Corsair 4GB DDR2 RAM 800MHz

Leadtek 8600GTS (Until I can upgrade to a nice DX10 card  )

1.3TB storage

Thermaltake soprano case

20" BenQ LCD

I chose to get the 8600 for now until i can afford a nice DX10 card. The benQ is alright for what i need lol. When i get motivation Im gonna hook it up the the 46" bravia in the lounge for some gaming. ATM still tweeking some stuff and reinstalling alot of shiiiiiiiiiit.

well i just got a good offer on 2 8800GTS so im now SLI.

Im selling my 7950GX2 for 300 dollars to anyone thats interested, thats a firm price.

On another note, say I have a computer thats drawing 450watts, what would I need to put it in the car and have it run?

heres some porn i would like to get

crossfire these suckas and youve got 12,000 3dmark's 06 and 2gb of video ram

3dmark 06 results

2900xt 1gb

mmmmm

always been nvidia user myself until I got the 512mb XT2900

my card outperforms 2x 7800GTX's in sli mode

serious

way better graphics and similar if not better performance

the 1gb versions are currently $700 each

the 512mb versions are $475 each. I got my 2nd one this week. all up could have gone for 1x 8800gtx or 2x 2900xt's :D

am awaiting delivery of my 850w Coolermaster (6rail) psu, plus another 6pin-8pin adapter (performance-pcs.com roughly $14aud)

with the 1bg versions, is it worth the cash ? dunno.................

so your comparing the latest ati cards to what is essentually 4 generations old nvidia hardware? (they have released the 7900, 7950 and 8800 since the 7800 and are about to release the 8900s).... and it has "similar performance" to me that is a HUGE insult to ATI!!! (not that i mind, nVidia all the way i say, they are doing an amazing job atm)

ram will only make a differance depending on what res you are running, for 22" and under you will only need at most a 320mb card, for 24" and over you need the 512mb+ cards, if not bigger

basically the bigger the res you run, the more textures there are to display and hence the more ram the graphics card need to store these textures in order to get fast access to them =)

Edited by Fishpaste~

Well the way I see it, unless you have a 30 inch panel and intend to use 2000x1000 or whatever farken res, theres no need to SLI two dx10 cards.

I have 2 MSI 8800GTS-OC's now and I intend to use them for high resing.

Pauly you need a 12v power inverter for car puter

$646 for 1gb 2900xt

in ATi optimised tests 1 2900xt will keep up with 2x8800gt's

its not hard to prove one card better over the other Nvidia has been playing that tune for ages now

dont make me slap you

sli or crossfire is a waste of time and money, the only time i would EVER recomend it is if someone has already got the fastest processor, the fastest ram and the fastest single graphics card and wants MORE gaming performace.... then and ONLY THEN would i ever recomend an SLI configuration. under any other circumstance i would feel like im cheating a customer out of their money, their is no way i could justify doing that to someone...

their is only 2 tests that i really care about when it comes to video cards

1) noise levels, if it makes lots a noise, its shit

2) drivers... and for as long as i can remember ATIs drivers have been poo!

as far as perfromance is concenred both brands are winth in a very small % of each other... nvidia just win out on noise and drivers imo

SLI-ing 2 8800gts (even the 640mb ones) for gaming on 30" screens is a waste of money, you wont get the required performance coz they are just too small.. you need GTX or Ultras as they hame many more stream procs etc!

oh btw, have you heard MSY's prices are going up?? lol, they are having to start buying from aus suppliers and hence cant keep their prices down =P

I've been quite happy with ATI's drivers. Never any real issues; if a new release has an issue or two its almost always fixed the next driver release (which is monthly). From what I have seen Nvidia have always been a tad slow with driver releases/fix's. i.e oblivion, chipset driver fix's etc.

The oldies have a nvidia card and I tend to get annoyed at a few little issues it has with desktop redraw.

Doesn't mean I wouldn't buy a nvidia card as I would. They currently offer the best performance and are stable just like ATI.

ATI's drivers were shiet back before the old 7900 pro days. Since then as far as I have seen with the games I play.. Top notch.

i know i know, was just spoiling myself

didnt need too, but meh I suxored myself in and bought the 2nd one

never mind

:)

been putting so much into my house (20k ahead now) I just wanted to spend a little on myself. for once. all pretty much done with the car mods (got $1500 for next service/fluidchange/moremods/tune on 10th sept and then shiftkit/autoservice mid november).

reason to my madness; when my kiddies get a little older they can utilise one when I build them a pc, in a year or so.

:(

when your knees are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO f**king sore a little retail therapy can help.

not

who am I kidding

:)

fishpaste; with my 'compare-o' of the 2x 7800gtx to 1x 2900xt.

I got that 7800gtx a few years ago (work pc which I did a dodgy swap on, cheers work, LOL) when they were $800 each. added another one for $200 earlier this year. just saying that for under $500 one single 2900xt is so much "better" then what the 7800gtx was when new. ie half the price, better performance.

thats the angle I was taking.

:(

What about this fishpaste,

There are different ways to SLI not just connecting 2 Nvidia GPU's together.

Alot of the power depends on the SLI interface and the Nvidia SLI bridge.

someone with a 5xxSLI chipset isnt going to be pushing it compared to someone with an 6xxSLI Chipset.

You will never see double performance with SLI unless operating at high res, there is justification for SLI and that is 1, saying you have an SLI system and 2, running the cards in tandem at the optimal resolution to experience the maximum gain.

ie, 2500x1600 res's.

At least with SLI you always have a fallback... 1 card if one fails and you have to wait to get a replacement.

if youve got a sli motherboard, a decent psu, a decent set of ram and a good cpu, I reckon youd be silly to buy one single $1000 8800gtx-oc when compared to two $500 2900xt's or two $500 8800gts's

:(

I bought 2 8800GTS (The MSI overclock ones), because the MSI ones are the best for one... and I didnt want to spend money on a card I wouldnt fully use (an Ultra).

the msi ones are the best (the 8800gts ones) because msi overclocked something else other than just core and memory on their card.

    • Had another look at the car and I noticed the fuel pump isn't priming on ignition. I'd taken out the pump from the boot to siphon out the old fuel, so maybe I've knocked something loose or broken a wire putting things back together. Will go back with a multimeter and try to work out what's stuffed. Kinda hoping it's the pump itself thats gone so I can upgrade it
    • Yeah agreed, you can't assume that shop are they only people who ever had to work on it. It was just a guess on the mods based on how things were done back then. You can check the Air Flow Meters by the part number on their tags, they are likely either Z32 or Nismo ones (both read about the same but the Z32 one is a little larger while nismo is stock size but supports the higher airflow like a Z32). And yes, all that would get you to 450hp / 340kw To tell what is happening with the turbos, you want a photo of the tag on the core, that will say what it was made out of  (they can retain the front and rear covers to make the plumbing easier)
    • I'm selling my personal race car. 1992 BNR32 Skyline GT-R About eight years ago the engine developed the dreaded low oil pressure problem. I removed it and found the issue. However shortly after I moved half way across the country, moved my work shop, bought a house, got married, then moved my shop again to it's permanent location for the time being. in turn I do not have the time to race this car as it should be. In turn the engine I built for this car will end up in my street car and this car I hope finds a home with someone who can use it to it's full potential. The roll bar was built by Jason Noren Fabricaiton in Pomona California to SCCA and NASA Specs. The car used to compete in redline time attack and global time attack enthusiast class. It also has a fire suppression system.  The car is with me at my workshop in Kyle Texas, USA. Shipping it is no problem, I can personally deliver the car to the port of either Houston or Los Angeles. Any other port depending on where it is may require transport but we can always work that out.   The chassis itself is rust free, rear quarters and under fenders are free of any rust so it's a very solid foundation for anyone who wishes to move forward with it. As posted and at the asking price of $20,000 USD the car includes all of the following;   All OEM Body panels, front fenders, rear bumpers etc.  OEM Nissan Projector headlamps (Pictured N1 lamps were removed) OEM Nismo Side Skirts / Extensions OEM Rear Spats  Front & Rear Subframes are installed car is full roller Rear Subframe has Cusco Camber Arms, Whiteline HICAS Elimination Front Subframe has Whiteline tension rods and whiteline Sway bars w/ endlinks.  Buddy Club N1 Coilovers All chassis wiring and engine wiring is in tact. Attessa System is fully in tact and was functional before engine removal.  BCNR33 GT-R Brembo Brakes F+R with Endless MX72 Plus Pads, DBA Rotors & Stainless Steel Brake lines Billion Racing Radiator Billion Radiator Hoses Fluidyne Engine Oil Cooler Accusump System (trunk Mounted) 5 Speed Transmission w/ Transfer Case F+R Prop-shafts Rear Differential With rear Axles.  Nismo Gauge Cluster Nismo Clutch + Flywheel   Essentially what is needed to make this car running and driving again is as follows: A working Engine, an ECU, and time to put it together. The price posted is or best offer as I am willing to remove some components to accommodate price to a certain extent. If any serious buyer wants full detailed pictures, videos, or any questions I'll be happy to answer them. I believe this car is priced to move quickly considering it's a rust free and very straight chassis but always open to fair negotiation.  I can be contacted via phone or email. • So...to my (and my mechanics doing the swap) surprise...the oil pan from NEO engine does not fit 100% and needs to by modified like this: It is not a huge problem but in the future i want a "proper" oil pan. So question is...what different oil pan can i get to fit without any problems and modification? Thanks!
    • Some more info I found.  These are the last entries Yoshikiyo Fujii made on his blog before he passed away in 2009: http://blog.livedoor.jp/fujii_dynamics/ And finally this is where the workshop was situated:  https://maps.app.goo.gl/HhTPtHzt3WVcBTiEA
