R32 Gtr With Baby Seat Question

Hi all

Tried to do a search here and on the net with no luck.

I have read that a baby seat would fit in the rear seat of the GTR's but havent had the chance to try one or see one in the flesh.

Im hoping some of you guys are married with kids and hopefully still have the GTR :)

my questions...

1. how much room do you have in the back

2. most importantly, do you have pics?

I need to fit a baby seat for my 8 week old and a booster seat for my 4yo.

Im hoping there will be enough room so I can stop the questions from the mrs about why a GTR and how the hell will we all fit :unsure:

Ok, you're going to run into a few issues...

1. At 8 weeks old, you'll obviously be running the capsule facing backwards. Avoid dramas by buying/hiring a dedicated capsule, NOT a reversible baby seat. They take up a heap less room. They WILL fit, but your other half won't be happy, as it will have to go behind the passenger seat, which will need to be slid as far forward as it can go. Once the baby is old enough to face forward, there's more room for everyone.

2. The seats are quite contoured, so make sure that the seat fits in properly and sits square on the seat (cheaper to get a new seat than a different car ;) ) Safety is one obvious problem, but the base of the baby seat can leave quite bad marks in the GT-R trim too - they come out eventually, but its just annoying.

3. I never ran a capsule facing backwards, but I ran baby seats in an R32 and R33 and found the R33 much easier to live with, in terms of space and ease of entry. R32 owners feel free to correct me if you disagree...

Anyway, the prices of early R33 GT-Rs are quite low these days, so it might be worth considering unless you have your heart set on an R32. Either way, be prepared for doing your back in putting the kids in the rear.

one positive i can take out from your comments is the mrs is not as tall as me so when she drives, her seat is pretty much the closest to the wheel it can go.

So i dont think ill have a prob putting a baby seat behind the passenger's seat :rolleyes:

just means ill have to drive most of the time ;) or move the seat on the other when she wants to drive :)

R33 would be a option only if R32 is a complete no go :(

absolutely no room.

kids would be comfy but passengers in the front forget about.

unless of course you like the smell of your own feet go for it.

honestly go for an R33 heaps more room.

or your next option go a stagea...lol....

this sounds like a problem for the stagea!

i take my 3 year old in mine sometimes (r32 gtr) and although she is fairly comfy in her imatation saas booster, I am limited to the size of the passenger and cabin contents ... i am seperated so the passenger size changes quite often and its a hassel big time :(.

The thing is kids can kill theses cars real quick if your not a nazzi and no one likes to be like that .. they cant help it the little ones, its not there fault

Also being their 2 doors theres many headaches if its used as family car.

your doors ,sills, interior get constantly bashed putting them in and out

you get kicked accidently in the back because they havent got any leg room (a 3 year old girl is pretty small) ,

they have limited windows to see out of so they play up ,or mine and her little friends do ....

try all going to the supermarket then to maccas then to the park and then visiting friends ... :w00t:

I got that fed up i simply went out and got a vl wagon for any family stuff and only put her in the R on special occasions ...

An infant capsuale in a gtr.... narh! you can do it but you dont want to ! mate ....

      Yeah well per the video it took 15s for the stock unit to start up....even if I give it a few seconds discount for starting that is at least 12 sec before you get a reverse camera if you are trying to leave a park.  The android unit is way faster, but 2016 for the stock unit is a long time ago in consumer electronics

      Next on the to-do list was an oil and filter change. Nothing exciting to add here except the oil filter is in a really stupid place (facing the engine mount/subframe/steering rack). GReddy do a relocation kit which puts it towards the gearbox, I would have preferred towards the front but there's obviously a lot more stuff there. Something I'll have to look at for the next service perhaps. First time using Valvoline oil, although I can't see it being any different to most other brands Nice... The oil filter location... At least the subframe wont rust any time soon I picked up a genuine fuel filter, this is part of the fuel pump assembly inside the fuel tank. Access can be found underneath the rear seat, you'll see this triangular cover Remove the 3x plastic 10mm nuts and lift the cover up, pushing the rubber grommet through The yellow fuel line clips push out in opposite directions, remove these completely. The two moulded fuel lines can now pull upwards to disconnect, along with the wire electrical plug. There's 8x 8mm bolts that secure the black retaining ring. The fuel pump assembly is now ready to lift out. Be mindful of the fuel hose on the side, the hose clamp on mine was catching the hose preventing it from lifting up The fuel pump/filter has an upper and lower section held on by 4 pressure clips. These did take a little bit of force, it sounded like the plastic tabs were going to break but they didn't (don't worry!) The lower section helps mount the fuel pump, there's a circular rubber gasket/grommet/seal thing on the bottom where the sock is. Undo the hose clip on the short fuel hose on the side to disconnect it from the 3 way distribution pipe to be able to lift the upper half away. Don't forget to unplug the fuel pump too! There's a few rubber O rings that will need transferring to the new filter housing, I show these in the video at the bottom of this write up. Reassembly is the reverse Here's a photo of the new filter installed, you'll be able to see where the tabs are more clearing against the yellow OEM plastic Once the assembly is re-installed, I turned the engine over a few times to help build up fuel pressure. I did panic when the car stopped turning over but I could hear the fuel pump making a noise. It eventually started and has been fine since.
