The other night if was cold as so i went to put the climate control on, turned up

the temp to 32 degress and waited for hot air to come out, waited, waited, nothing,

the only thing coming out was cold air. I was using the heater a couple of nights before

and it seemed to be working fine. Everything else work fine as far as i'm aware of,

has anyone incurred this problem before?

Run a diagnostic check on the climate control system. The Workshop manual explains how to. If you dont already have it search for it and d\l it. It sounds to me that the tap that controls flow of water to the heater is not opening. It could be stuck or just plain broken.

  • 2 weeks later...

I don't think the ambient air temp does too much.... it just tells you how high the temp is *outside* the car, and maybe does a small correction..

Proper way to test it all is.. put key in ignition position..

within 10 seconds, hold down the "off" button for 5 seconds.. will go into testing mode..

Press "up" (the arrow) 5 times i think it is (or is it 4).. this goes into the temp sensor area (it will display the temperature of each sensor in turn - there is about 4). Press AMB to view the temp each one is reading in turn. If you've got an abnormal or -30deg in any of them the sensor is bung.

There are other tests you can do when in the testing mode, but I think think the above will be most useful in this situation

There is a sensor at the front of the car (ambient read out) and there is another to the right of your ashtray behind the 4 little slits, I think, but not sure, your A/C and heater works from the temp coming from there and heats or cools accordingly. Can anyone else confirm this? :bunny:

When mine was doing this, it was the actuator arm falling off the blender motor (I think that's what it's called - that's what we called them when I worked for Ford anyway). The bit that controls whether hot or cold air came out anyway. It was stuck in the "cold" position obviously. I didn't fix it, but my mechanic had a quick look under the dash for me when I was there for something else and he fixed it in half a minute with a circlip or the like.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
