Quinny
I am just wondering if it is possible to change the boost setting, without having a boost controller. I am sure that my car is running more boost than factory, but I can't see a boost controller anywhere. I will be buying a boost controller soon (not sure if I will spend the extra cash for an electronic one, or just go a manual one), so I can keep track of the boost (about 8psi for the moment), but I suppose I have to work out how the boost was increased in the first place. Abo Bob
You need a boost gauge to keep an eye on the boost. Changes to your exhaust and to a lesser extent your intake can increase the boost. Quinny
The car does have an aftermarket exhaust, so I suppose that would make a difference. I might get a boost guage and boost controller hooked up, that way I know exactly what is going on. MANWHORE
You can change boost without a 'boost controller'. If you have a look at the stock system, there is a bleeder in the wastegate line. You just change the size of the restrictor by soldering/drilling it out. D-limo
Isn't it easy to set rb25's to "High Boost Mode" or something? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/117353-setting-boost-without-boost-controller/#findComment-2159265 Share on other sites
RBwhatever
I've heard and i'll stress the "i've heard" bit of my statement, on a z32 twin turbo 300zx, you could stick a welding tip into one on the vacuum lines to restrict the flow(which line i don't know), this apparently tricks the ecu into thinking there is not enough boost, so it ups it a bit. I'm not sure if it'll work on a skyline.
