  1. Yep, one of them is. I took a shot of the chassis code and all but I didnt post it along with several other pics here as i didnt think it would mean much to the Skyline boys Check out classiczcars.com for more pics.
  2. They use mostly orginal parts, which i was surprised, even still have drums and uni's on the rear. I never thought I could say that my Z back in Australia will be engineered beyond most of these cars. All these cars are for sale too, although they range from Y2,000,000~Y7,500,000.
  3. Finally I got around to going to RockyAuto (rockyauto.co.jp), with much thanks to one of my colleagues for offering to drive. I was like a kid in a candy store, unfortunately the cars and parts were all in very close proximity to each other which made complete inspection and good photos impossible, but it was great none the less. Finally I have had a chance to crawl over and sit in a geniuine 432, and a very nice quality RB25DE 240Z with updated trim that I can only aspire to acheive. I also had a chance to have a look around the garage which was very interesting as well. RB's and classic Datsun's, what could be better. My arm really had to be twisted to attend a mountain park where the guys where doing a magazine photo shoot as well as some on-road DVD filming for an upcoming magazine. Great day all in all.
  4. Buicks have been built in China for quite a few years now, along with some VW/Audi. USA bankruptcy is fairly different than Australian bankruptcy.
  5. The first page of a google search will show you the emissions composition for the relevant ADR standards here: www.npi.gov.au/handbooks/aedmanuals/pubs/motorvehicles.pdf
  6. The only way I see you can win your case is if you provide proof you have not exceeded emissions levels set by the ADR's your car is complied to. The reason is, you have modified the standard emissions system which is proven by the manufacturer to pass relevent emissions standards. Seeing as this is an expensive test that you will have to incur the cost of, and pod filters are widely regarded not to offer significant power gains, I would just remove it.
  7. Dont you think if GM went under (which will never happen in the near future), that Holden would follow suit? GM is a little more to Holden than just an engine supplier
  8. As you may or may not know, Autumn is a big deal in Japan with the red leaves being very special to the locals. Last night i went to a park in Toyota which highlights these and it was really quite amazing. No trip to the park is complete without stopping at a hawker stand for some octopus balls
  9. okonomiyaki is the one
  10. and they also entirely destroyed they own automotive economy because of it? Ever wonder why NZ is the poster boy for the Australian government to restrict low volume imports? As I said before, my view is that Australia has such a limited variety of interesting cars due to having such a small market, and also to protect local production. The only market in Australia keeping most of the manufacturers alive is the corporate fleet market, this is why fleet cars such as the Camry, 380, Commodore and Falcon are produced here at all. Private buyers are a small segment compared to Japan or the U.S. and to make it even less desirable for manufacturers, here the second hand market is thriving. Then think about fun cars, performance enthusiasts are even a smaller and even more insignificant fraction yet again. The come the even smaller fraction of enthusiasts who can actually afford a new sports car... So why would they bother? I find many people overestimate Australias significance in the global automotive world, which sadly for us, is not up there with the big boys due to among other things our high labour costs, remote location and small consumer market.
  11. I have heard of the DET power FC running fine on the DE loom, I havent see it first hand though.
  12. Tokyo: (still to come at a later date: Fuji, Nagoya, Toyohashi, Hamamatsu) and possibly Toyota if you enjoy looking at nothing.)
  13. Kyoto, one of my favourite Japanese cities. Photos include Kyoto station, Kiyomizudera temple, Ohara (mountain town with Onsen guesthouse we stayed at), Kinkakuji Golden temple, Sanjusangendo temple and more
  14. Bit of trivia but it is Japan's busiest, but not the largest. Out of curiosity, since youre living in Tokyo, which district do you prefer, especially in the evenings? Last month I spent the weekend based in Shinjuku but was disapointed, I found I preferred Shibuya.
  15. I took a bunch of photos friday night which painted a nice story/timeline so I thought I would share as it is yet another side of Japan; I went out to dinner on friday with a bunch of work mates (and one of their English coaches) as it was my last day in that office ( I had just moved there for 2 weeks work). They wanted me to try this style of Japanese food, I cant remember the name, someone here will know. Anyways it was more fun to prepare then to actually eat, but it was all a laugh and we all drank a fair bit. For some reason that escapes me now, after 3 hours worth of beer I thought a small, followed by a larger bottle of Sake was a good idea. It get a little blurry in my memory from there on in but my camera tells me the night continued on to a karaoke bar (I never sing, but apparently last night I did), family-mart for supplies and then back to my apartment to drink more. Judging by the cans and bottles everywhere in the morning, I'd say it was a late one. This is all well and good but I wasnt thanking myself at 7am when I had to get up to be relocated back to Aichi. 16. Its not really a well kept secret they are essentially the same car: http://www.drive.com.au/editorial/article.aspx?id=10431&vf=1 I didnt realise they were rebadging the V6, but they even admit in the article it is the same platform anyway. Different Commodores have different hanging panels as well, but they are still Commodores. <--- I may or may not know first hand as well.
  17. Quick simple question, didnt want to cramp this thread but wasnt sure where to ask: Are these these RB25DET transmission supports suitable for the RB30 block? If so, can I pull them off any RB30 powered car at the wreckers? I seem to be missing them.
  18. I'd say there will be a V6 premium as always. Might have a different badge. That supercharged Camry will never see production. Australia doesn't see many variants as the Australian car market is too small. Selling a car in competition with a locally produced model would be stupid as well. The sportiest Toyota at the moment in my opinion is the turbo Caldina.
  19. Just some more everyday life photos since I accidently double posted my above reply and couldnt work out how to delete it Photos are my new apartment for my 2 week transfer to Kosai-city, Shizuoka-ken, including my cool PIN code entry front door. There is the big Hamanako lake behind my office, and also the cinemas I went to over the weekend in Hamamatsu-city. Can we get caramel popcorn in Australia? I dont even like popcorn yet I am in love with that stuff There are bunch of cool cars in my office car park here, 350Z, RX8, EVO, Stagea and a new Civic Type R that I am finding myself strangely attracted to. I want to take a few photos but at the sametime I dont want to be the idiot foreigner taking photos of people cars in my office car park  I also threw in a photo of Nagoya Centrair airport runway and a bunch of hippies at Okazaki station for good measure.
  20. It really depends what you are shopping for, but yes, I think it's mainly a tourist trap. PS. Those girls were just some advertising promotion.
  21. MOS burger: (My lazy Sunday lunch)
  22. Photos of Aichi Expo and me trying to learn to cook
  23. Some candid snaps at Akihabara
  24. With my Dell, the equivalent Japanese power cord did had the ground socket at the adapter end, but only a 2 pin power plug end, effectively the ground went nowhere. For other people who have come over we have just chopped off the 3 pin Australian plug and replaced the a 2 pin Japanese plug from an Australian electronics store. Works fine.
  25. A few pics of a Yakiniku place guys from work took me. Pretty crazy, walk in, get hand cuffed by a cute girl and led into your cell. Food is passed in though the bars
