First things first...welcome!!! Nice looking car you have there

Crap Isaac!! Alex, just go to your "My Controls" area and change it to whatever you want it to say!!

You can only change that if you are a mamber of the club!!!! I couldnt change mine till I had joined

thanks for the advice, I just go to the gym there and thought i would snap a couple of pics after i washed her today. (Isn't it annoying how many inperfections you find when you wash a car for the first time ?!?!)

Also, I was thinking of putting the car on the dyno just to see how it goes as a starting point and also to check out a noise im hearing (there is a high pitched whistle when the turbo spools up only happens for like a second on full boost between 4000 and 5000rpm i think it is). I rang up FIST performance and they quoted $95, does anyone have any dealings with them to speak of? or anyone else to recommend?

I have only heard very bad things about fist :O

Thanks for the positive comments, there is definately an active community here.

I was actually wondering what they do in a "dyno tune" as opposed to a power run. Is it worth getting a tune if i have just the exhaust and hks pod?

Hi Alex

Welcome to teh forum :mage:

If you want to join SAu Qld please see this thread http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=104137

Feel free to PM me any questions you may have which I haven't covered

i'll let someone else explain the RB20E thing but basically its got to do with the amount of posts you've made on the forums

This is correct

This is also correct

Also, you don't need to be a member of SAu Qld to be able to change this :D

Rhinorebel mentioned Chilleh Night...basically we get together and have a dinner somewhere...check my sig for details -- hope you can come along :)

Kind regards,

Karen - SAu Qld Treasurer

WELCOME WELCOME ALEX! kaos-panda28.gif

FIST... well... as I personally haven't had any work done there, I can't say... but there are things that just don't sit right. They tend to not take things seriously. They will overcharge on items. And they tried to sell me a car which had work done and was tuned, yet still seemed to make piss-poor power figures.

Anyway, welcome, you should come along to Chilleh (it's at ChilLan this week) :mage:

Ciao, Anna xo

    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.
    • Nice, looks great. Nice work getting the factory parts also. Never know when you'll need them.
    • Thanks @jtha7 I will have a look around tomorrow but it is a prick of a spot. These are some photos i tried taking
    • I take it that the knock retard is from bearings tapping a little tune? Thicker oil is a fragile bandaid. You need a much bigger oil cooler and probably the bigger pump being discussed.
    • Hi @Chupapy i had several leaks from coolant pipes being corroded, i also had one leak on back of the head onto transmission. For me that leak was from the turbo water line. Follow the line to the back of the head The hose and metal pipe had perished these are the best pics I took of it at the time
