Hello Australia

I was wondering for the last 2 years I have been driving a Hyundai Getz and well I want to upgrade to something that has a lot of appeal, and style but in the same time can go really really fast, really really quickly. I know that sounds like I’m a dickhead that just wants a kool car, but after driving a Getz for 2 year I think all of you would know what I mean. I mean 50cc scooters overtake me, lol.

Any way I have around about $28,500 to spend on a car and well I was looking at 3 types of cars and if anyone could tell me the pros and cons about them that would be grate I know that this is a Skyline forum and you will all say that the skyline will kick ass but yeah I just need to know about all 3 cars. The cars that I’m looking to buy are:

1. 1994 RX-7 with a brand new re-build

2. 1990 R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R with a re-build

3. 1994 Toyota Supra RZ

So if you all could give me a hand on deciding, what would be the best that would be mad.

Best regards Vlad Adam

1.Rx7, is an awsome machine; what was done in thre rebuild? is it still running factory twin turbo? as they are know to brake. But overall rx7 is a very mean track car, and they can be built to handle alot of power with very little lag

3. dont know much about the supra but i know the 1 and 2jz engine are very strong and can handle some hardcore figures on stock internals

Well, considering you're ona skyline forum, you can imagine what everyone is going to say, but I'll give you as unbiased an opinion as I can manage:

RX-7: It's a rotary, and I personally don't really 'get' rotaries. It's a little different, and not a bad little car, but no 'kick in the pants' appeal.

Supra: Good kick in the pants appeal, solid engine, but common as dogs balls. Also, tend to get heavy and slidey when you need grip the most.

R32 GTR: It wasn't banned from touring cars for nothing. 4wd, 4 wheel steer, plenty of grunt, an automotive revolution. Drawback: Err..... The amount of attention you'll get from being too damn sexy.

Seriously though, if you want a dyno queen, with a bit of looks, go the supre, if you want a car that's a little different, with a few quirks, go the FC, if you want a great all round car that'll take those impossible corners, get the GTR.

And going from a getz, um, well, test drive them all first. dropping the pedal in a getz might jar you a little, in any of the above cars, it might put your back out.

If AWD isn't your thing, you could always look at a GTS-T, kind of like a 2wd GTR 'lite'.

then again, it's all individual tastes, I'm sure plenty of supra drivers and rotary lovers will tell you a different story. Just figure out what you want your car to do, and then pick the car that does it.

    • There's not a great deal to report here .... except ...... FOR .... LSD!!!  I bought a Quaife LSD from the UK and shipped it here .... Wish I'd just bought locally cause the shipping and duty was $700! But there were so many diffs used in the E90s I just wanted to be absolutely certain I was getting the right one so I spoke with a supplier in the UK who builds race cars and they have heaps of experience with the E90s.  I pulled the diff out which was seriously awesome - I've never done anything like that before, I must have watched 1000 videos on YT about it as well as consulting the Bentley manual. It was super easy in the end. The diff was delivered to the awesome folks at Hornsby Diffs and will be back in a few weeks. I also replaced the diff bushings with some Nolathane ones.  Really looking forward to getting it back and getting back to the track or even the skidpan.
    • yeah... the 13kg/mm springs weren't always in there, I had 10kg/mm but doing a few SMSP commanded heavier front springs. It's so good now going into T1 and T2, just need more seat time and real tyres.
    • Yes, well. Mine are less than half that. ARBs are not set to "dumb" either.
    • I would hope. But, we all know even the best companies have an issue sporadically.
    • LOL well, lucky mine doesn't have some R shit on it. Around town, it handles so much better than the R33, R33 in the wet is pretty dangerous to the untrained hoon, especially with 13kg/mm front springs.
