Ok i am after a reliable 250rwkw, at the moment i got 185rwkw with the stock turbo at 12psi.

Will the HKS 2530 with 600 x 300 x 76 fmic, s-afc, full 3inch exhaust, catch can, pod give me a reliable 250rwkw with ofcourse upgraded fuel system and possible upgrade to pfc.

Who has done this and with what psi pressure will the turbo need to be run at to produce 250rwkw and how responsive streetable will the package be?

I dont want to do any internal work as yet.

Also is the 2540 the biggest internal gated turbo that will bolt onto the stcok manifold??

Why buy a HKS jobbie?? I have talked to GCG in NSW that will high flow a stock turbo and here is the best part for insurance purposes it the turbo looks stock. By high flowing they replace all the guts. I also talked to one of the blokes at Hills motorsport in NSW yesterday and he says he can rebuild my turbo with all sorts of flash internals.

I don't know of anyone who has a 2530 that has made 250rwkw. I think a 2540 can do this. I'm sure you could achieve it with a 2530 but I'm not sure how long your turbo would last.

Moanie on this forum has a 2530 with a HKS cooler, upgraded injectors, fuel pump, SAFC, exhaust and pod and maybe a few more little things and she makes around 210-230rwkw I think.

HKS make the only ture bolt on turbo where everything lines up using ones GCG may bolt up but the oil etc might not so the $$$ you save in getting GCG you are going to spend in labour and parts fitting.

Remember peak power isn't the be all and end all with the 2530 you are going to get a very nice and streetable power band.

GCG take your standard turbo mill the living hell out of it and insert their own guts. ie they use the standard housing and your telling me that by using the standard housing all of sudden when you bolt it back on nothing will line up?????

By buying a hi flow unit u would be able to to chose the impeller design and as such you can get a large setup which will give you peak power up high or a more streetable package for down low.

inasnt get ahmeds 2540 they are a great turbo and will put you close to the 250 rwkw. only problem with that is you will be to cheap to put injectors power fc and z 32 afm in but you might do it later a very good upgrade for the r33. Ive been in a 2530 equpped r33 it was very nice but not as savage as the 2540

I thought you ment a complete replacement turbo not a hi-flow my mistake.

Funny you should mention this.

In my mind the 2530 is more a s15/GT-R turbo.

I'm about to stick a 2540 into my car.

Eventually though I can see the 'full picture'... it won't be as modded as Brendans' or Andrews' respective cars (I don't want to buy a manifold) and I feel that for me, 240/250rwkW should be more than enough. However as a daily driver, reliability is what I need as well.

This how I see my car panning out... (asterisk is what I do not have yet and I feel are perhaps optional)

550cc injectors*

Apex'i cone filter in a fiber box

ARC FMIC

fuel pump* (GTR or Bosch)

HKS BOV

HKS 2540 w/3" dump

Kakimoto full exhaust

Oil catch can*

PowerFC + AVC-R is the brains and up the boost past 16psi

Rising rate regulator* (not a Malpassi)

Z32 AFM*

250rwkW??? I am certain I will pass 250kW with the use of 550cc inj. or too much in the way of boost.

I do not see the need for a custom manifold. Wrong?

Hard to say, you need to find out what the max. efficiency of the 2540 is.

It has an A/R of 0.64.

Max. pressure is something like 2.0 or 2.5 bar AFAIK.

I don't think 28 psi is advisable with stock internals :P

I would think a 18-20-22-24 psi would be fine.

I would use Andrew's car as a guage.

With a GT3040 and 1.2 bar it hit 280rwkW but that's with Z32 AFM, injectors, manifold, all the high fuel bits...

250rwkW might take 22+ psi in all likelihood.

dont know if u wanna run over 20psi with the stock internals!!

how much did u pick up your 2540 for? if ya dont mind me asking and is it a straight fit exactly? no cutting and chopping required, and can u use the same stock dump pipe?? coz i got a custom 1 with seperate pipes for wastegate and exhaust gases made?

Well Andrew did 280kW with stock internals...

I'm gonna keep my 2540 buy price secret for now...

It is not a straight fit apparently but the people who do my work think that a $50 custom flange will do it.

Mine comes with a dump pipe but I may have to go with a custom like yours because I want that loud external wastegate sound.

I'm am hoping that either my current 3" dump is fine or the one that comes with it is usable.

In the short term I hope I can just get the turbo fitted and running.

its internal gated isent it?? so u wont get the external eastegate sound!

the main question of running 1.2-1.5 bar over a long period and the amount of damage it will cause the engine is my real issue!

Hasent whatshisname got around 250rwkw with only 13psi?? whats he using

    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA
