ok, anyway after some months with my engine out of my gtr, its time to re install..

now, ive searched and searched for the best and most efficient way to do this, with no luck finding anything, i need some assistance

we have looked, and cant decide, wether it will be easier to remove one driveshaft? both drivshafts or none?

we had a trial run, but were pretty sure we cant get the drivers side driveshaft in, and the clutch lined up with the pass driveshaft as they clash when trying to line up the 2 splines.

any advice will be much appreciated and or tips, but please, i want to know definate ways, not just , well i think it will be easier because in my mind it would work that way, i want people to reply who have put the engine back in etc

She will go in the same way you took it out !! I usualy take engine + box out as one unit and put them back in the same way .

I dont understand what you on about driveshafts, the pass you undo the 6 bolts an dleave it there . The drivers side you either have to pull out or drop the lower control arm and slide it out so you can lift the donk out . Put it back the same way as you took it out dude as simple as that . I usualy assemble everything on the engine before i put it in .The air cond pump and power steer pump i tie on the car on the pass side and leave them there .

If you still have the box on the car you will have to drop the box mount down so u can do up the top bolts just like you did to undo them . As for the clutch you have to make sure you line it up with either a tool or an old input shaft ! If its not lined up well you wont be able to bolt it on .

hrmm, thats what i suspected, but it just doesnt seem to be working ...

we didnt need to pull box out, so we didnt.

this is on r32 not sure if it would make much diff between 33,34...

we will give it another go tomorow nite, the clutch was lined up using tools. however, not sure if spline is 100% correct but nothing that cant be wriggled into it

You are going to have to undo the box so you can twist it around , thats why i take out engine box together , some people just drop the box under the car, i find it easier to take out engine box together , each to their own . 32 , 33 +34 all the same, i've done them all .

ahh ok kool. well the problem with just leaving box out is that were doing this on a driveway due to lack of work space in garage.so we have to be able to push car in/out as need be.

we will prolly be doing it this arvo/night provided the rain stays away. but thanks for your assistance

Its not easy on the floor, if you had a hoist would be much easier . You may have to jack the car up on stands as high as you can unbolt the box and sit it on a jack ( you may have to chain it on to the jack ) .Drop the donk in place and do up the 14 mm nuts on the engine mounts then try to bring the box up to the engine, it maybe better to put something under the front of the engine sump so the engine leans back as much as possible that should make life easier for you .

Now you can see why i take out engine + box as one unit much easier but you have to lift the combo a lot higher to get it in .

If you need any advice while you are doing it pm and i'll give you my number, i may be able to help if you get stuck .

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
