Well about to spend my hard earned cash on a cooler for my car... and im wondering EXACTLY was the benefits of a cooler are on a R32..... apart from cooling the air and etc.. how much power would i expect to gain, better fuel economy... ive got no idea?!

Also the cooler and piping kit that ill buy from just jap is it 100% possible to install in my car? no major holes or parts to be cut?

Thanks

Ed

your goin to have to drill out a 2.5" hole under your battery tray so that u can run the intercooler piping. once this is done it will be required to be engieenered. plus you are goin to have to cut out your front bar etc. a bit of mucking around. but my next car i will probably use a ARC cooler as they use the existing stock cooler piping.

a search would have told you that it removes heat charge from the intake. the compression or 'boost' you dial in makes the intake charger hotter. more compression is more heat, the more heat means less bang, which results in less power. if you can take away %30 of the heat then its more power to the rear. if air comes out of the compressor outlet at 65deg then after the intercooler it comes out at 35deg then thats a fairly good temp drop, which will result in more power, than pushing 65deg temp air into the engine

On a stock rb20det an intercooler will do very little if anything.

You may find it actually feels a little less snappy and slightly less responsive as the turbo now has to fill the FMIC and piping.

Stock rb20det is the usual exhaust with 12psi.

Larger IC's are there to simply keep the inlet charge temp down and allow high airflow levels.

The std sized IC will keep it down for a little until it becomes heat soaked, it will also become a restriction once you begin dialing up the boost.

hrmm... RB25DET Turbo could be had for that sort of money if not a little less $400-$450.

You will need an FMIC, push 14psi, have it rechipped to suit and it will be pushing 190rwkw with the injectors running on the edge.

Then look at a set of GTR injectors, grab an R30 Skyline resistor pack, wire it in, sell the rb25det turbo, buy gt2530 and dial in 18psi, have it rechipped and enjoy 220-230rwkw but with MUCH more mid range.

Then if you wanted to go furthur and still enjoy it on the street your best bet is to look at the rb25 or 26.

    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
