Id rather have the HSV Astra VXR. I took one for a spin not too long ago. The thing is frkn awesome. Its a bit of a handful off the line when boost comes in though.

Yeah, the VW's are pretty good on the juice. I drive the Jetta pretty much every day and most of the time it gets driven fairly hard, but it still returns about 550-600 k's a tank. Now that's pretty good. I'm not sure what the Passat is like, given that the car is a bit bigger and the engine is a bit smaller, but I'd say its still good. In saying all this, I still reckon that the GTR is the way to go. For most of us here, its pretty much the ultimate car and we probably wouldn't think of much else, but I guess you will get that from a Skyline forum. It all just depends on what you want the car for dude.

Im sure I have seen them go for around 30-35K. I guess it depends on how far you are willing to strech the budget.

If your looking for a small - medium sized luxury car, have a look at the VW Jetta 2.0 FSI (same turbo engine as the Golf GTI). It heaps better and sh!t loads more fun to drive than the Euro. The DSG gearbox is awsome - super quick changes and it has a 3000rpm stall in its sports mode. My old man got one recently over the Euro and hasn't looked back. He now laughs at the thought that he nearly bought a Euro.

Well if he is only young and he's after an NA, then he sounds like a pretty smart kid. He will gain valuable experience in a lower powered car while having a bit of fun and not getting into too much trouble. Then in a few years down the track, when he is ready, he can sell the car and buy a GTR because he wouldn't have spent most of his money on mods.

Spotted a black Lamborghini Gallardo on Mt Alexander rd at about 8:00 this morning while stuck in traffic. Very, very nice.

Ah dude, stock for stock, an S2000 will kick a GTST's ass. Also think that you would have no chance in hell up against an NSX. Both these cars are VTEC. Great argument mate

I guess that's gotta be telling you something. When I was hunting around for prices, they all pretty much said the samething. Who was I to argue with an exhaust shop owner. Suppose they kinda know what they are on about. Either way, it will be better than stock!

I got a 2.25" exhaust system. The guy at the exhaust shop told me that 2.5" would be a bit too big and isn't really required for a NA. He also said that I would gain a bit more in the mid to top end by going 2.25" and that the engine wouldn't labour as much going up hills and having a full car of people. It works very well and I'm really happy with the setup. Cheers!
