Stagefumer,

Does your car have the same radiator, size & configuration?

Mine looks heaps bigger than in these pics.

Cheers, D

I suspect the radiator may be out of an aussie R30, as there is a blanking panel added to the drivers side to cover up part of the opening in the radiator supoort panel.

my radiator is a lot diffrent I have the brass Tank version. But my r30 is a 85. + done nearly 400,000k!!!!!!! :ban:

Gotta admit nice engine bay :O. And you have the early brakeboost/ master. similar to the r32 units (i have one ready to be installed )

You mean later, surely?

But I'm punting this master cylinder/booster combination for the DR one.

It's same configuration as '81/3 but has a 1" diameter master cylinder. I just had to source the front brake lines from an early model car, which I now have. As I'm going with a full on DR brake set up, front & rear. Fronts with slotted rotors and EBC pads all round.

I have 15/16 master cylinders in the later configuration if anyone is interested. 2 from memory.

actaully from what i have seen, i wouldnt take this is gosple. Acording to the system at my work late 1983 onwards master cylinders changed to the smaller style one. compared to the earlyer had the r32 style master/booster. And that the brake ballance block is external to the cylinder on the after 1983 units. Which will be a pain when i swap it over to the r32 unit.

the radiator in my HR30 was a 280C radiator.

I replaced it yesterday with a radiator out of a manual MR30, which fits the full width of the radiator support opening unlike the one in the pic above. I also had to use the manual R30 top rad hose. the overflow connector faces the wrong side of the car, but that's no biggie. I also replaced the worn alt/waterpump belt and replaced the bearing in the idler puller for the power steer. Its so quiet now!

I also have a stupid question - the amber 'headlight-looking' light in the dash is on sometimes when the lights are on. Sometimes its out, and occassionally it flickers. Is this supposed to be a charge warning light??? if so, why does it look like a damn headlight?

    • Yep, the closest base tune available was for the GTT, I went with that and made all the logical changes I could find to convert it to Naturally Aspirated. It will rev fine in Neutral to redline but it will be cutting nearly 50% fuel the whole way.  If I let it tune the fuel map to start with that much less fuel it wont run right and has a hard time applying corrections.  These 50% cuts are with a fuel map already about half of what the GTT tune had.  I was having a whole lot of bogging when applying any throttle but seem to have fixed that for no load situations with very aggressive transient throttle settings. I made the corrections to my injectors with data I found for them online, FBCJC100 flowing 306cc.  I'll have to look to see if I can find the Cam section. I have the Bosch 4.9 from Haltech. My manifold pressure when watching it live is always in -5.9 psi/inHg
    • Hi My Tokico BM50 Brake master cylinder has a leak from the hole between the two outlets (M10x1) for brake pipes, I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what that hole is and what has failed to allow brake fluid to escape from it, I have looked on line and asked questions on UK forums but can not find the answer, if anyone can enlighten me I would be most grateful.
    • It will be a software setting. I don't believe many on here ever used AEM. And they're now a discontinued product, that's really hard to find any easy answers on. If it were Link or Haltech, someone would be able to just send you a ECU file though.
    • Yes sir am asking is there possible way from aem tuner from wiring pins
    • Have you checked cam to crank timing and confirmed balancer marks are correct?
