Whats the story with this?

Ive heard its illegal to have xenons on R33s cos they are not factory... no offence but stock headlights on R33 sucks balls... they emit an ugly yellow light and often the actual headlights go all yellow and need cleaning.

Im about to get an R33 and want xenons on it...

Yes they are illegal because they are not factory but I have not heard of anyone being defected for it. Just don't get some insane blue (8000K+) HIDs and it shouldn't pose a 'pull-over' problem.

Or if you want it as close to legal as possible, source some Series III R33 GTR lights which have factory projector HIDs. A set is pricey though, around $1000 used bought from Japan's Yahoo! Auctions.

Yeah you can get some HID kits from group buys for about $220.

As wink said, stick to white, and you'll be fine.

Legally, cars with xenon have to have self-levelling headlights for obvious reasons. If you put xenons in your standard headlights, it will be illegal, but 90% of the time, you wont get defected for it.

HID's are illegal unless the suspension is self-leveling... not quite sure how that works...

You can just put some decent philips halogen bulbs in your stock lights and they come up good. Only the older light plastic covers go yellow, the nice cars usually still look nice and clean. (its only the Series 1 GTS and GTR lights that go yellow, series 2 GTS are different).

You can put a HID kit in... not sure what i think of those...

The Series 3 GTR came with xenon's ... they are rare to buy 2nd hand, you can get them from yahoo japan sometimes, very rare that you'd get them landed here for much under 2k...

as for illegal to have lights that you can adjust thier level????? I doubt it since most cars have an adjustment on the headlights to get them set to a correct level.

Oh ok, yeah you guys are right, it's self levelling suspension.

I was getting confused as my Lexus RX330 has self-levelling xenon headlights which move around as you go up a hill or around a corner or whatever.

It is illegal to have lights which you are able to move its position.. am i correct?? thats what i heard!!

like on the r34s, you are able to move the position via a knob or somesort..

Dunno about the R34, but my old man's BMW has manually adjustable headlights.

The lights must be self ajusting and they must have washers to comply with ADR.

The series III 33 gtrs that were imported under the old system were complied with the xenons legaly but under the new system you cant comply them unless thye are self ajusting and have washers .

All plastic h/lights go hazy / yellow in japan of course the older they are the worse but i have seen even 34 lights like that but not as bad as some 33's.

    • He obviously had his reason for flipping you off. I wonder what it was...
    • Thats why I stay far, far away from Eastwood. only go there if I wanna eat Korean food
    • I have to agree like, yesterday, I was driving down the warringah freeway towards the bridge when this jackass driving a beaten up Honda civic cut me off so suddenly it made me almost yank the wheel to avoid him hitting my car. Honestly and he had the NERVE to flip me off (or some other gesture Idk). Im a calm guy, but really some people just dont deserve to have a license, let alone be allowed to drive on densely populated roads/highways. If youre gonna cut through lanes at least use the damn turn signal
    • HPA do an interesting video on tuning, and Adrian shows on the dyno, moving from 10:1 to 12:1 (And I think even 13:1) and the power moves SFA. However, a couple of degrees of timing has a HUGE impact. Exhaust side of things will more be the length of the exhaust and how many bends and turns you have. The straighter you can keep it, the better. By a lot. Oh, and getting the diameter right. Bigger isn't always better. Going to big can actually lose you power.
    • I have to say, most people I see on the road fit the bill of atrocious drivers. Whether they be cowboys in their dual cabs, bogans in the Commodores, or the soccer mums. Pretty much most people on the road put zero freaking thought into driving. Barely look further up the road then the end of their bonnet, and have never even thought about how catastrophically wrong shit can go, by doing what they all deem as normal driving. Especially their late braking, racing to stopped lights, and sitting half a foot off the bumper of the car in front at 110km/h. Wanna know what's even better? By the time their kids get to be old enough to learn to drive, they've already got in the back of their brain what is normal driving, how annoyed you're allowed to get at people etc, and then their parents who actually have zero freaking skill at driving (Even though they constantly say "I've been driving for 20 years and never had an accident!") teach the little twerps how to drive, or should I say, how to make a car move. Literally watched a parent teach their L Plater, on a 4 lane freeway, that you just slam the brakes on, and push your way over, even with a B Double bearing down on you, and that's how you should drive, rather then, just keep going to the next exit. Same shit happens all the time for side streets etc, watching numpties pull dumb shit turns pushing across 3 lanes of traffic, rather than just go up the road another 30 seconds, and take the next turn that'll get you to the same location... Oh, and the damn right lane bandits. Or the retards driving along with their headphones in, and can't hear the ambulance or fire truck right up their ass about to run them over...   Pretty much, people drive on the road, like ego centric f**ks, and don't actually think how dumb shit their driving is, how it could easily kill them or someone else in a split second, or at the very least, how they're driving is contributing to all the shit they're bitching about on the road, like shitty congestion!
