Ok so at the moment i only have the GTR fuel pump and its making a few unhealthy noises

Car in question is a R32 GTST with a TD 06 and a few other mods.

So its got me thinking to what im going to do.

Im toying with the idea with a swirl pot and different fuel cell but then its just a road car so dont really need to go that far.

Do i just buy:

new pump like a 040

change to an external pump set up with a 044

fuel pressure regulator/rising rate regulator

new fuel rail.

Any comments or ideas to point me in the right direction are much appreciated.

Cheers B

just a intank bosch will suffice for a road car

so just go the 040 you recon.

I get out to the track but not as much as i like these days cause of work.

Im running about 1.3bar at the moment and waiting to do a few other mods and get Dr Drift to do the tune to see what power we can get out of it.

But want to make sure that the fuel system will manage and also do away with the extra injector set up.

Cheers B

yeah i reckon, if you havent had surge problems in the past, bosch intank (mounted correctly)

Should be perfect

no surge problems that have been fuel related as far as i know.

Would you suggest on replacing the lines as well or just give them a good flush?

Cheers for the help R31Nismoid.

I'll have a look in the sponsors section to see if i can find one :D

Can anyone shed some light on how to effectively mount a Bosch 040 into a R34GTT?

I've got one in there at the moment, but after going for a test run last night there was some surging. Problem is that the stock pump uses a "sock" which WILL NOT go onto the 040 due to size differences.

Sorry to rob the thread but yes, any help is good.

Oh forgot to add that the surge effect was experienced going at 80km/hr up hill through a sweeping left turn. Fuel tank was at the half way mark if that is any indication.

If anyone can shed some light, or even direct me to somewhere that shows exactly how to fit the fuel suction thing (fabricated I assume) I'll be most appreciative :D

i used stock fuel lines on my 25/270rwkw :D

should be arite i'd imagine  :P

SHould be fine then with a full flush

HA HA HA

that was my next question, is it a good idea to run the fuel sock and how do you mount it "correctly"

i think it quietens them down more than anything else.

My crap - useless - piece of junk walbro came with its own one.

not required though.

surge sometimes is a few things stan

could be a pump in not-so-good

pump not mounted not-so-good

I cant say i ever had surge (HR31 tank) unless i had 1/3 or less :D

1/2 a tank and surge is more likely one of the "not so goods" :P

Cool

well i'll throw it on for good measure.

They are pretty straight forward to mount i take it, do i have to take the tank out of the R32 or is there allocation made with a panel to get access???

I've got a similar fuel problem which was happening 2 weeks a go at Eastern Creek and I hope you guys could help with as I'm not sure if it surging or fuel rate problem.

When doing a sharp right hand turn (turn 9) with a third of a tank left coming out of the corner I would get no power and the car would misfiring.

When I filled the tank up again it went away. I have and 270rwkw r33 gtst with a bosch 040 fuel pump and 555cc injectors.

Do I need a surge tank or fuel regulator? Any help much appreciated.

So what's the trick? Should I extend the intake hose that we've fabricated? Or simply lower the pump further into the tank?

Option 1 will be easier...

I would've thought that less surging would occur if the pump was lower into the tank???

This happens all the time, usually because the pump is mounted too high and has no extension of the pick up point towards the bottom of the tank. The best way is to duplicate the standard pump location and pick up point EXACTLY. Nissan obviously spent a lot of time researching the best pick up location for the fuel tank shape, best to copy what they have done.

My local AutoOne, AutoPro, AutoBarn, Repco, SupaCheap etc has a pile of fuel fittings, hoses and adaptors. I just take the 2 pumps in there and mix and match bits until I get what I want.

:P cheers :)

Thanks SK...

Well my mate is playing around with it today; I'll see what he comes up with, apparently got some fancy hose from Enzed and says it'll do the job :P

If not, I guess we're going to mix n' match!

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
