thoughts on this setup? i also plan go get some tomei cams to help things along.
  24. hmmm. well, only reason im considering the front mount plenum is because the engine is in an s13 and the motor sits high as is (currently mounted using the r32 cross member and tranny mount). i do have an a31 cross member and tranny mount so perhaps that will drop the engine down enough to clear the hood and what not thus negating the need for the front mount intake. as for turbos if i wasnt going to get the hks 2530 (gt28rs) then i was going to consider the garrett gt3071r which is simmilar to the gt30r but spools much faster (1k faster). the only problem that i might have with it is that it is about the same critical dimentions as a t3/t4 hybrid but in all the searching ive done i cant find a clear answer as to if it will bolt right on to the stock manifold or i will have to have a newone fabbed up. carl
  25. hello all. im trying to gather information on parts i should get for my rb20 to get it to 350whp. this is what i have in mind so far: hks gt2530 tomei poncams and adj gears. hybrid fmic with custom piping subzero intake mani (engine is in an s13) do you think that this setup will get me to 350? i also have the greddy emanage and e-01 to tune and control boost. to keep knock and detonation at a minimum i have some 7mgte 550's as well as an aquamist 2d system. i know that you can use rb26 cams in the rb20, but what is the gain with those? any ideas are appreciated! cheers! carl
