hi guys

as far as i know they are still not legal as they are non adjustable!!! Wierd cause an r34 GTR head lights are adjustable yet you still have to take them off to get them complianced another contradiction in QLD Transport rulings.

cheers

they need to be self leveling and have washers to be compliant, interior adjuster for load is not enough,if 34`s had same set up as honda, bmw, volvo etc ...self leveling device in boot and h/light washers they would comply.Thats ADR rules.. nothing to do with qld transport really, not sure if they would know difference between self leveling and non adjustable though once the car is registered: :(

can someone explain to me what self leveling n have washers mean??

does it mean the bulbs move as the car goes up or down a hill. n also the bulbs wash themselves? wtf?

if you ever noticed oncoming bmw etc you will see xenon h/lights "changing colour" type thing as they approach...this is lamp adjusting to roadsurface ..leveling,

the washers are the same as windscreen washers but mounted in bar and face the h/lights for cleaning

ahh ok, but y do HID need the washers and normal lights dont?

Correct me if i'm wrong but this was what i was told, when headlamps equipped with HID are dirty they do not give out as much light hence poorer visibility, compared to normal halogens.

humm thats not really correct.. the plastic lens / glass gets discoloured because people use high temperature globes / cheap hid's that dont have UV cut in them.. hense the discolouration... you can polish 80% of it out using meguires plastic X polish and cleaner.or brasso if you have the time.. . i have hid in my 33 both of them gtr n gtst .. ones 6500K the other is 8000K have been pulled over many times but they never mentioned the light ,im not saying they are legal.. depends on cops decresion

thx for all reply and suggestion! as you guys already know that the HID is very bright light specially at the night (skyline + HID = eyes catcher ), so I have a little bit worries after I put the HID in my car, the cops will always say "hi" to me on the road.... :(

We sell GE HIDs to many companies and have never had a problem with Legality.

Officially, ADR requires Auto leveling and headlamp washers fitted for HIDs.

Auto leveling adjusts the level of headlight depending on number of passengers (as passengers at the back lifts the front of the car). They do not level as the car drives along. They reason why BMWs change colour is due to the projector they use. (its like a rainbow effect, light coming from the side of the projector has the shortest wave length hence blue)

Washers are used to keep headlight free from ice. As you can imaging, snow and ice and reflect alot of light and this can cause HIDs to be "glary".

ADRs regarding HIDs are copied directly from the european ECE 37 regulations. In Europe, some counties do have lots of snow and hence the washers, however, they are useless in most parts of Australia.

In US and JAP, HIDs don't need to be self leveling or washers. However, this is soon to change.

    • You Gregged a whole racetrack!?
    • Look for broken wire or bad connector at the motor. Might not be it, but is worth starting there, as it is easy.
    • Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my R32 GT-R. Sometimes, when the car goes over a bump or experiences some vibration, the 4WD warning light comes on the dashboard. When I check the code from the control unit in the trunk, it shows Code 19 – ETS Motor. However, everything seems to be working fine — if I turn off the engine and restart the car, the light goes away and everything functions normally. Has anyone experienced this before? Where should I start troubleshooting this issue? Thanks in advance!
    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
