  3. by any other 2 door variant are you referring to different models of R34 or are you also interested in R33?
  4. really depends on if you intend on keeping it and what type of mods you've done to your current car. if you have cosmetics, sound system, suspension, etc. do you really want to be buying them all again (at retail price) for your new car? the 'sell your NA and buy a turbo' doesn't apply as strongly as it used to due to the fact that so many of the R33 GTSt's have been thrashed like no tomorrow. so many of them have done 150K km plus, and once you factor in the fact they might have been wound back you're sitting on an old engine that's been driven like it was brand new. on the other hand you've got an 84K km car (and lets also assume that it's been wound back) - it really hasn't had that much of a bad life. R34 GTt's on the other hand are newer and thus if selling your car you would want to maximise the amount you can sell your car for (i would opt for option 2) couple of options: 1. sell your car, buy new car, mod new car 2. strip your car to stock, sell bits, buy new car, mod new car or transfer any possible old bits to new car 3. turbo current car, leave mods as is. depending on how much you want an R33 or an R34 will decide which ones you go for. option 1 will maximise your losses in both selling your car and purchasing new mods at retail option 2 will minimise your losses in selling the car and modding as well as maximising your gains in selling off your mods option 3 will incur some loss in the mods you add (i.e. turbo kit, rims, etc) as well as general depreciation when you do decide to sell your R33 GTS+t however you think about it, if you do decide to sell the R33 GTS+t or the R34 GTt (either one of which you will end up with at the end) you will have to go through the whole process of selling again and you will not make the money back from whatever you do. so to clarify: R34GTt - make a loss on your original R33 when you sold it and make a loss on your R34 when you sell it R33 - make a loss + loss on your turbo conversion you'll have to weigh it up mate and decide which will leave you financially better. if money is no objection then go for whatever you like best!
  5. a gutted cat, flames and all that carry a maximum of $10,000 fine. not only is it a highly illegal 'mod', it's also extremely damaging to the environment one of those things you don't bother doing - especially if high flow cats are <$200
  6. hello captain obvious... don't you think everyone knows that? you don't think an N/A will ever be worth more than a turbo, but as an 'economy expert' you should know that the turbo models are equally being sold for the same price and quite often a lot less. however i am quite intrigued as to why you feel that an N/A will never be worth more than a turbo, is it due to its worth in equipment? i.e. turbo, brakes, etc. or due to it's demand? your argument isn't consistent and to me it is you that is funny. simple facts are that the p-platers' are simply low-balling in hopes of getting a bargain, the problem is that it's not just one guy doing it they are all doing it. this is primarily sparked by people desperate to sell (regardless of condition) and taking the first offer of cash coming their way. it's not so much that they aren't prepared to pay the asking price because of worth, but because they know someone else who got it for that price. i.e. Mr. A has a massive credit card debt from modding his skyline, plus the fact that the poor economy isn't helping with his fuel bills. So in desperate attempts he tries to sell his car for 12K, nothing, 10K, nothing, 8K nothing. Mr. P-Plate offers a genuine 5K and Mr. A takes it. Mr. P-Plate tells his mates, then his mates go around looking for other people like Mr. A who are desperate to offload and before you know it everyone who's looking to buy is offering no more than 5K because his cousin's brother's retarded boyfriend got a skyline for 5K. however we are not all that desperate to offload. so it's not that the sellers are expecting too much, but more so the fact that the buyers are expecting far below due to another experience. last note: if you're going to come in here and preach expertise, at least learn to spell a bit and i'll take you a little more seriously.

  8. dunno about thickness of the pipe, but the diameter (which i'm guessing is what you are referring to possibly?) is 2.5" be warned though, it sounds like ass. you would ideally want a solid metal to drone out the rapsy'ness

  10. while there is a massive demand for them right now you are right they can't afford it. however p platers have previously bought skylines up to 20k so there's no reason why not. i'm afraid they are simply the new s13
  11. combination of reasons 1. doing a PhD 2. no time to fully enjoy the car (i've done 50,000km in 5/6 years) 3. no motivation to build a motor for it and i'm craving a lot more power 4. property not too phased if i get rid of it or not, selling means i can fast track #4.

  13. i know it's a pain in the arse, everyone thinks they can force the seller into a bargain. i've been thinking of selling lately, i know i'll never get the worth of my mods back - however i still dream that someone will give me 16-17K, even at that price half is mods half is car.

  15. mate, if you read the thread and didn't understand it then i suggest you go searching around google and build your knowledge on cars and the terminology. most of the stuff here has been repeated and is fairly basic. it sounds like you are lacking the fundamentals so try sites like "how stuff works" etc.
  16. i agree with Alan (scathing) that has to be up there with the stupidest comments i've ever heard. if you want to go fast legally, improve your driver skill. i can match some gtst (and a few gtr) times around QR with purely suspension work and a bit of practice.
  17. thanks for the reference vik. have a good read of that thread tyson. there is no ONE PART to enhance performance. handling mods will make you go faster, it just seems like you are chasing a number. i'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

  22. yeah, NA RBs are really a motor for people who've got a bit of coin to spend. so much more power and cost efficient to just turbo, thus the NA side of things never really developed. hardly any R&D and what not. RB24DE would be damn awesome though, or even an RB26DE!! i've heard an L28 with injectors directly spraying into the trumpets - gave me goosebumps!
