Damn those ferraris.

And damn JPM for taking a much faster Coulthard out of the race.

And damn Honda for their crappy engines.

At least Villeneuve finshed this time.

And Webber had another consistent drive.

Not too happy about the next Grand Prix coverage being delayed by bloody Wimbeldon. I know which one I'd prefer to watch.

Was anyone else holding their breath when the two Ferraris came to the finish line? hehe :D Thank god they let Rubens win, as the commentator said, it was the best PR exercise they could have done. And how happy did Rubens look!! Good on him.

Montoya/Coultard thing was a bit to blame from both sides, disappointing that Juan got another DNF.

Pity MS didn't do any damage to his car when he spun off :P

hahaha shell .. juan is a moron!!! he proved it yesterday!!.. its one thing to do a fast lap here and there.. but qualifying isnt a race.. and means nothing at the end of the day..

he is an absolute moron.. it was so obvious he was so much slower then m.s and he came awefully close to takikng him out in the first couple of laps.. stupid thing to do at the beggining of the race dont u think?? and then coulthard who was also quite a fair bit quicker.. he finally caused an accident and took him out.. stupid stupid man.. again another DNF for him...

the boy needs to get his act together seriously.. i know he's got a couple fans here.. but doing a couple of flashy overtaking manoever's and maybe a finish here and there isnt my idea of a great driver.. he is taking too many ppl out of races..

COME HERE!

*SLAP!!*

(ur not enjoying that are you?? :( )

:D :D

you can't put all the blame on JPM with the Coultard thing! He wasn't trying to block him or not let him overtake, as he said, his tyres let go which he wasn't expecting, he didn't purposely try to run Coultard off the road! Maybe Coultard should have waited and overtaken somewhere a bit better!

But anyway...great to see Kimmi in third place!! :(

(I forgot to say that before hehe)

hahah shell he didnt wanna loose the position.. he was a fair bit slower.. and it was obvious coulthard was quicker..its not worth risking a DNF in my opinion for a place ure gonna loose anwyay..

maybe if it was the last couple of laps or whatever.. fair enough not all his fault.. but an unacceptable risk! which he shouldnt have taken at that point in time.. hence the major reason why i cant stand the prick :(

and shell u can bitch slap me anytime :D.. dont forget.. next time ull be seeing me .. its gonna be my bday :D

God I hate it when you are RIGHT paul,,,,Juan drove like an idiot,,,he had both right-side tyres on the ripple strip,,,what did he think was going to happen. Coulthard was very pissed off with him ah....

At least something good came out of that race,,,,,Rubins WON!!!!!,,,Schu 1st loser.

neil thank u for having the maturity to at least see the sense of it.. most ppl who know about racing will agree "what was he thinking", though schumacher is guilty of such thing on more than one occasion as well!!... the thing that pisses me off the most.. is when ppl think that there fav driver is never at fault..argghh!!

but yeah i agree.. i really wanted rubens to win.. seems like an honest good hearted bloke.. a pretty rare quality these days..

though i believe he should have been told to move over..rubens is number 2.. and shumacher hasnt won the championship yet.. by ferrari not telling him to move over.. there admiting that it wasnt right to do it in the first place..

Ok, this is what I think of the race:

1. Looking at the camera shot when Montoya went over the strip, the front end went down first (under braking maybe), causing all the weight of the car to tip over forward. This caused the back end of the car to slide out as he was negotiating a right hander and taking Coulthard out in the process.

2. Bridgestone clearly have the advantage. Michelin are turning into slicks too quickly. Yes it does provide more grip, but only for a short period of time before they go. Did anyone see the tyres of Raikkonen after his pit stop? They were totally worn out.

3. I think Schuey could've beaten Rubens. After all, didn't he help design the circuit? Maybe for political reasons Ferrari chose not to overtake?

4. I think Coulthard should cool down a little. His antics after the accident make him look unprofessional. And that's coming from a Mclarens fanatic!

5. For Christ sake!!! Yoong is not a driver!!! He's just money!!! Webber doesn't even have to try to out qualify/race him. Give Ryan Briscoe a drive and he'll even out pace Yoong anyday!!!

LOL was that directed at me?? :(

i never said Juan wasn't at fault...I said it there was fault on both sides. Even the commentators said the same thing, that it had to be put down as a "racing incident" due to mistakes from both of them.

And yes, Juan has done some stupid things, especially in his first year last year, I'll admit that! i definately don't think he is an angel who can do no wrong.

hehe yep, next time I see you will be your birthday...I've got just the pressie...how does a trendy BMW Williams cap grab ya? Or an "I love Juan" t-shirt?

hahaha nah shell it wasnt directed at u at all :P!!!.. just one of my major pet hates!!! :D

and u can get me a williams hat shell.. im actually quite a big fan of williams mansell and prost are some of my fav ever drivers.. and u know i also go for ralph!! :)

and shell i wouldnt listen to a thing those idiotic commentators say.. what morons.. all they ever do is sit through the race and make idiotic comments.. at least murray was funny when he make his silly's.. but these guys are just dumbasses!!.. id like to see allan jones and dazza comment.. at least allan jones usually tells it like it is!!..

silver arrows.. each tyre has there advantages.. but i dont think the bridgestones are the defining factor, and we all know that the williams are VERY hard on tyres.. michael too had slicks at the time of his pit stop and we all know yoong is there due to sponshorship.. ud be surpirised at how many other guys are also in teams due to the sponsors they bring!!.. schuey's first ever drive too was basically cause jordon needed the money!! eddie jordan even said so himself in many interviews!..

oh and btw... i think coulthards antics arnt that uncalled for.. it seems more than a couple of drivers are getting peaved with montoya's stupidity.. im surprised he stayed as calm as he did.. he was finally having a half decent race :)

    • Power is fed to the ECU when the ignition switch is switched to IGN, at terminal 58. That same wire also connects to the ECCS relay to provide both the coil power and the contact side. When the ECU sees power at 58 it switches 16 to earth, which pulls the ECCS relay on, which feeds main power into the ECU and also to a bunch of other things. None of this is directly involved in the fuel pump - it just has to happen first. The ECU will pull terminal 18 to earth when it wants the fuel pump to run. This allows the fuel pump relay to pull in, which switches power on into the rest of the fuel pump control equipment. The fuel pump control regulator is controlled from terminal 104 on the ECU and is switched high or low depending on whether the ECU thinks the pump needs to run high or low. (I don't know which way around that is, and it really doesn't matter right now). The fuel pump control reg is really just a resistor that controls how the power through the pump goes to earth. Either straight to earth, or via the resistor. This part doesn't matter much to us today. The power to the fuel pump relay comes from one of the switched wires from the IGN switch and fusebox that is not shown off to the left of this page. That power runs the fuel pump relay coil and a number of other engine peripherals. Those peripherals don't really matter. All that matters is that there should be power available at the relay when the key is in the right position. At least - I think it's switched. If it's not switched, then power will be there all the time. Either way, if you don't have power there when you need it (ie, key on) then it won't work. The input-output switching side of the relay gains its power from a line similar (but not the same as) the one that feeds the ECU. SO I presume that is switched. Again, if there is not power there when you need it, then you have to look upstream. And... the upshot of all that? There is no "ground" at the fuel pump relay. Where you say: and say that pin 1 Black/Pink is ground, that is not true. The ECU trigger is AF73, is black/pink, and is the "ground". When the ECU says it is. The Blue/White wire is the "constant" 12V to power the relay's coil. And when I say "constant", I mean it may well only be on when the key is on. As I said above. So, when the ECU says not to be running the pump (which is any time after about 3s of switching on, with no crank signal or engine speed yet), then you should see 12V at both 1 and 2. Because the 12V will be all the way up to the ECU terminal 18, waiting to be switched to ground. When the ECU switches the fuel pump on, then AF73 should go to ~0V, having been switched to ground and the voltage drop now occurring over the relay coil. 3 & 5 are easy. 5 is the other "constant" 12V, that may or may not be constant but will very much want to be there when the key is on. Same as above. 3 goes to the pump. There should never be 12V visible at 3 unless the relay is pulled in. As to where the immobiliser might have been spliced into all this.... It will either have to be on wire AF70 or AF71, whichever is most accessible near the alarm. Given that all those wires run from the engine bay fusebox or the ECU, via the driver's area to the rear of the car, it could really be either. AF70 will be the same colour from the appropriate fuse all the way to the pump. If it has been cut and is dangling, you should be able to see that  in that area somewhere. Same with AF71.   You really should be able to force the pump to run. Just jump 12V onto AF72 and it should go. That will prove that the pump itself is willing to go along with you when you sort out the upstream. You really should be able to force the fuel pump relay on. Just short AF73 to earth when the key is on. If the pump runs, then the relay is fine, and all the power up to both inputs on the relay is fine. If it doesn't run (and given that you checked the relay itself actually works) then one or both of AF70 and AF71 are not bringing power to the game.
    • @PranK can you elaborate further on the Colorlock Dye? The website has a lot of options. I'm sure you've done all the research. I have old genuine leather seats that I have bought various refurbing creams and such, but never a dye. Any info on how long it lasts? Does it wash out? Is it a hassle? What product do I actually need? Am I just buying this kit and following the steps the page advises or something else? https://www.colourlockaustralia.com.au/colourlock-leather-repair-kit-dye.html
    • These going to fit over the big brakes? I'd be reeeeeeeeaaaall hesitant to believe so.
    • The leather work properly stunned me. Again, I am thankful that the leather was in such good condition. I'm not sure what the indent is at the top of the passenger seat. Like somebody was sitting in it with a golf ball between their shoulders. The wheels are more grey than silver now and missing a lot of gloss.  Here's one with nice silver wheels.
    • It's amazing how well the works on the leather seats. Looks mint. Looking forward to see how you go with the wheels. They do suit the car! Gutter rash is easy to fix, but I'm curious about getting the colour done.
